Road Trip Check-in ~ Weds, April 18th

Fitness-Mom

Cathlete
Good Morning, Roadtrippers ~ :)

I am normally the last person to post so early, but since I have so much on my plate today I had to force myself to get up @ 5 a.m. to exercise. Now I understand why I don't wake up early anymore, I have NO ENERGY whatsoever!!! How do you guys do it? Do you eat something prior to working out?

I did the Step Blast Challenge (1)time on a 8-in step, I was wiped out! Of course I felt guilty not feeling I did enough so I put it back in and attempted to do the challenge again, not happening...LOL I got to the 1st blast and shut it off. Since I am following the BFL program, it only calls for 20 mins HIIT, but I sometimes feel I need to do more.

Off to work a little earlier this morning. I have to run my son to the hospital after work for a CT scan on his ankles & feet. He has a lot of problems, being so flat-footed doesn't help him any. Plus he is 6'2" 220 pds, @ 16 years old ... I had him to a podiatrist and they believe he has arthritis in his ankles and feet. Boy, it's always something isn't it?

So how many days to the RT, is anyone doing a count down?
Have a great day!!!

Take Care -

Good Morning:)
Spring is finally here in Kansas City it's been in the 70's the past couple days:)
Have not decided what i'm going to do today, I might just do cardio or legs just to leave my arms alone they are so so sore!
I need to start getting some cute workout outfits for the road trip, have to start saving some money which is hard for me to do:)

Jennifer Hope your son is going to be ok:) What I do to get me energized in the morning is have a sugar free energy drink, my favorites are sobe adrinalin rush or no fear. I hate coffee so this helps alot:) Awesome workout today I cant really do step on a 8' because of my knees.

Jose how do you like the April rotation? Have a great workout!

Good morning all.

Jennifer, is your son athletic? I f he is he must have a lot of foot pain. I'm sorry he's haveing trouble

TK, luck you getting to Kohl's. I need to do that too. I have a mishmosh of wo clothes. As for bras. Well I hang on to them a long time. I ususally wear two, a light one and a supportive one. I guess if I used one good one I may be OK. I'm not that large, I just hate the bounce. :)

I finished GS C/t today and added Cathe's bonus cardio. It was a great workout. For some reason, I had tons of strength! I was able to do every 3rd set of PU on my toes!

I'll be back later for more

Thank you everyone!

My son is very athletic, he plays Basketball & Football, but lately it has been very hard for him to run. It's either his knees or ankles flaring up on him. I have already talked to his Podiatrist this morning... (it's his Dad's GF brother). They are also going to order another set of X-ray's to make sure. She has been great through this whole thing, and where is his Dad...?? Out fishing, well that's a whole other story their...LOL

About 6 months ago he had an MRI done on his knee, he kneecap is not aligned properly. The physical therapist noted this was due to his flat-feet.

Ahhh...Thanks for letting me vent, you guys are great!!!!

Looks like we are going to get lucky here in the PA area, back to the 70's by this weekend :)

Good morning roadtrippers! I was too busy yesterday to check in on all you lovely ladies:( On Monday I had a terrific long run (14 miles) I've recently recovered from injuries and it is so wonderful to be running strong and pain free again:7 Yesterday I squeezed in DM (one of my favs!) before my nap. I'm posting from work, almost done with my 12 hr shift (7p-7a)

Jennifer- Wow, your son is so young to be having so many problems with his feet/ankles!!! He may have to switch to a more non-impact sport, although those are hard to come by for a teenager! Sorry your energy level wasn't up to par for ya! I rarely try to work out on an empty stomach myself. I find it helps to have a little something for fuel on board.

Josie- Watch out for that SB portion of PUB}( Alot of people do it first since the arms are so fried after the bicep portion.

Randi- How nice that your mild spring temps have returned!!! So get out there and run!! }( }( I'm a terrible enabler when it comes to running;-)

Phyllis- Great job on the GS C&T:7

Laura- Welcome!!! I read your post from yesterday and was quite impressed with your story! My sister was a missionary in Africa for years and I have an idea of what you go through daily. It is awesome that things worked out for you so you can attend this RT!!

For today it'll be a 30-40 minute interval run when I get home. I'm preparing for a 5k race this Saturday. When I wake up I'll do some kind of total body weight workout.... maybe PH.

Have a good one!

Good morning RT's

Just a quick check in this morning as I have to go teach cardio/sculpt.

Got up early today so I could do some heavy upper body work before class... well, procrastination set in and here I sit at the computer with 45 minutes before class starts! So, I think I will just heavy up during class and then possibly throw in some extra cardio tonight, perhaps some treadmill. During my class I don't generally go very heavy as it makes it harder for me to teach, but I guess today I will just have to do it!

Actually, my procrastination this morning is because I have been watching the morning shows about the Virginia Tech. massacre and I am just heartbroken. I think about all of those young lives just taken, and then I think about all the parents and what they will now go through, how their lives will never again be the same. As a mother who has had a child who died, that is always where my heart goes...

Anyway...

Jennifer, good luck with your son. Hope he does well...

Everyone else, enjoy your day. I'll try and check back later!

Goodmorning fellow trippers.

Today I'm inspired by all of the IMAXers yesterday. I plan on doing IMAX2 when I get home this afternoon. This evening I'm attending a sort of cooking class. A good friend of mine owns a cooking store and they have all sorts of one evening classes. I've never gone, since they are kind of expensive, but she talked me into this one. It is given by the author and one of the owners of the Moosewood restaurant in Ithica. Along with the class, I get a copy of the newest cookbook. Years ago, I gave away a moosewood cookbook, because the recipes were just too many ingredients and too complicated. This cookbook is supposed to be simpler meals for regular cooks, not restaurant chefs.

Vicki, I know what you mean. I keep thinking about the parents of the kids. Especially the shooters parents. Can you imagine having to live with knowing your child did such a thing?

Shelly, you amaze me. Such tough workouts, then a 12 hours shift.

Josie, I'm tired of the clouds too.

Randi, send some of that 70 weather here please. Even with nice forecasts for the weekend, it's only supposed to be in the 60's.

Phyllis, I'm not looking for new workout clothes till closer to August. If I buy them now, I'll wear them for sure, then still have nothing nice for the RT.

Jennifer, arthritis at 16! Yikes, I hope not. Good luck to your son.

Have a great day everyone else to come.

Morning everyone.

Last night was GS CT. And yes, I can do almost all of the pushups on my toes. Now, not all of them are the best form, but you know, it is an accomplishment to finish and my form will get better.

Tonight is probably yoga. I am extremely tired. Work has just been exhausting. I have planned a spa vacation the second week of June. I am REALLY looking forward to it. It sounds like bliss.

I am trying to stay away from the news because I just can't handle it.

Have a great day.

Morning Ladies!

Todays workout.....IM2.
I went out and got new workout shoes yesterday. I am a New Balance girl, believe me I tried on Nike, Reebok, but I kept comming back to NB. I had definately wore out the cushioning in my shoes. It was amazing, they were like standing on concrete compared to the new ones.

Jennifer-It is 113 days..14 hours till the RT:) Hope everything goes alright with your sons CT scan today.

Josie- enjoy your workout today!

Randi- don't even get me started on the new workout clothes...I'm in the same boat as you, I need to save a little $$$ first:)

Phyllis-I hang onto my workout bras a little too long also...the elastic all fraying at the bottom. I have to wear two just to get the same effect one used to give me..LOL!

Shelly- 14 mile run..12hr. shifts, and DM?! My hat is off to you!:)

Vicki-I know, I can't imagine what those poor parents are going through, very sad.

Robin- I know all that talk yesterday about IM2, I had to do it today also:)

Hi Belinda <wave>:)

Ivory- good job on all those push ups!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Michelle

Off to get ready for work:(
Have a great day everyone

:)

Hey, gals.

I'm a little overwhelmed trying to keep everyone straight on the check-in, especially when some of us have the same name! Please tell me it gets easier the more you check in. I went through and made a list, and there are around 50 of us who have introduced ourselves. I haven't quite made it through all the threads in the RT Forum. The good news is, we'll have "met" lots of folks. The bad news is, I can't keep any of you straight yet! :D

Thanks to all of you who have welcomed me to the check-in. I passed along your sweet words to DH and he is gratified!

Hi guys! Well, I survived work last night, but I have been drinking coffee all morning and trying to psych myself up to do it all again. So far, they have me scheduled for 4 nights next week as well. :( If this keeps up, I guess I will probably have to chat with my mgr. about cutting it back. I normally work 45 hours a week at my normal job, so adding another 22 is killing me. Amazingly, I have been really good about keeping up with my workouts, so that proves if you make exercise a priority, you can usually find a way to squeeze it in. At this point, I think it is the only thing giving me any energy! DH thinks I should take it easy and not work out right now, but I know I feel sooo much better having gotten in my exercise (me-time) every day. ;) I know you girls know what I mean!

Jennifer - I know what you mean about morning workouts! I am good for nothing early in the morning. About the best I can do is to get on a machine that requires no thought. I really do my best exercising in the evenings. Hope everything goes well with your son! I'm 28 and already have arthritis in my shoulder and knees from years of high school sports and skating. I think it is getting more common now a days for younger people to have it - or at least to actually be diagnosed with it. Does your son have orthodics? My husband has extremely flat feet and he is in agony without his inserts.

Josie - Have fun with PUB! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some nice weather this weekend. I need SPRING!

Randi - Glad to hear you have some nice weather out there in Kansas City! Send it my way, k? :)

Phyllis - Yeah, bounce is never good! Especially at the gym. I just raided Kohl's a few days ago. Then I stopped in Wal-mart and decided to just glance at their workout section. I was shocked and I do mean shocked to find some really awesome sports bras there. They are a heavily line black spandex type material with the cute little v in the front and racer type back. It looks just like something Cathe would wear which totally shocked me having found it in Wal-mart. Anyways, it gave me so much support and looked like something from Oh My Bod, so I went back and bought another 2. I know I will probably never see them there again, so I figured I'd better stock up! When I went to workout that night, my DH took one look at me and said "hello, Cathe". lol... He's used to my "rags". Glad you had so much energy for your workouts today! Send some this way!

ShellyC - Glad you had a pain free run! Good luck with your 5K race this weekend and your interval run today! :)

Vicki - Can't even begin to imagine what those families are going through right now. I have been watching the coverage the last few days at the gym and it is just so sad. I'm so sorry for your loss as well. That something a parent should never have to go through. :(

Robin - The cooking class sounds fun. :) Hopefully, there will be lots of yummy recipes in that cook book. I think I am going to hold off on buying the "cute" workout outfits until early July too. I know I would want to wear them in the meantime (I'm not a patient person by any means) and they wouldn't be "new" for the trip. ;)

Hi Belinda! Have a great day too! :)

ivorygorgon - The spa vacation sounds heavenly! I could really go for one of those now. Congrats on being able to do all of the drop push-ups on your toes! Some day....

Michelle - I really need some new shoes as well. I have Nike's right now, but they are running shoes, and do not have a lot of side support. What kind of New Balance shoes did you end up getting? I've been looking at Ryka's online, but hate to buy something that I can't try on first.

Hey, Michelle.

I noticed that while everyone else's posts are indenting in, as if responding directly to the person above, yours lines right up with the original post. What are you doing differently?

It'll take me a while to figure out how all this works!

;-)

Mine did the same thing. I just responded directly to the first post. Not sure why we weren't just added in under the first post indented.

Hi, everyone!

I have not checked in for about 2 weeks or so. I went away for the Easter Holiday. When I got back, I had alot of catching up to do with work, unpacking, etc. Then, we got hit with a massive storm. The river behind us completly overflowed, and overtook the whole street. My daughter and I had to evacuate immediately on Sun. afternoon. If we did not leave when we did, I would have lost my car!!! We spent the night at a friends place, but could not get back in to our house. We had to stay in a hotel the next 2 nights. Luckily, we rent an apt. that is up one level, so most of our stuff is intact. Everything in storage is ruined, though. Compared to other people, we are very lucky. Some people lost everything. We are finally back home today. We have electricity, heat, etc. Some people are still without. Now the cleanup and mold prevention begins!!! I have not worked out for 3 days!!! And my eating, well, lets just not go there...... The holiday did me in, and now this!!! Its really hard to eat 5-6 clean, small meals a day normally!!! I was just too stressed out... :* Well, at least we are safe!! It really could have been alot worse!! I think that I will take today to get settled, and then go back(once again!!!)tommorow to the workouts and clean eating. I still have 16 weeks or so to whip my butt into shape for this roadtrip}( I hope everyone is well, Take care, Nancy J.~~~

Nancy - Sounds like you have been through a lot in the last few days! I'm glad your apartment is higher and nothing was ruined there, but am sorry about everything you had in storage! Thank goodness you got out in time with your car. I don't blame you in the least for not keeping up with the workouts! Good luck getting back into the swing of things. :)

Good morning ladies,

Had a good day yesterday (well except for Virginia Tech thing which bothered me all night). I received 4 Cathe DVDs that I had been thinking about buying. Drillmax, Kickmax, Imax 2/Cardio&Weights and Boot Camp/Muscle Endurance. I had some of these on VHS and then some that I taped from FitTV. So excited to have the real deal.

For today I did Mucle Endurance this morning and going to step at lunch.

Nutrition

1/2 cup of ff Cottage cheese with nuts, raisins, grapes
S. Kashi and apple
L Lean Cusine Cup Cake Steamed Veggie from cafe or salad
S Popcorn
D Salad with Gilled Tiplia, Wine

Oh did I mention I went to a french restaurant for dinner for work yesterday...that was not so good for the old diet but it was a DELICIOUS MEAL. I will work extra hard in step to make it up.

THANKS FOR INSPIRING ME TODAY
