sample of what to eat after weight workout and cardio workouts

Hi,

I'm not a big fan of protein shakes or any kind of shakes I prefer to eat real food. Whats a good sample of what to eat after a heavy weight training workout? This is what I was eating 6 egg whites with some bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and some cheese. Is this ok or should I be adding some carbs (like a wheat tortilla) Also on the days I do cardio should I be eating less carbs and more lean proteins? I'm so confuse! My goal is to gain lean muscle mass.

Hi Lourdes,

Some good high protein snacks I have post workouts are: Fat Free or Low fat Ricotta cheese, mixed with some dry pudding mix for flavor and some low fat cool whip. Also Cottage Cheese is VERY high in protein. I mix it with about a 1/4 C of canned pumpkin (great fiber source) some Pumpkin Pie spice & cinnamon. Sometimes I'll have a few slices of turkey or lean ham with a squirt of mustard as an afternoon protein snack too. Usually with a piece of fruit.

I'm not sure about what you're "supposed" to eat post cardio, vs. post weights. ... I'll leave that for someone else!
