Rumble--my review

I found that once I was actually doing the workout, those slower moves are great to really power up. It's good to slow down sometimes and feel your muscles work.

I agree!
I could really get some power out of (into?:)) the moves as well. BAM! ZAM! KERPLOOEY! SPLOOTCH! (those last two are what's happening to my 'opponent'!;))

yay for the reviews; I previewed mine this afternoon and have been on the fence about what workout to do today. guess I'll go for Rumble. ;)

I agree about Amy's customer service skills; honestly once I heard about her treatment of Margo, I instantly approved but when I heard about Margo in the credits I became a full-time Bento Fan. ;) I had ordered In the Ring at the time I pre-ordered Rumble. I mistakenly received ASC3 instead of In the Ring and Amy was great at her response to my email.

Of course, now I want better weighted gloves, a kettlebell, a bag, and on and on (and on!). :)

Amy is very sincere and very professional! I too want a kettlebell and bag for starters anyway!

Just got mine in the mail today, I love that Amy personalizes the receipt, nice touch! This is my first Amy DVD, I have 2 more coming I think (I've been ordering so much lately, I can't remember).

Thanks everyone for all the great and honest reviews, I'll give this one a go on Sunday.

As Margo's proud mom, thank you so much for taking a peek at her in the credits! Hope you enjoy your workout!

Did Rumble today.....

I finally got my copy of Rumble yesterday and decided to give it a try this morning. I wore my heart rate monitor and burned 500 calories in 61 minutes, just over an hour. I loved everything about Rumble---the simplicity, the drills, the low impact movement. Two thumbs up from me!!

I hope Amy creates more "Rumble" workouts in the future!

I'm excited about this workout because of the heavy bag section, but the fact that Margo is in the credits clinched it for me! I'll be buying it soon!

I did Rumble for the first time this morning, I really enjoyed it, and the hour just flew by! I didn't actually know it was an hour until I looked at the back of the DVD cover.

The stretch is interesting, I can't give my honest opinion on it yet, my cats like to hang around me when I get to the stretch portion of videos, but I couldn't really work around them with these moves in the video.

Hmmm...a cat-unfriendly stretch? Definitely a deal breaker, LOL! (for the stretch itself, not the entire workout!)

you guys are awesome!

Thanks for more great reveiws and the answer to my question. ENABLERS!!!! I should have preordered because I just love all of Amy's stuff. I did not realize the bag she used was not the heavy bag...but the standing one, good to know, and also did not know that I didn't have to have one! And I learned Margo's mom is around the forums. Thanks all.

The bag isn't necessary, but it certainly takes the intensity up and adds to the muscle-toning benefits of the workout. (A problem with not using the bag is that the modifer, who doesn't use the bag, often is just going through the motions and not putting much energy into the moves---and also has horrible form on jabs, which look like hooks.)

Did Rumble for the first time this morning and I have mixed feelings. I got a great workout from doing the whole 60 minutes, loved the bag work but felt the first part without the bag lacked energy to me. It just didn’t seem like Amy was her usual self. The speed bag arms between combos were SO SLOW. I believe Kathryn mentioned she sped them up and so did I.

I didn’t like the grab, throw, kick, kick sequence. It didn’t flow for me so I did like someone else suggested and made it a grab, knee smash, kick, kick. That felt more natural. Also, the timing seemed weird in one spot. The sequence was cross, cross, hook, hook, front kick where the cross, cross was fast but the 2 hooks were slow. I guess I’m just used to moves all being at the same tempo.

Maybe I’ll get used to these things the more often I do the workout. I don’t know.

The bag work, on the other hand, was more fun to me because, well, I love to punch and kick the bag. :D It was a bit repetitious though. It would have been fun to do some spinning backfists or 30 seconds punching as fast as you can. The roundhouse is my favorite kick on the bag and the hook kick really works your booty so I liked those. I hope more instructors make workouts that use the bag.

I started doing the stretching sequence but the stretch with weights where you kick your legs out and lean forward hurt my hips after a few times so I stopped the dvd and did stretching on my own.

I didn't mind the tempo change in the jab-jab, hook-hook segment, but she didn't cue it well ("jab-jab, hook-hook...that tempo"...nope, Amy, that's NOT the tempo you are using, LOL!).

I LOVE roundhouses in general (focusing on the recoil really gets the hamstrings) and the ones on the bag really make a nice SMACK!.

SOMETHING definitely worked MY booty: maybe it was the hook kicks (though I'd think they'd get the hamstrings more, if done the way they are supposed to be done, 'hooking' the lower leg back). I've got some DDOMS (DEEP DOMS!) at 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock--if someone were looking at my booty from the back), and I don't recall ever having it in that specific spot after KB.

You're right. If she would have cued it "jab, jab, half-time hook, half-time hook" I might have gotten it sooner and been less frustrated with the tempo change.

Or if she had actually said it at the tempo it is: jab-jab.....hook....hook.

She also didn't cue the jab-cross-jab/jab-cross-jab 2x , knee, knee well. "Jab-cross-jab/jab-cross-jab" doesn't let you know it's repeated, or that it's followed by two knees (or is it one? I forget). Luckily, the choreo isn't complex, so it's easy to pick up after one rep.

I'd have to review what she said again to be sure but I thought she cued jab/cross/jab, cross/jab/cross so you kept alternating the arm you started with (front vs. back) but she didn't say how many of these we'd do. (I quickly figured out it was 2 of each.) Those were exhausting BTW!

I"m glad so many people have enjoyed it.

I stand alone, with my negative review. :( On a positive note, I have mine up for sale on eBay,....for anyone who'd like to give it a whirl. Just not my thing.

I DO love ASC3 though!!!!!!!
