Shaky legs-keep going?

Cathe and/or educated crowd: :)

I was doing CTX LL yesterday and half way through my legs were just shaking. It was such a weird feeling. Does that mean that I should stop doing the exercise? I've never had them shake that bad before? I struggled through it, but let me tell you - walking today is a whole other story :7

Thanks. Marcia :)

IMHO as long as the joints are not negatively affected, a little bit of shaking is "a good thing", as our favorite federal felony Martha Stewart is want to say. That means that the legs or whatever working muscle is shaking is being pushed to close to failure, and that is where true strength development can really blossom. I get the shakes toward the end of my heavy-leg set each Sunday morning, and as long as it's a tremor as opposed to a violent wobble, I know I'm where I want to be.

In fact, I believe Cathe mentions the shake in Maximum Intensity Strength, when she's doing the dreaded sit-to-stands; as long as you know you can press out of it without keeling over at the end and wanking something out (back, knee) it's okay.

I have always wanted to know the answer to that question. Thanks for asking it, and thanks for the great answer. When I am shaking, I usually don't stop because I still have leg strength left. Thanks again.

My legs shake when I really push them too and sometimes they feel like jello after the workout but as long as you're not in danger of falling over or anything, continue to go for it. Your muscles are only to get stronger or gain more endurance for all your efforts.

And when you are done, get some glycogen back into those shaky legs by eating a balanced meal with plenty of carbs, moderate protein and a little fat. Then sit back and wait for the DOMS! :)

You think that's bad!

My legs shake when I do endurance biceps with a barbell. Like when I do Power Hour - not at the beginning, but at the end when my biceps start to fail. And I mean my legs are "shaking like a chihuahua!".
