runners check in 5/27

Sarah- now don't you go putting me into the same category as you!!
You are one amazing bionic lady!! Top 30 out of 800!!
I am altogether in the human category myself. I love your response to Gayle re: being competetive.

I have a confession to make. I have never participated in a 5K..frankly it scares me almost as much as a full marathon. I really should try one, it really makes one a more well rounded runner.

Hey, Sarah! THANKS for those words about today's race. I WAS ON FIRE too, but my kids were right there and I had to be 'good'. LOL. I am planning on sending the coordinator an email SOON!

You did FANTASTIC at your race! AWESOME PR! And, like you, I LOVE the kids races. They are so much fun and to see the smiles on their faces as they hear the crowd cheering for THEM is fantastic. My DS is starting to get quite a collection of bibs and ribbons! LOL

And, I agree...I am SO MUCH MORE the endurance athlete than I am a short distance/speed runner.

Gayle

It sounds like you did AWESOME!! WTG on PR'ing too!! That's always a great feeling! And woohoo on being in the top 30!! Let us know what rank you were!! ITA w/ the shorter distances being harder. I like the longer runs too, but those 5K's do help the speed! My dd can't wait for the fun run next month when I do my 5K again!!

Hope you're enjoying the rest of your day!!

Hugs,

RE: Recipe

Great job under the circumstances, Gayle!! I think you did great!! I'm sorry about your Mom, that's too bad that they would cut her off like that!! It sounds like she was ok w/ it, but still! I hope you're feeling better tonight. I felt that way a bit after my 5K too, mine was allergy issues though!

Let me know how you like the pancakes if you make them! I hope you had a good rest of your day!

Hugs,

Oh, and I forgot to post w/ my busy day but I ended up going out for a 3.5 mile run this morning!!! My 7yo dd keeps saying how she wants to bike while I run so I asked her how far she thought she could go? She said definitely 2 miles so I figured we'd head out & see how it went. I pushed my 5yo & 2yo in the double jogger. It was about 9:30 & just starting to get hot (about 78), but not too terrible yet (it hit 90 today!). Anyway, she did GREAT & we made it 3.5 miles!!! I was dripping w/ sweat by the time we got back & we all had a popsicle when we got home (sugar- free of course! ;-) ). I'm so excited at how well she did biking & she really had fun on the hills w/ her bike too! I definitely think it will be easier to go biking as a family this summer now! (my dh loves to bike, but hates to run!)

It's been a busy day & I'm finally getting back to the computer! The bridal shower was fun & the open house too. I think my kids are worn out & will head to bed soon! My dh & his brother got back home too, yeah!

Have a great night!

Hugs,

Elaine...you are making me laugh about your ranting on your DH !! :)...I know my DH used to run but knee surgery in 1987 made him stop..:(...so there are times I miss that..GOOD LUCK tomorrow!

Laura...my sister has a Garmin and loves it. I myself have a Timex HR/GPS as I like having my HR and also the miles on my long trail runs...

Shelly...glad to have another PLB 50,55,60 lifter...:)..I was tempted to drive to Sac for a training run tomorrow on the course I'll be pacing a girl, but too much stuff going on here. So spending a whole day down there won't work. I'll be running here and yes most likely 18-20 miles...:)..Great workout today!! You will have to let me know how the trail shoes work tomorrow..:)

Wow Gayle...sounds like a tough run!! You really can't expect to go faster in those kinds of conditions...so I think given the conditions you did GREAT!!! And that lady with the T-Shirt on her daughter...http://smilies.sofrayt.com/eng/beat.gif[/img] I'm sending your Mom a hug...she sounds like a great lady..:)

Sorry you are still feeling yukky Laura...maybe tomorrow will be better...:)

Sarah...way to go getting in the top 30 women runners...http://smilies.sofrayt.com/fsc/clap2.gif[/img] That is true about the shorter runs making you faster....I don't even know if I have ever done a 5K????..Maybe once..geeze, no wonder I am so slow...:)...That really is cool your kids ran too...

Well I burned my buns in TLT Better Burn Better Buns, I really like that workout.

Gayle and Sarah. Way to go girls. You both did fantastic. I'm glad the kids had so much fun. My next 5k is the first one with the fun runs for the girls. They are so excited.

Gayle I feel so bad about what happend to you and your mom. It just kills me the way how this is suppose to be a wonderful experience and for somthing like that to happen. At my last 5k a walker came in at 53:00 min and we were all there waiting for him. I am so thankful that my fist 5k was not like the one you just did or it would have turned me off completly. Plus, to top it all off with the mother and the kid with the shirt. Too bad you didn't have a shirt that said my mom is healthy your mom is an @ss. I'm sorry it is just so irritating . To have young boys and girls think of it in that way just kills me when I'm working so darn hard to teach my girls that it's not about weight, speed, being better. It's about being healthy and trying your best. Man that women is an !ss.

Karen-VERY well said.

I called my mom earlier to make sure she was doing 'ok'. Asked if she was upset at all with what happened. Mostly, she's disappointed. I told her that this doesn't happen and I believe she konws that. She's been following me and all the stuff I've been doing with my running so she's seen it.

The email to that coordinator is under construction! LOL
