Happy Memorial Day gals!

I haven't worked out since my run/abs on Friday and I can tell! I also consumed an immense amount of garbage while away for the weekend. I feel awful! :-(

I am going to the gym today. I will be using the treadmill but I have no particular plan in mind...I'll update my work out later on!

Have a great day and hope the weekend was a nice one for all of you!:)

Good morning cheetah runners!

Happy Memorial back atcha Wendy!

Well we all have those eating garbage moments...you'll be fine after the gym, have a good treadmill workout..:)

My legs are a bit tired from the 19 miler yesterday, but I'll run easy 4 or 5 miles after P90X Chest & Back, push-ups and pull-ups here I come!!

Have a great day...http://smilies.sofrayt.com/sae/july4_7.gif[/img]

Happy Memorial Day, ladies!

I went out for a 4.5 mile very hilly, hot & steamy run! It's gonna be another hot one out there!! I was going to do some speedwork, but it was just too darn hot & my legs just weren't up to it this morning! Maybe because I had a rest day y'day? I only drank about 16 oz water before my run (kind of a wake up & then run 15 min later morning!) & was feeling dehydrated by the time I hit about 3 miles. I'm guzzling a ton of water now & am off to shower. Then we're taking the kids to the Mem. day parade & having some family here for a cookout! I still have to finish making the deviled eggs & make a batch of cookies too! Better run, have a great day!

And Carole & Karen- thanks for the suggestions on my next Cathe purchases. I love MM & PUB/PLB. I think GS would be a good set for me to get, and then maybe slow & heavy.

Wendy- WTG getting back to routine today! Start fresh, we all have those days!!

Carole- you are SuperCarole!! Wow- 19 miles y'day & great workouts planned today!!!

Hugs,

RE: Happy Memorial Day, ladies!

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day:

Today it's suppose to get to around 93 degrees again! WOW, I just can't believe this weather for the end of May - this is like July weather for us here in Minnesota. It's gonna be a hot one this year, I'm guessing.

Wendy - I feel your pain with eating garbarge, like Carole said we all have those days, just get yourself back on track and a good treadmill workout will most definitely help you. I hope you enjoyed the food, though. At least if it was good stuff it was worth the splurge ;)

Carole - Great job on your 19 miler, you are superwoman. You are my hero for sure. :)

Jess - Great job getting your workout in early before all the festivities start for you and your family. Great feeling, isn't it? Enjoy your cookout :9

We are going four wheeling today and then back home I'm sure to grill out, too. We don't have much for plans, but that's OK, we can just take it as it comes. I didn't get up early enough to get a workout in before the heat started, so maybe I'll break in my elliptical after we return from four wheeling.

Take care everyone and have a great day!

~Marcia~

RE: Happy Memorial Day, ladies!

Thanks Jess...:)...sounds like you have a great day planned. Water is always good for you...:)..GS is an awesome series too...

Thanks too Marcia...:)..have fun 4 wheeling !

After my workout we will be putting up another fence in our big yard. We were given a dog (long story) she is Sadie in my Animal pics in my Picture trail account. Anyways she can right now get right thru the fence so we need to reinforce, so I'll be busy...:)

RE: Happy Memorial Day, ladies!

Good Morning Girls and Happy Memorial Day

Today for me was gymstyle chest and back and then the abs from slow and heavy bi and tri's. I was going to run for about 2 miles to loosen my legs from the 10 miles yesterday but I am in the same boat with Carole this morning. My legs are just flat out tired. They don't hurt or anything. They just plain feel heavy.

Marcia- Have fun 4 wheeling today. Enjoy your family and cookout.

Carole- You read my mind this morning. My legs are so stinking tired. I thought maybe it was from the heat of the run yesterday. They feel good, no doms, no knee problems, just tired. Have a great day today. I'll meet your for a run tomorrow.

Jess- The heat is kickin here to. I had the fan blowing right on me during my workout. 72 push- up's in the heat is like 200 in the cold.

Wendy- I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend. Don't worry about the food. Today is a new day. Your starting it off right by going to the gym. Have fun.

Gm & happy Memorial Day...

Just came in from my run...Bumped up to 32 minutes...Felt strong despite the heat and the fact that I'd forgotten to eat breakfast. Now I'm gonna summon up the energy to knock out GS BSB.

Some things I'm wondering:

**About many runners are part of the check-in?

**What does your weekly workout regimen look like? (I'm wondering bc in a thread elsewhere someone suggested to me that running 4x a week was too much...it seems that most Cathe followers believe in the "shock your body" theory of changing it up. I wonder if folks here feel that way.) For me, right now I am running 3-4x a week and strength training 4x a week.

**Where is everyone from? NJ here.

Hope everyone has a great day - whether it's a workout or rest day.

cathy :)

Good workout Karen. I'd love to meet you for a run tomorrow...:)...it'll be in the 80's here today so not too bad.

Cathy...not sure how many runners check in? Seems like alot...:)

Right now I am doing a modified P90X rotation, but as I am training for a 50K I am running 6 days a week as I feel for me that is best. I consider shocking your body with weights is more beneficial than shocking your body with cardio...I have always doen cardio and weights it seems like forever!! I live in sunny Northern Calif...:)

Wendy-That's what's so great about running--get a few more miles in and you'll start to feel better before you know it. Endorphins, sweating out the retained salt and fluids, etc. Have a great time at the gym and just chalk the weekend up to a good time.

Carole-I know, don't know how I survived a whole day with out you guys! 19 miles, hah! Well I hope you at least ran them fast and hard to make up for the wimpy factor. Have fun with the 'easy miles' today and the upper body ripping and "fence max".

ShellyC-Thanks for the cheetah fast award of the week! I can't wait to try out the 5K (you should really try one yourself;-) ) There's supposedly a "fairly" challenging hill on mile 2, I'll be thinking of you!

Jess-"Only run when chased", ROTFLMAO! Sounds about right! I love getting faster! WTG on the 7 min. mile! I'm still getting there, here's to hoping there will be some downhill to help:7 Yeah, water can make such a huge difference, as can running only 15 min. after you wake-up, sometimes your body just needs more time to "come around", especially in the heat! Have a great day! Your girls are SOO FREAKIN' cute by the way.

Elaine-Love you right back! Of course, our ranks are growing so much you only have time to do a complete mental list on the longer races:p Whoohoo! on the 10K time!!! You absolutely rock.

Marcia-Getting adjusted to the heat is tough! OOOHHH...new elliptical!!:D

Christine-Great to hear from you, even if only for a second, lol! Sounds like you haven't been too busy for some tough workouts "legs o' steel!"

Karen-Smart job on not increasing the mileage for such a hot day, being dehydrated can really suck! My race doesn't start until 9:30, so you'll be done before I even start, so can you pace the cheetah fast vibes onto me when you're done?;-) Let the legs rest and fry the chest, hmmm...sounds like what I'll be doing today!

Cathy-You are SO going to love your new DVD's! Imax 2 is solid fun from start to finish and Slow and Heavy will get you long way to the those guns for sure! I think probably about 20 in this check-in, some are here everyday, some are injured, some are here off and on. My regimen is usually something like 1 med. run (steady state), 1 interval run, one "long run", one short "easy run" (usually on a day I do other cardio or legs), I'm using the Gym Styles as produced right now. I also try to fit in a Cathe circuit, and some kick boxing or step, and some yoga every week. I'm from NY.

Yesterday I ended up doing a "long run" by myself in the heat (DH is nursing his right calf a little). It wasn't too bad when I started and there's quite a bit of shade on my route, so I ran 8 hilly miles and felt really strong! Today I'll be doing GS BSB, abs, and probably some mish mosh of Cathe, but not sure what yet.
Hello to Sarah, Kristi, Amy, Thomasina, Judy, Pamela, and Barb!
Have a great Memorial Day!
Just wanted to add that I uploaded some pics of the modifications I made to my Cathe Road Trip t-shirt that was too big. I want to do similar things to my race shirts as well so I can actually wear them.

Hi Running Friends :)

This morning I did a 6 mile hilly run and ankle weight work from Legs & Glutes.

Cathy - Like Carole I have done cardio and weights for about 15 years. My cardio has just recenty become mainly running though.

For the past month or two and continuing on my routine is:
Run - M W F & S
weights - either one body part per day or all upper body twice per week and legs once being sure to rotate Cathe DVDs to mix it up.
abs - 2 or 3 times per week
yoga - once per week more of a goal than an accomplishment

non-running cardio - one or two days, but in warmer months I'l be playing tennis and golfing so I will cut back on non-running cardio to fit it all in.

Carole- Will the fence be done in one day?

Wendy- don't worry too much about a cheat weekend. You will get right back to healthy habits! PS- I had some cookies yesterday too.

I agree about the water, especially for those running in the heat.

Good morning everyone!

Today I'll do PLB, core work and elliptical. I slept so hard last night. Running fast (fast for me anyway!) does that to me.

Welcome Cathy, Here's a list of the women who check in here. I hope I don't miss anyone.

Carole, Sarah, Gayle, Mattea, Christine, Amy, Karen, Pamela, Barb, Thomasina, Marcia, Wendy, Shelly, Laura, Kathy (she's injured pretty badly right now), Jess, Judy and me! (Sorry if I missed anyone. Be sure to chime in if I did.)

I live on the Central Coast of CA.

Carole, You are a machine!!! My golly, you put in the miles. I wish my body could handle that much!

Wendy, Ah yes, we all have those times of over indulgence in food. Too bad for me, it's hard to recall how crappy doing that makes me feel so I give in to the temptation more than I should. BUT, you were on *vacation* so I am glad to hear that you enjoyed all the way around. BTW, how was the massage?

Good morning to Karen, Jess and Marcia. All this talk of it being hot outside reminds me that summer is here. Where I live there is basically one mild season all year long.

Have a great day everyone!

Since I posted this at the same time as Mattea and Judy I just wanted to say "hello" to them and send Mattea off for an awesome 5K.

Cathy's questions and explanation of her screen name got me to wondering..... Some of your chosen screen names are obvious (as in "Imafitnessfreak") and others are not quite so obvious. Question: How did you choose it?

Question # 2: How old is everyone here?

Here are my answers. I had been using my full name for my login name and wanted to change it. A very dear friend gave me the idea of toughYrun. Initially, I didn't know what it meant but she was patient and gave me a biology lesson. The "Y" represents the extra Y chromosone that women have.

And my age is 46.

Very Cute Idea Elaine.

Ok, Karenvictoria is my first and middle name. To be honest when I first logged into Cathe and they asked for a user name I honeslty thought they wanted my real name. So there you go. Then I never changed it.

and I'm 33. and wouldn't want to change a year. I feel so much better and stronger at 33 then and year in my 20's. I love being my age having my kids and being married to my dh for 10 years in July.

Mattea- I will be sending out good vibes to you and Barb all day Sunday. I'll meet you for a banana after the race.

Good morning all - off for a long run today - 6-7 miles (compared to Carole's 19 miles it seems so wimpy... But I'll get there one day).
Then come back to P90X Chest Shoulders and Triceps and some kind of abs.

Wendy dear, I had a whole week like that, so I totally feel what you do. I'm finally back on track and feel 200% better. It's so nice to be back!

Carole - you always amaze me! 19 miles. WOW! I'll be thinking of you during our "dates" with Tony. Enjoy!

Jess - wow - running a run like that after 15 minutes up? You Iron Woman you! Way to go!

Marcia - Have fun 4 Wheeling! That sounds fun, especially in that heat. Hope you get some relief soon.

Karen - way to go on the 10 miles yesterday! I can certainly see why your legs would be pooped!

Cathy - Welcome! Sounds like you're getting a great start! Carole, Sarah and the others have the best advice. Glad you're joining in the fun!

Mattea - way to go on the 8 miler! Sorry DH's calf is still hurting. My DH actually ran 3 miles yesterday!

Judy - Great workout! Nice leg frier!

Elaine - I'm with you on the sleeping. I sleep so hard whenever I run long or hard. I think we have two seasons - rainy and summer. LOL.

Waves hello to any who follow. I'm debating on whether to do a long flat run or to go to a local Open Space and do a nice hilly loop twice. That would be 5.5 miles instead of 7, but I think it would be harder. I'll think about it.

Oh how fun! This will be interesting... I'm 41 and live in the San Fran Bay area.

Andtckrtoo - I used to do Search and Rescue, and needed an email address for all the search stuff I was getting. I was training my dog, Tucker, for Search as well, so I figured the mail should go to "both" of us - so I picked And Tckr (Tucker) too. The name stuck as no one else ever has that one, so it's easy to know I can log on as that.

Hi Cheetah Powerhouse runners,

Today I'm feeling happy because after the long run in the weird heat here, I am ok! I think all the extra stretching, slideboarding, floorwork, etc. has got me into a no-injury range (at least so far), so I'm feeling good. DH and I drove out to the start of the race to try to figure out the first 3 miles of the route. I"ve been running the last 10 miles, but that first three is a weird course. I talked to a friend who has run this race before and she had a lot of good suggestions.

I did Core synergistics today (loved it, loved it and then loved it some more -- but it's hard) and am leaving to go swim laps.

I'm glad everyone had a good day yesterday. I have to rush off, so only quick hellos for me.

Elaine -- gotta love those endorphins. You did so great yesterday:)

Shelly--I dutifully accept my new label as an enabler. Your 12 mile run sounds great and glad the shoes gave you a good grip as you ran.:)

Cathy -- Slow and heavy will definitely build you the guns. You have a lot of racing experience! I will have to count how many cheetahs check in here. It's a big group. I run 4-5 days a week. For me anything less than 4 is too little to keep me feeling loose on runs and "in a groove." I live in Michigan :)

Carole -- 19 miles as a wimp! Ha!!!!!! I dream of being a wimp!

Karen -- Hot weather is a beast. We had it here, too. I thought I was going to pass out way after my run when DH and I were planting flowers. I added some salt to my drink when I ran, though, and I'm pretty sure it helped. Karen, about your question about weights, I don't mean to enable you --but maybe you should get P90x? Maybe that series is the answer to weights and running dilemma??? I am totally impressed with what I am doing and seeing so far (just the StretchX and Coresynergistics). After the race, I'm doing some for the weight tapes and can't wait. (though I'll always be a catheite.)

Mattea-- 7:24 min mile? Do we have another bionic runner here? I loved your pictures!:)

Jess-- sounds like you braved the heat, too and did great. You definitely look tan and skinny in your photos -- and happy:)

Wendy -- I know the feeling of missing one too many workouts. I agree with Carole, you will be fine.

Judy -- I saw a TV show about core work to do with golfing. It was a lot of things that were on Coremax workout 2

Laura-hope you're feeling better:)

Christine -- I am starting to develop fondness for "goofy Tony." I can see why you like the tapes. How do you like Taebo? Which tapes do you recommend?

Marcia -- the game sounds fun, as does living in the Twin Cities. I was there a long time ago and loved the lakes.

Hi to everyone else who checks in later: Pamela, Kristi (?), Amy (?) others I am forgetting. I have to run before I am in time management trouble with DH.

Barb

:) :) :)

Ok..I'm addicted...I had to read one more time....

Great question Elaine:

I'm 43

My screen name is picked to capture my goal for exercising which is to get myself better/be challenged, move forward, but stay smart about it and not get re-injured, one day at a time.....
