Shampoo/Cond for frizzy hair?

Sweat is water-soluble. Seriously...do not shampoo your hair every day if it is curly.

J&J Baby shampoo is what hairstylists recommend to strip your hair if you did a bad home dye-job. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone else...except for babies.

Wet hair, then condition--don't rinse--add shampoo--then rinse, then condition, and depending on the thickness and dryness of your hair, either rinse just a little, or all of it out.

I like the Deva products, Moroccan Oil, etc. The best uber-cheap shampoo I can think of is Nature's Gate, but it doesn't compare to Deva and Moroccan Oil, who now has an entire line of products.

Try Living Proof- It is definitely on the expensive side, but, I am with you on the coarse, frizzy hair! I have tried EVERYTHING...This brand is sold online, and Another good brand is by Kenra. I get the sulfate free if I can. I am waiting for the shaved-look to come into style!!
Good Luck.

Wait, I'm confused about the J&J--it's used to strip hair, but it's gentle enough for babies? More details please.

I follow the curly girl method and so normally shy away from "cones". However, I recently purchased a bottle of Enjoy Hair and Skin Treatment Oil which contains at least two types of cones. So far I have had no problem with build up. This stuff is amazing! It works great, making my coarse hair feel very soft and completely frizz free. It has transformed my 8 year old DD's hair which is just past her bottom and is fairly straight. When using this stuff there are no tangles in her hair. None! And her hair seriously feels like silk. She's always had beautiful hair, but now it's stunning.

Here's a link. It's in the Finishing Tools category:

I have coarse, dry, color damaged hair that is frizzy and fuzzy. I HATE it. I have not found anything that is GREAT yet, but I keep trying. More recently, I started using Trilliant by Sebastian and It's a Ten Leave In conditioner, but I'm still not thrilled. The best thing for me so far has been Redken's Outshine. I was told to purchase the Smooth Down line from Redken, but it is cost prohibitive right now. I may try it in the future. A girl at work turned me on to this site...but I've yet to try it.

www.Mixedchicks.net I'd like to try it soon though.

Thanks to Laura I received the first compliment in my life on my hair! I mean the other times were after the stylist had done it. At the RT, Laura told me about CG and has provided advice. Unfortunately, that means I've turned into a product junkie. I have Deva NoPoo Shampoo which I alternate with Burt Bees Green Tea one, since I color my hair. I use Burts conditioner, as well as Loreal Vive Pro, and have a few others stashed in the cabinet. My hair has definitely become healthier and more curly.
Laura, thank you so much!

Cookie, I've been wondering how CG has been working for you. So glad you like it! And you're very welcome! :)

Hi,

I have medium fine, color treated, 3a/3b naturally curly hair that tends to be frizzy and dry. I found a great drugstore/department store conditioners that work for me:

I have adopted the CG method (naturallycurly.com). I Co-was my hair, meaning a use a shampoo and work it in like a shampoo massaging the scalp really well like you would a shampoo. I C0- Wash about 2-3X a week. I do use a Low poo 1X a week if needed. I use Giovanni Triple Tea Treat Shampoo, or Burts Bee's Volumizing Shampoo and its conditioner.

For Co-wash I like to use:

Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner
VO5 Moisture Milks-Strawberries & Cream
Salon Care Honey & Almond Conditioner

Note: I also use either the Conditioners used in Co wash or the other conditioners as leave-ins just a pea size or two and rake through with fingers on wet hair.

Rinses 1X a month= Apple Cider Vinegar and water
Or Baking Soda and water rinse, or if scalp is itchy use 1-2 TBSP Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner with 1 TBSP Brown sugar to use as a Co Wash and really give the scalp a good massage/gentle scrub.

Fave Conditioners for my hair:

Nature's Gate Hemp Nourishing Conditioner
Nature's Gate Aloe Conditioner
VO5 Moisture Milks -Strawberries and Cream
(Sally's Beauty) Salon Care Honey and Almond Conditioner- 1 Gallon size $8.49 Lasts a really long time and very buget friendly. I have to dilute it by 1/3 with water and put it in a separate container. I get mine from the dollar store Ketchup/Mustart bottles for a $1, I find its easier to handle in the shower.
These are the conditioners I use most often.

Other's that I like to use that I get at Sally's beauty are:

GVP Conditioning Balm -Generic Version of Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm- (This is a great deeper conditioning rinse out conditioner that you leave in the hair for 3 minutes then rinse out.)
GVP (Generic Version of) Joico K-Pak (Deep Penetrating Reconstructor)

I like to do weekly deep conditioning treatments of Jessicurl Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment conditioner that I put on my hair and leave on for 30 minutes to an hour under a plastic cap and warm from the dryer towel over it to create some warmth for deeper penetrating treatment.

I hope these suggestions are helpful. I'm CG and have been now for about six months and it really does work. Best of luck to your and here's to everyday being a good hair day!

Hugs!;)

Nora
