Good Morning,

This morning I went on a run with one of my dogs. (We have two but the one has hip problems so I do not think running would be the best for her). I am on week five day one of the Couch to 5k program.

I am reading Cesar's Way. It is by the guy who has the Dog Whisperer show on the National Geographic Channel. His theory on dog training is we hurt our dogs by treating them like little humans. By treating them like "our babies" we are not the "pack leaders" in our dogs mind so they do not listen to use. Before I read his book if my dog would pull and act poorly around other dogs I would try to correct her in my stern voice. I would also tense up when I would see other dogs because I would predict that she was going to behave poorly.

However went I went running today I followed Cesar's suggestions. During our walk I put my dog on a short leash so she was not walking in front of me. I also held my head up high and tried to give off calm assertive energy. When we would pass another dog I would keep my head held up high and act like it was not big deal that another dog was there. About half way through our work out my dog started to behave much better. She stopped pulling so much and she started to behave more calmly around other dogs.

Have a fun weekend everyone:)

Good Morning RTers!

Today I did Baron Baptiste's Unlocking Athletic Power yoga and I may walk later. It is supposed to be my "rest" day.

Belinda--I did KPC yesterday. My DH poked his head in the room where I was working out and said that I looked like I was having a lot of fun! That is a fun one!

Jacque--I have read Cesar's Way. Have you seen his tv show? Are you a beginning runner doing the couch to 5K? Or have you been running for a while? My running friends would always take their dogs. What a great running buddy to have. I have a 15 lb. Corgi...so no 4 legged running buddy for me!

Have a great day!

Gin:)

Hi ladies! Well, I didn't last too long at work last night. Ended up with some kind of a stomach bug. Nothing quite like wanting to curl up in a ball on the floor in agony, but having to instead smile and seat people and take orders. I made it 3 hours and then had to leave. Longest 45 minute drive home of my life. I'm feeling much better today, thank goodness! Guess it was my body's way of saying "NO" to 14 hours of work. I plan to start the Pure Strength series today, not sure which segments, but I'm hoping to get two out of the way so I can get back in sync with my rotation. I also plan to do some cardio - probably a combination of a Cardio Coach on the bike and then one of Cathe's old step tapes.

Belinda - Have fun with KPC! :)

Jacque - That is really neat that you can take your dog running with you. :) I have wiener dogs, so none of them would even make it down the driveway! I will have to check out that book you mentioned. I'm afraid all of my dogs are definitely treated like little humans. :/

Gin - How do you like "Baron Baptiste's Unlocking Athletic Power yoga"? I've been looking for another yoga workout and thought I might try this one if it's good.

Just as a little side note, I did the abs section on the Biceps and Triceps section of Slow and Heavy on Thursday and boy am I feeling it today! I usually have a hard time making my abdominal muscles sore. I'll have to stick that 7 minute segment in somewhere this week too.

Hi RT's.

I taught class this morning and soon am off to take a walk. That's the workout for the day.

Because of someone here mentioning this oatmeal concotion, I now have a new favorite way of eating oatmeal. Of course it involves PB... I mix my oatmeal with a tablespoon of PB ( I actually salivate when I watch the PB melt right in... ooooh, yummy!) and then mix splenda and a scoop of chocolate ( Designer Whey) protien powder. I have been eating this every day for the last few days and I am so hooked!! Just thought I'd share!

I agree with you guys on KPC, I love it!! Only thing is I have the video so I don't have all the premixes! BOOHOO ;(

I did just buy the SS/PP DVD yesterday from Ebay for 15.50!! ( 2.25 shipping) Not bad, I just hope it's in good condition! I can't wait to get it and try something new. DH doesn't know that I ordered it but I think I'll just push the Mother's day thing further... works like a charm!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Hi trippers. I like the Mother's Day idea. I may have to order myself one of the DVDs that I only have on VHS.

I did the KPC premix yesterday and got all sweaty. I have learned the trick of doing the stability ball abs first though. Enjoy it, Belinda.

Liann, I guess those long days took their toll on you. I'm glad you are feeling well enough to workout.

Hi, Jacque. Nice running/walking partner.

Today's workout is supposed to be a premix from C&W, but I have it on VHS, so no premix. If I have time after work, I'll just do the whole thing. I have a dinner to go to tonight for my retiring boss. I was the major planner, so I hope it goes well and everyone is happy with the meal. Of course, there will be cake. And there is leftover cake from yesterday, his last day of work. I'm thinking of signing on for the clean eating for 7 days challenge. By tomarrow, I'll be so sick of cake that eating clean should be, well, a piece of cake!

Hi ladies. Hope you are having a wonderful day. Today's workout was S&H C/B + Icycle 17. Tomorrow is legs so I'll either do S&H legs or B&G.

I signed up for the 7 day clean eating challenge. I don't want another lousy weekend of eating non stop. :)

Hi Again!

Liann--Sorry you were feeling under the weather. Baron Batiste's Unlocking Athletic Power is only 27 min. long, but I do like it. I bought it at Half Price Books, but I think it was orginally sold in a series of 3 dvds. I don't have the other 2. I own 2 other yoga dvds of his and like both...Level 2 and Level 3.

Vicki--Yes, I have tried that yummy oatmeal concoction and try also adding 1T of wheat germ and 1T. of ground flax seed. Good price you got on PP/SS.

Robin--Good idea to do the stability ball abs section 1st in KPC. Thursday I was so sweaty, I fell of the ball. That was a first!!

Gin

ETA:*****Which do you suggest I buy PS Series or S&H? I would like both, but which do you guys prefer?

Road Trip Check-in

Mercy! This has been a busy week. I finally have a moment to catch my breath and update y’all on my journey. My clutter clearing project was a huge success. I worked my butt off this week, and my hard work was rewarded. A week ago, every flat surface (including my bed) was covered with piles of stuff. When I returned home tonight, I did a double take and wondered if I was in the right place! I worked on this project all last weekend as well as every morning and every evening this week. I was overwhelmed Wednesday night, but I prayed and persevered. I am so glad! I went to the office Thursday morning for a few hours, returned home, and cleaned without ceasing from noon until well after midnight! I cleaned, scrubbed, moved furniture and piles, dusted and vacuumed every inch of this place, sorted, filed, and organized. In addition to the mountain of clutter Rebecca and I removed from my home Sunday morning, I hauled out 8 boxes and 3 large trash bags of stuff to throw away, give away, or consign. I am blown away by how much stuff I removed from this place in one week. I still have a lot of work to do, but I am fired up now and inspired to finish the job. Everything is organized. I know exactly what is in here and where it is. The remaining clutter is contained to 8 boxes stored in a nook between the dining room and kitchen. My closets are in order. My fitness closet looks amazing. I reduced my fitness shoe collection to a respectable dozen, and all my workout shoes fit in a hanging shoe organizer. No more shoe clutter on my living room floor! I have an entire closet in my living room devoted to fitness and travel. The top shelf houses my suitcases, a fan, and an umbrella. My workout clothes are all on hangers in that closet. A blue crate on the floor of the closet is the new home for weights that are not used on a regular basis, and my weighted balls and home step are stored neatly in that closet as well. My tubing and bands are on a hanger. My rebounder, club step, high step with risers, barbell, and weights are stored neatly on the right side of my workout area below my windows. The barbell and weights actually fit under the club step platform. The risers live under my high step topper. My workout area looks really nice, and I am excited about not needing to move anything before I get started every morning! All my workout DVDs are stored neatly on the top shelf of a bookcase next to my TV and DVD player. My books and Bible study materials are stored on the middle shelf and the bottom shelf of the bookcase. I put my magazines and catalogs in a basket next to the bookcase. There is a lamp on top of the bookcase and a wooden rocking chair next to it. My favorite teddy bears (that make my heart smile) have a home on top of the bookcase. I have a lovely place for prayer, pondering, Bible study, and reading! I cleared out a bunch of old magazines and catalogs. I reduced my collection of Collage Video catalogs to the few with pictures of Ya Yas. I could not believe how many years of those things I found.

I had several distractions Thursday that threatened to derail me. I finished a project at work for a client just in time to leave at noon. My vacuum cleaner started spitting out dust. A CD got stuck in my computer while I was backing up my computer. I called Best Buy, and the guy promised to fix it for free, but I did not have time to drive across town. I prayed over it and restarted my computer. Thankfully, I was able to set it free!

I am so pleased with my progress. For the first time in my life, I believe with all my heart that I can and will conquer clutter for good. My home is neat and clean, and 80 percent of the clutter has been removed from here. I still need to shred boxes of old bank statements and bills and reduce my collection of CDs and videos. I still have filing to do, and I want to organize pictures and put them in albums or scrapbooks. All my CDs are in their respective cases for a change, and they are stored in one dresser drawer. All my pictures are in a storage box, and all the albums are stored with them. There are no dirty dishes in my sink. There are no piles of laundry in my basket. I am amazed! I need to keep pressing on until it is accomplished because I do not want to have boxes in my dining room forever, but anything is better than tripping over piles of stuff! Cleaning will be faster and simpler now that I do not need to move piles first!

The bad news is that I lost some ground on the fitness front. I was wiped out after cleaning until midnight every night. I did not exercise at all this week. I am having Cathe withdrawals!

My eating has not been good either. I jumped off the clean eating boat yesterday and dove into a lake of sensual indulgence. I am having a delightful visit with my mother and her husband, but I have been doing way too much celebration eating. It started Friday morning with a trip to my favorite cafe for homemade blueberry pancakes with butter and maple syrup. These are buttermilk pancakes with fresh blueberries added to the mix. Yummy! We drove to Fredericksburg and enjoyed a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. The deli did not have sweet tea, so I indulged in a Dr. Pepper. After 130 days of plant-based eating, I ate my first meat of the year Friday night. We went to Cotton Patch, and I had a grilled chicken sandwich on a whole wheat roll with honey mustard and fries washed down by sweet tea. This morning was a cinnamon roll with Dr. Pepper for breakfast. We went to my favorite tea and coffee shop for lunch, and I enjoyed a grilled cheese sandwich with 3 cheeses on 7-grain bread, salt and vinegar chips, and frozen lemonade. Dinner tonight was a petite Dallas filet from Texas Roadhouse, a baked potato with butter and sour cream and cheese, a yeast roll, house salad with honey mustard dressing, and more sweet tea. Did I mention the chocolate and the cheesecake? Yes, I am planning to face the music tomorrow morning and step on the scale. I feel like I have gained 10 pounds! I have a food hangover tonight. I am hoping to get back on track with clean eating tomorrow. I need to start my 12-week Cathe rotation too if I can move!

Now that I have confessed all my food sins, I am going to rest and relax. Have a blessed Sunday!

Blessings,
Heather B.
