running skirts?

Are there any runners out there that use running skirts? I've read about them, . .seen them, . . .but don't think I'm ready to run in a skirt. It just seems weird. Any thoughts. Someone convince me to get with the new and out with the old.

Are the one you refer to the same as skorts with completely hidden shorts? I wear them--they feel like shorts. I love them!

Have you seen the tough girl skirt from www.skirtsports.com? It's bootcut tights with a skirt over them. So cool! And they have a winter weight pair, but they're $125! Out of my price range. I have a running skirt from Target that works ok, just not the best quality. I do like them, though.

One of my colleagues runs in one...I think it's a skort. It's absolutely adorable, and looks pretty comfortable.

I have 4. Love them! So much more comfortable than shorts, and way more stylish. They are so stretchy that they do not restrict movement in any way. Give them a whirl.

Gosh, . . I sure as heck hope that they have built in shorts (skorts). I've assumed that they do. They are referred to as running skirts everywhere I read about them. Nice to hear everyone's replies, . .thanks. I just may have to give em a whirl, . . any highly reccomended brands out there? I just got into these CXW tights and love them. I'm broadening my horizons and trying new things. No one in my dinky little town wears them but then again I do live in a super duper small town.

I love mine - I have at least three pairs. I like the ones that have the snug spandex-y internal shorts (the looser internal shorts seem to ride more). They are comfortable like wearing spandex shorts without the obvious cosmetic problems that spandex shorts present on someone who has, um, some hips and a butt. I also don't look good in regular shorts and feel like they tend to creep so the skorts are a real saviour for me.

Oh why did I look at this thread:confused: Those are so cute!!

Since I am a runner, I have also consider purchasing the running skirt. I just worried about that darn thing rising up or causing any friction/irration when I run.

I have several skorts and I enjoy working out in them. Some are a little longer than others but I can workout and do errands in them as well. Tracie Long has one on in her videos.

I always run in running skirts in mild weather. I find them to be very, very comfortable. Some are made with shorts underneath, or you can find others that have "spankies" underneath. I have the shorts kind, but perhaps the spankies kind wouldn't ride as much. Running skirts also seem to be more flattering on me, although I guess it doesn't really matter what you look like when you're running.

Have a great night!

I have three skirts (all with shorts, but beware not every pair has them- read carefully!). At my bootcamp class this year I instituted "Summer Skirt Fridays" since everyone said mine was so cute but they'd never know when to wear one. ;)

My favorite is an Athleta skirt, and I have an Adidas one, and I also have a Zoot skirt. Don't care for the Zoot one since it just is way too stretchy for me to feel safe in. ;) The Athleta one is nice since it's long, and the Adidas one is nice since it has a slit in the leg. They are really cute; I've tended to only wear them running (outside) since they are so cute. It's really fun when I realize, hey, I can work out at home and feel cute too!! :p

That is all I run in when the weather is warm enough. I LOVE mine. My favorite is from Prana (Prana Sugar Mini Skirt). It has super soft fabric and the shorts are wider in the leg (which I need). I have a Nike skort too but the shorts cut into my thighs - a little too tight. It's the Nike style that tends to ride up on me.

I also have one from Sportskirts with the 'spankie' underneath. It doesn't ride up at all but I find the spankie fabric a little too thin for my personal modesty. The skirt itself is longer though.

Runner's World magazine had an article about this a few months ago - with reviews...

The running skorts I have are by Nike, with shorts as part of the whole, made from the same fabric. Absolutely no riding up, absolutely no chafing.
