Rounded Belly Check-in Week of May 17th

Susan, only 6 pounds at 19 weeks? And you were worried!! NEVER heard of the Dr. Pepper thing -- sounds...interesting!

I've been trying hard to eat better too -- more protein, more complex carbs. I commented to DH last night that I may hate the heat and humidity of summer, but I sure love the better prices on all the delicious fruit and veggies. We've been enjoying strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and grapes like nobody's business.

I pulled out my Clean Eating magazines for inspiration, and decided to actually plan my menu for next week. I tend to be more spontaneous in the kitchen (I don't know on Sunday what I will want to eat on Thursday!), but I'm going to try it this way. And I've got the cut up red bell peppers, carrot sticks, and celery sticks in the fridge for hummus dipping ;)

And I've been making a lot soup this week; I figure it's a great way to get a lot of veggies in during the day!

Hey Allison!
I love all the fresh fruit too. Luckily I have been craving it. BUT...I have been eating chocolate ice cream nightly this week..NOT GOOD. We can cleani it up!

Just a quick post, yesterday went well....once I got past 10AM & crashed to bed at 8PM. One more day,..... I CAN DO THIS!!!!!

Susan- 6 lbs! That's my goal! I have two weeks until my next "weigh in" so hopefully I will be under 10! I have been craving lots of fruit too! A friend at work has a cooking magazine that has all kinds of fruit salads and cold pasta salads that I may try to make. I hear ya about the ice cream, I've been eating brownies and ice cream every night! No more! I did have a small Reese's cup last night after dinner. I still NEED something sweet! :)

Pennstater- I like to cook two meals on Sunday-usually a crockpot and then a casserole to help start the week out. DH is usually off during the week sometime so I will make him grill chicken or turkey burgers so that helps out. Sometimes we just settle with a Kashi pizza for a quick meal too!

Melanie- You can do it girl! Only one more day! I think about you all the time and pray that you get some energy back!

Hi to everyone else! I'll check back later!

Morning!
Meal 1-Kashi Go Lean 1/2 banana

Jen-I too need something sweet after meals. Im gonna try popcicles..love the orange ones!
I make a pot of soup each Sunday for my lunches during the week. This week was Ellie Kreigers Green Pea Soup. Its really good. Not sure what I will make for next week. I have been craving salsa so I keep a batch of homemade salsa and eat that as snacks or with my soup. I know its wierd..but I eat the salsa like soup..so chips or anything.
Last night we were bad and got Taco Bell. I had a bean buritto. Im cleaning it up!!
Jen-I enjoy the Kashi pizza's too!

Melanie-I"ll be sending you some good vibes today. Hang in there..you can do it!!!
Ok..gotta get Bubbles to the vet for her grooming and dd to school. Then I will come workout. bbl

My MIL came on wednesday and she was there for the sonogram. My due date is Dec 5th.

Off to watch a movie, I'll be back later

luprisi, congrats on the maybe-baby-boy diagnosis!

We had our U/S today. It is *most* definitely a BOY! He was not bashful in revealing himself to us LOL! DD is very excited to finally know what it is. She was convinced it was a girl, but she insisted today that we buy him blue bibs and a new outfit, "because he'd look funny in my old clothes, Mommy." Too cute!

We're having filet mignon tonight -- a belated anniversary dinner (we hit 5 years last Friday) and a kick-off to the holiday weekend. I'm trying 2 different Cooking Light rubs, so we can have some variety :)

Hi

Priscilla- Congrats on such a great u/s! That will be cool if she is right about a boy!

Allison- Hooray for a boy! A friend of ours gave us a bunch of his boy clothes and they are sooo cute! I'm hoping I can use them so I am wishing for a boy! That is so funny what your DD said. ;)

Susan- I am ashamed of what I ate today so I won't post even though it wasn't too bad. But I did break down and have ice cream. I HAVE to get it out of the house and I don't want to throw it away! ;P

Jen-wellllllllll..we just got back from Walmart and I found myself putting another 1/2 gallon of chocolate Blue Bell in the cart..help me!!! I"ll try and be good though! We need to enjoy being pregnant..but seriously try not to go overboard!

So boys are winning out, eh? ;)

I'm not feeling very well, but wanted to at least say hello. I have this rotten metallic taste in my mouth all the time. Anyone else have this?

Well, off to bed now. Chat tomorrow. :D

Melanie-get a good nights rest girl! Yes, I had the metallic taste big time the first 2 months....that and very dry mouth.

Hi to everyone!!!!!!

Wow, a trip? That'll be fun, Susan.

I have six days off!!! I'm pretty excited,...hopefully these are my last blah days!!

This AM I felt good, so I pre-made 3 dinners. I feel like i have to do stuff like this while I can handle aromas & such....otherwise all we eat is McDonalds. :( Can't get DH to cook for the life of me. :( A girlfriend is going 2 bring us over a pan of lasagna for Tuesday....what a sweetie!

Now, I'm not feeling so hot,...so I'm going 2 lay back down for awhile.

Does anyone else have fun plans for the holiday weekend?

Where are all our preggos!
Melanie-that is great you have 6 days off! You need and derserve it! Are you staying at home or going somewhere? Hope you are feeling better.

m3 homemade pizza on a ww tortilla with turkey pepporoni, jalapenos and pineapple, 2% cheese.
We are grilling out burgers for dinner and Ive got a turkey burger ready for myself.

I made the brownies to take and made myself a small one..and yes I ate it!!!! I love to bake but its so bad for me.

HI ladies

Allison, a boy for you! I'm excited just thinking that mine could be a boy too. DH would be ok either way but I think he leans more toward a boy. How cute your DD's comment!

Susan, good for you on putting on just 6 pouds. That's excellent. I already put on 7 pounds during the first semester only. I'm feeling much better, not so nauseaus but every day I have this burning sensation at my esophagus that is killing me. I got some Pepcid and the docto gave me Protonix sampleas as well
BTW, I am so happy to learn that there were no markers in your US and that everything went great! Good news!

Melanie, one day at a time, I know is gonna get better for us in few weeks YEAH!

Jen, I hope your wishes come true. When would you find about your baby's gender?

Hi to everyone else, I'm off to cook with my MIL. Is anybody a UFC fan?? DH is watching an important fight tonight, so I'm not going to bed early tonight...

Good evening preggos! I missed ya'll but I had a wonderful day. I walked to CC Vol 6 (First two challenges only-40 min) and felt great! I didn't realize how much I missed Coach Sean! I got some laundry done and then spent some time with my dad and his g-friend; we went to see X Men-Wolverine (or something like that). I love the X Men movies and I thought this one was the best yet! I got home and made a spinach greek pizza on whole wheat crust...yum! I also stopped at our local greek restaurant and picked up some hummus! This baby craves garlic I guess!

m1- ww eng muff, egg beaters, banana
m2-kashi go lean, oj
m3- veggie pasta (leftovers)
m4- some movie theatre popcorn and peanut m&ms
m5- two slices of greek spinach and feta pizza
Not bad!

Priscilla- I won't find out the sex for another two or three weeks. I have a dr's visit first and then will probably schedule the u/s for the week after. I can't wait to find out! I like to watch UFC but wouldn't really call myself a fan because I don't follow it. When I am not pregnant, I like to watch any sport that goes along with a few beers! ;)

Melanie- That's awesome that you have 6 days off! You deserve it girl! If I lived near you, I would love to cook for you and bring you food! How sweet of your friend!

Susan- Would you post or PM your edmame/black bean recipe? That's sounds good!

HI!
Jen-good job on your eats today.
I had my turkey burger and a few bakes fries...thennnnnn a small brownie and ice cream...grrrrrr.

Here is the recipe!

1 pound string beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces (I use whole frozen g beans)
1 (10-ounce) bag frozen shelled edamame (green soy beans)
3 tablespoons canola oil
3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
1/4 cup 100 percent fruit apricot preserves
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
2 scallions, sliced
Salt
Directions
Put the string beans and frozen edamame into a steamer basket and steam them for 5 minutes. Transfer the beans to a large bowl and put them into the refrigerator to cool for 15 minutes or longer.

In a small bowl whisk together the oil, vinegar, apricot preserves, sugar and ginger. Add the black beans and scallions to the other beans, drizzle with dressing, and toss to coat. Season with salt, to taste.

I leave out the ginger most of the time..and use scallions when I remember to buy them! This is better the day after you make it..and gets better with time.

Melanie-hope you got some rest today.
Pricailla-glad you are feeling a bit better...sorry for the heartburn though. You have not had it easy girl! THank you for your well wishes!!

I am in the market for either and elliptical or a spin bike and I cannot decide what I want...any suggestions??

Susan, Step Blast?! You go, girl! I did Cardio + Weights on Thursday. I did the first cardio segment using a 6" step. Had to drop to the platform because I was so winded -- I felt like I was cheating LOL Is Ellie's pea soup in her Food You Crave cookbook? I love that cookbook!

Jen, Wolverine is my favorite of the X--Men. Well, okay, it's just because it's Hugh Jackman!!

Melanie, enjoy your 6 days off! I've started making meals to freeze, for nights I don't want to cook and for September and October, when I'm too tired to cook LOL My mom just got me the Don't Panic...Dinner's in the Freezer and Don't Panic...More Dinner. Last week I made my favorite Bolognese sauce (a Weight Watchers recipe) -- a big double batch. Yum!

Priscilla, DH and I both thought it was a girl, since he has 3 girls already LOL We were both shocked. And now we'll have to start the never-ending name game. We could NOT agree on any boy names last time. We didn't find out gender last time, so we were *still* trying to think of a boy name while I was in labor. We made no progress, so it was a blessing unto itself that DD was a girl LOL
