Santa attacked by a stink bug

These bugs are everywhere right now (mostly in PA and states that neighbor it). While not harmful, they are annoying and if you squish one they let out an odor of stinky feet....ewwww!
 
Poor guy...as if he needs this right now :p At least with that solid grip on the flashlight and the look in his pretty blue eyes, it seems he'll be on the alert for the rest of the season!

Does regular insect repellent work on them?
 
So that's what those are. I've seen them around here in the summer, but I didn't know they were stink bugs (because I never squoosh them: seems they've got a good squoosh-deterent going...at least after the first one gets squooshed!).
 
UGH my mom & sis live out by Valley Forge, they've been invaded by them! And they're so ugly it's tough to resist the temptation to smush them..........:eek:
 
Poor Santa. :( I was getting annoyed by our earwig/pincher bug invasion in central CA, but I'm feeling better about that now since they at least don't stink!
 
Yup, there here in MA as well. Had one in the shower and my 9 year old was screaming his head off. I was hoping now that it is in the teens that the bug invasion was over.
 
I actually think they look kind of interesting, like a shield.

Are the smaller green, leaf-colored ones of the same shape also stink bugs? Maybe a different gender, or younger ones?
