Scary morning

Well, I think you handled it well. I don't know that I would have opened the door...I'm a parinoid person! However, if he had a phone...why couldn't he get "coached" how to get out of the neighborhood from someone he knew. Wow...sounds like it could have been a really nasty situation if you would have transported him via vehicle. Just sounds fishy! Although, being forced up so quickly didn't work in his favor!

Why the hell doesn't everyone in your neighbourhood already know about this? Why hasn't someone put the high alert out after the first one? Do your neighbours a favour and circulate a flyer to your entire subdivision describing the incidents - and why not try to get it on the news? Local news stations should eat this up!

I KNOW!!
All the trustees knew this was going on and didn't warn any of us! The only reason I can think of is because the main criminal happens to be the adult child of one of the home owners. Maybe they are afraid of legal action. This homeowner's kid is in jail, but all his drug buddies are still working the subdivision. Still, they could have told us what was going on without using names.

I asked the trustee if they were going to send out a warning email now. He said, "I don't know. It has to be discussed with the other trustees."

Cynthia,

Just wanted to say I am so glad you are ok !!!!
Boxers are awesome dogs , I had a Boxer who came in very handy once many years ago. Got the creep out of my house .

My in laws had a Boxer a few years ago when they lived in Mobile, they were the only house on the block that was not, broken in to.

Please take care, and again am so glad you and your family are ok, hugs :)

Bri.

Forget the trustees - do it yourself! A flyer is something anyone can do - just put it in their mailboxes.

Cynthia~
The next time the guy tries something all the neighbors should have a plan.... Sure MR, I'll give ya a ride IF you let me take your picture (on my cell phone) first! all said thru CLOSED DOORS of course!!!

Because nobody got hurt it's probably a blessing in disguise that this stranger knocked because now you and your family are hyper alert. You'll feel super paranoid for a while, looking at everyone with suspicion, but that will eventually melt away and you'll just be aware - which is a good thing. I'm very concerned about all your elderly neighbors, though. Is there a Block Watch program? Do they meet?

Can your son park his Geek Squad car in the garage? You might want to make space for it because you're right, to a meth head, a car advertising your son's job at a major electronics store is practically an engraved invitation to a b&e.

And I agree with others, why aren't the local cops watching this bunch?

Morningstar, I thought about flyers. I think that is a good idea.

Stacey,
I asked my son to park the Geek van at work. He does drive his own car home most of the time. There are a few occasions when he brings the van home because he's late for school. The van won't fit in our garage. :(
As far as the police watching. We found out what Julie posted earlier is true. You have to document any and all incidents before they do anything.

Edited to add...Bri, I agree with you about boxers! My UPS guy told me that he will not go into a yard that has a boxer. He's never seen a more protective breed.
My girl Mercedes barks at strangers, but I think she would show a robber where to find the good stuff~!
