Sorry that I was MIA yesterday. Our internet connection, which is through the university where I work, was down yesterday for a scheduled maintenance and I had to survive without, it was tough, but I made it;-)
Laura-I second Karen's advice on Slow and Heavy and Sarah's advice on the diet for definition. Although, I'm using the Gym Styles right now and seeing some pretty awesome results. Hope you feel better soon!
Judy-Enjoy the rest day and nice job on the speedwork yesterday, that sounds like one tough run.
Karen-Here's to hoping you increase your mileage today! Yes, we will be 5King on the same day, so I'll join you across the finish line!
Carole-Thanks for the encouragement and the cake! However, I think everyone misunderstood my post, it's my first 5K "of the season" not first 5K ever. I ran a few of them last spring, but haven't had a chance for more until now that school has let out. Good luck on the 20 miles today, understands running 20 miles, but only "understands" with my mind, not by body--that is in no way ready, lol!
I like to mix up the leg work, but I usually find that my legs feel so warmed up by the run that I can lift better. Of course, my mileage is nowhere as high as yours, so that could explain it as well.:7
Jess-Nice job on MM (does that "MMmmm" stand for the pancakes as well?) Give your DD a high five for me on the biking!
Elaine-Results lady, results! Hope the race is awesome!
Cathy-Welcome!! The GS series are a particular fave of mine, for style and results
And great run this morning! It's not slow, you're just training smart as too fast might get you injured and then where would you be?
ShellyC-New shoes are so great, aren't they? I have my eyes on some new Saucony's but haven't bitten the bullet yet. Thanks for the compliment on my posts and DH, I'll pass that along. DH was actually the one who got me into running. He's did track and cross-country for years and so loves running, I used to loathe it, but he has been nothing but encouraging and patient and now I love it too:7 Nice Gym Styling yesterday! I also did C&T and managed to increase a few of my weights. Also, thanks for the 5K encouragement, but I'm afraid it's a little misplaced (see my post to Carole:+ )
Gayle-Sorry about the crappy race experience. It's stuff like that which keeps people away from races--fitness, health, family, the last person across the finish line is just as important as the first, maybe more important because it was tougher for them and their still out there giving it their best. Makes me fume!!
Pamela-Hi and nice job on the the speedwork!
Sarah-Sweet time on the 5K! Let us know your placement when you find out! Also, thanks for your encouragement on the 5K, but see the above post to Carole to clear up the misunderstanding
You are too sweet! But I'll still follow your solid advice!
Barb-I like the look, gloves and shorts, it's very Diane Keaton, lol;-) Glad everything went well, I'm glad you're racing the day before my b-day with me. I'll be thinking of you.
Hi to Thomasina, Amy, Christine, and Marcia when they check-in!
I'm feeling so excited about my race! It's only 1 week away so I'm trying to figure out the best way to spend this week rotation-wise. Yesterday after GS C&T DH and I went to the local track and I did a timed mile. 7:24!! I know it's not that fast, but for someone who used to hate running and walk some of the mile run in school, this is a huge accomplishment. It's the fastest that I've ever run a mile in (that I know of, lol) and I was so excited! We also some other speedwork on the track and today will be crossing training. A-jock's Turkey Day Mish Mosh I think. If you haven't done that one before it's a cardio monster!
Have a great day!
Mattea
