Roadtrip next year

I think I will go to the roadtrip next year. I only dicovered Cathe last february. It seems like fun.

Well, good luck! This year's sold out in 3 minutes. You have to be quick on the button :)

Some people have suggested that they do it by lottery. I think that's a great idea. Just as long as I get in ;)

I don't much like the lottery idea. I think it should be first come first serve, & that registration shouldn't be announced in advance the way it was this year. I mean, I work for pete's sake, I don't know where I'll be or what I'll be doing at 12 sharp on a Friday.

In 2005 registration opened on a Friday afternoon without advanced announcement & I was still able to get in on Monday morning. I had no idea there'd actually be people sitting & waiting at their computers this year to register.

OK, some sour grapes, but when registration closes in less than 5 minutes & you have no way of scheduling your life around being at the computer the second something happens, you're kind of SOL. x(

I definitely think that registration should at least start on the weekend, when people are usually more in control of their schedules. Starting it at noon (ET, not noon for everyone) on a Friday is rather unfair to those who work. (More sour grapes to add to Laura's, LOL!)

I'm not sure what is fair. And let's face it, life isn't fair. I was lucky to be off that day, and at home babysitting. I'm rarely near my computer on weekends. Maybe a lottery would be the best way...If there is one next year, someone can have my spot. It's too expensive for me to do every year. I sure hope to go again in my lifetime though.

I did get in on the Road Trip this year and it was awesome - I'd love to go again - but I truly hope they let people that have never been to one go to enjoy the experience.:)

That's exactly why the lottery idea is a good one. It gives everyone a chance, regardless of what time zone they're in. I also like the idea of making the next one open to those who have not attended before, first. (not that I'm going - exercise at 7 a.m. on a Saturday? not me - that's prime sleeping time! haha). It looks like it was a lot of fun, however.

Knowing what the demand was like this year, I hope SNM decides to hold multiple normal sized RT's during a year, or one big one in a larger venue, so there are enough spots for those wanting to get in to actually get in.

I don't like the lottery idea. All the stress of having to sign up to maybe get in or not get in, or hope that all the planets line up exactly right so you're on your computer and at the registration page precisely when it begins would make the whole thing too stressful to be worth it for me. I don't like stress...stress is bad.

I know it probably isn't possible, but I liked the idea they threw out about possibly doing 2 road trips so that everyone who wanted to could go.

You just have to stay positive and do the best you can to get in, whatever means they make available. Unfortunately, it's impossible to make it fair all the way around. I figure, I'll get there one of these years. I expect Cathe to be sweatin' & pumpin' for a long time to come. If nothing else, I have my favorite group of people here to share the daily excitement we feel over being fit.

You know, Jimmy's concert sell out in a matter of minutes too....No one has ever suggested a lottery for popular concert tickets.

The lottery idea is OK but personally I think it's fine the way it is. I know several people who were at work or unavailable when they opened it up but wanted to go so badly they made arrangements to have someone stalk it and sign them up (aren't husbands great?) so it worked out for them. With a little planning and stalking :p anything's possible.

So true...

That's a good point, Robin. People who really want those tickets make an extra effort to get them. First come, first served - even if it means camping out overnight in front of the ticket sales office.

I honestly don't know what the answer should be for the Cathe RT... I can see all sides of it, really. First come, first served makes sense because that's just the way things in life are. A lottery makes sense because it gives everyone a fair shot, regardless of work schedule or internet connection speed. A drawback of the lottery, I predict, is that people who want to go on the RT together, may not get to because they may not all get chosen at the same time.

Please continue to express your opinions in registration for future road trips. This will help us determine the very best method and approach for registration.

Thank you,
Kathy S., DebbieH, and Lorrayne

Well, I didn't discover Cathe until shortly after the registration for the Road Trip, so I was definitely too late for this year's RT. I sure hope I can manage to go to the next one. I think first come, first serve is probably the most fair, though maybe with a weekend registration as some suggested (personally almost any time would probably work for me since I'm a SAHM). If not weekend, then maybe in the evening (though again probably hard with different time zones to please everyone).

I just know I'll be checking the blog/website/forum often enough that I'll hear about the next one in time. :)
