Road Trip Check-in for Sunday, April 1, 2007

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Good morning, Road Trippers! Happy Palm Sunday to those who celebrate. Happy April Fool’s Day to everyone else. Can you believe that we will be working out together and enjoying our Sunday morning brunch 19 weeks from this morning? I am starting a new rotation this morning and decided to plan my workouts for 2 weeks at a time. Since recovery weeks do not work for me, I am returning to 5 days of Cathe workouts every week with a rest day and an active recovery day (a Kari Anderson or Christi Taylor hi-lo workout or some other form of gentle cardio plus a TLT) as well as running in the pool at the club a few nights a week. Mom and her husband are planning to spend Mother’s Day weekend with me. That gives me 40 days of super clean eating before they arrive so I can enjoy a few treats during my vacation with them. This is my general game plan for my Cathe Road Trip rotation:

Sunday morning - step or interval step (Cathe)
Monday morning - cardio plus lower body or lower body circuit (Cathe)
Tuesday morning - cardio plus upper body or upper body circuit (Cathe)
Wednesday morning - kickboxing (Cathe)
Thursday morning - total body circuit (Cathe)
Friday morning - rest
Saturday morning - hi-lo (Kari or Christi) plus functional fitness (Jen or Tracie)

It is time to flip your Cathe calendar again. I love the “Work, Work!” motto for this month. That is exactly what I need to do. March was not a good month for me. I finished my recovery week yesterday, and I am so ready to return to my beloved Cathe workouts this morning. My name is Heather. I am addicted to Cathe cardio. I have withdraws when I do not get my fix. Cathe can put me on permanent preorder.

By the way, I fasted chocolate and cheese for 40 days and did not drop a pound. I gained 4 pounds during my recovery week and gained an inch in my chest, an inch in my waist, an inch in my abdomen, and an inch in my hips. I enjoyed a few treats this past week, so my eating was not as clean as it has been. Feel free to give me a kick in the butt. It is not really necessary because I am good at falling on my butt and bouncing back again. The party is over. It is time to start training for the Cathe Road Trip. My weight and measurements have been recorded. A friend and I are getting together early this morning to take progress pictures before my morning workout.

This is the dawn of a new month. Spring has arrived, and bluebonnets are blanketing the beautiful Texas landscape. (I added a picture of bluebonnets to my avatar for everyone to enjoy!) I am ready to break free from this fat cocoon. Yes, it is time. Saddle up your horses and get ready for a great and glorious adventure. Come along if you dare! Let’s train hard this month! We are training for the Road Trip!

Blessings,
Heather B.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1 NIV).

Good Morning!!!

I have also just completed a recovery week. Mine was more of an outvote on my body's part!! I was planning on taking one this coming week but my brain was outvoted by the body!!! I am planning on getting back into it, though!!

I am not really planning on any special rotation to get ready for the RT. I am going to concentrate on keeping my nose to the grindstone and working towards my ultimate goal of losing 15 lbs this year!!!

Heather, thanks for reminding my to flip the calendar!!! March was a pretty decent month for me. I lost around 6-7 lbs, measurements are a quandry because I haven't measured yet and don't have any plans to until I'm off. I don't like to weigh or measure when I'm on my work rotation because working nights seems to through off the "balance" so to speak!

Have a gread day!!! Oh, Heather, thanks for the Palm Sunday reminder, as well!!:)

Howdy trippers. Another new month. Isn't it wonderful to turn the calender and start all fresh? I love looking at last month too, and all the little stickers and scribbles.

Heather, I think I pretty much stayed the same again last month. Overall, I probably lost about 15 pounds and gained 15 pounds. I'll probably get serious about clean eating about 15 minutes before it's time to leave for the road trip. I don't ever do planned recovery weeks. Mostly my recovery periods are during vacations. We are traveling to WA the end of May to visit my sister. I may take a couple DVD's, but if I don't workout, big deal. It's a vacation. A trip to the shore is planned in late July, and I'll probably have the same philosophy.

Amy, nice work on the weight loss last month. Are you still getting wine deliveries every other day or so? I'm looking forward to visiting some wineries on our trip to WA.

I wrote a nice long post yesterday, with personals to everyone. I was using the Back button to check what everyone had written, and got sidetracked checking ShellyC's profile. (Have you seen her biceps!) That caused me to lose my post. Maybe I'll be able to catch up later today.

I'm not sure what the workout schedule will be like this month. I may try Cathe's April rotation. That Bonus Cardio has me a little nervous. Today should be the last day of the Nov 06 rotation for me and calls for Drill Max. I'm not sure I'm up to it. I'll have to see how I feel once I get home from work.

Have great Sunday trippers.

Morning:

Yesterday was RS, and yes the music was just as bad as I thought. I could barely concentrate on the workout I was so annoyed by the dolphin woman singing. And that song is throughout about 1/2 of the workout! Yikes. What was Cathe thinking? :0) But to each his own. I know that.

Tonight is GS BSB and maybe a short CC on the bike. This will be my first foray into the GSs. I'm a little skeeeered.

Robin: Where in Washington are you going? I was born and raised in Bellingham and moved to SD only about 7 years ago. We really should get back for a visit, but oh, it is so cold, dark and dreary there. Except of course in parts of July and parts of August.

I too like the motto for this week. I flipped the calendar yesterday and said to DH "oh, Cathe always says that, I like it!"

Have a great day everyone!

Mornin all. Happy Palm Sunday and April Fools as well. Heather - I so cannot wait to meet you. You always inspire me and are so poignant. 19 weeks eh? Guess I'd better get moving!

I'm off to that "dysfunctional part of the family get-together." Told you all the only way I could cope is to imagine this one particular person as my opponent and get out my frustration with a good kickbox w/o. So this morning I did the KPC/L&G premix, added on the ankle weights portion of L&G and did a 30-minute HIIT walk on the TM - it's raining here pretty good or I'd have gone outside.

Gotta share - I MADE IT OVER THE $1,000 mark on my fundraising for the 60-mile walk! :) :) (I have to raise at least $2200 or pay the balance myself!) You can see my level going up if you click on my site link below! I am so pumped to have reached the 1,000 mark!

Good job fellow trippers on the weight loss (Amy you rock!). I'm hoping that I can join you in that report my the end of this calendar month! Gear it up eh?

Take care all - I'll check back when I return.

Lorrie

I'll be walking the Komen 3-day (60 miles) the week after Cathe's RT. Here's my webpage.

Hi, everyone!!

Robin!!!! The same exact thing happened to me last night!! I typed out a long post, used my back button, and just as you, got sidetracked by checking someone's profile. Well, I lost my post, too!!!Waaaahhhh!!! x( I had to leave the computer after that!!! I've got alot going on today, but I will try to post tonight, if I have time!! I hope everyone has a great day! Take care, Nancy~~~

Good morning everyone!
This morning I did Step Heat. It is a beautiful morning so I opened all the windows and my 3 kitties are loving it:) I also flipped my Cathe calendar and weighed and measured. My weight will not budge; but I did lose 1" on waist & hips, so I'm happy.

Heather-I love your bluebonnets! I know you won't let one bad month get you down; you have done so great overall.

Amy-Great job on the weight loss! If I lost 6-7 pounds in one month I would be ecstatic!

Robin-I can understand getting distracted by Shelly's biceps. She is buff. Also wanted to tell you SO's nephew gave us Buffett tickets for July. It will be my first time seeing him. Tickets are expensive and practically impossible to get so we're pretty excited!

Bekki-Hope you like the Gym Styles. I haven't gotten to those yet.

Lorrie-Great workout and congrats on the fund raising. That's awesome!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Kara

Kara!!!Wow, that must be some nephew! Where will you see Jimmy? Wave to him for me, OK? I've never been to a concert. (Yeah, I know, how can I call myself buffettgirl?) You're right, it's expensive and the tickets are hard to get. Almost as hard as a space on the Cathe Road Trip. LOL. I'm a little intimidated by the parrothead parking lot parties too. I'm just a good, clean living, old lady who loves Jimmy's music. You let me know all the details.

Lorrie, wonderful news about your fundraising. You'll be to 100% in no time. Have a great time at the fam damily thing.

Ivorygorgon (do I know your name?), I'll be in north central WA, a couple hours north of Spokane. My sister and her DH work for the forest service and live in the boonies. We are looking forward to hiking, although she said there would still be snow in the high country.

Nancy, LOL, I almost clicked on YOUR profile while posting this and thought, "Stop, you dummy!" I'm going to head out of here and go check it out right now!

Good morning roadtrippers. I'm about to head out the door for my 12 mile run... it's beautiful outside! Thought I'd check in here first.

Amy- Congrats on your 7 lb weight loss for March!:)

Robin- Your comment on my biceps made me laugh! Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the rest of this old bod:( My arms have always responded well to working out, but the hips and butt.....
fuggedaboutitx( Now go tackle that drillmax!!!

ivorygorgon- I had to laugh at the mention of the music on RS:D
Too funny! I rarely do this one also for pretty much that reason.
It is hard to endure, although the choreography is fun. Have a great time with GS BSB. They are a challenge but you'll be fine!
I think they are Cathe's masterpiece strength workouts

Lorrie- Sounds like you got in an awesome workout to prepare yourself for the dysfunctional family GTG. Hang in there!

Julia- I use an elliptical machine quite a bit and just love them.
If you visit the cheetah (runner's) check in you'll find them mentioned quite a bit. They really give you a great running like
workout without the impact. Great for preventing injuries.... to these old bones anyway! Have you gotten any good April fools jokes yet?

Jennifer- did you start the April rotation today?

Kara- You have my sympathy if you work in an animal hospital!!!
It must be chaos now. I love your yuk comment about the baby shower!! I'm the same way and I usually try to get out of them!

PaWendy- Thanks for your review of the RT area!!! Uhoh... dunkin donuts just down the street!!

Lara- Gonna take a break from the basketball to post today? Who's your favorite team?

Time to hit the road y'all.... I'll try to post later.

ShellyC

Hi Ladies,

Tonight is P90X Day 4. I think it's yoga. We're still at my inlaws. So, we'll do whatever day 4 calls for tonight. MIL made eggs, sausage and pancakes for breakfast. I skipped the pancakes and had 1 wheat toast, 1 sausage link and 1 egg over/easy with a glass of orange juice instead. :9 As have been my habit, I'll be on late tonight for personals if I have time. I really should wait to post personals first thing in the morning though.

Have a trick-free April Fool's Day!

PaWendy

Hey all,
This is a deja vu post for me...I lost my earlier one x(
We went to see "Meet the Robinsons" last night and we all loved it. I highly recommend it to you all. My 12 y.o. stepson, DH and I all found it hiolarious and I love the positive and hopeful message that is at its core. Definitely a great family movie.:)

Congrats to all who lost weight last month...keep up the great work!!! Today is my rest day and my muscles are very happy that I did a stretchmax segment.

I just saw and ASPCA commercial with Sarah McLaughlin and some very sad looking abused animals and totally lost it!!! I started crying within 15 seconds of the commercial. I can't believe I just had an emotional meltdown from the TV...but it was so sad!!! Those poor animals!!! I just want to go pet and hug my wonderful cats now :-(

Have a great day everyone!!!

Oh yeah we need to do this on the weekends also....

Sorry so Saturday is always a big exercise day for me. I usually do all three classes they offer so that would be Cardio Dance, Step and Body Sculpt. My hubby thinks it is a huge time suck but in my opinion its over the noon and on a Saturday I wouldn't have been that productive by noon anyway. Anyway, I am generally exhausted after it and just hang for the rest of the Saturday. This Saturday however I had to spend the rest of the day working in the yard. Which was great because I have been dying to get some flowers in.

My diet was another matter all together....don't throw me off the board but I had Backyard Burger jr. burger and fries for lunch and then had mexican for dinner. Although at dinner I did have exactly 12 chips and then had grilled shrimp with extra veggies and salsa for my meal. UGG the weekends are a killer.

Sunday, I went for a run/walk with hubby and then went to step class. Lots of planting in the yard has my back aching.

The diet today has been much better

egg whites, grapes, lite bacon
S: Sunflower Seeds
grilled tipliia, baked fries, salad
S: Cup Cake
fish stew for dinner

Thanks for inspiring me over the weekend ladies...you will be happy to know that my hubby wanted to get ice cream after the backyard burger but I told him that there was NO WAY I could type on the Cathe board...

KIM:)

KimNC - Did you end up calling the hotel? WOW! What an awesome workout on Saturday mornings. Doesn't it just feel great when you are done? Except for the fact that you ended up doing yard work and planting those flowers. In Michigan you can't even think of planting flowers until the middle of May. For we can get frost even in May!

This morning I did Nekea Brown's All Hot Amazing Step from the CIA workouts. It was a really good workout.

I went up to the hospital to see my niece's new baby boy. So, that was fun, for I do love baby's. Imagine that! Could that be why I had ten of them?

Beth - Does it seem like the step classes are dwindling or what? I absolutely LOVE step. I would be really sad if they stopped making step DVD's.

ShellyC - How was your bike ride with your husband? So, you are a RN? That is interesting. When I said I had limited movemnet in my hip, I didn't mean that I am restricted at all. I can do just about anything. I do not have the outward and inward movement of that hip. When you meet me I will let you see - I look somewhat crooked when doing certain types of moves. To look at me in my everyday life you would not even be able to tell.

Carole - Yes, this All Body Attack is an awesome workout. Go to Open Discussion there is a few other reviews of this one. It is similar to Drill Max

PAWendy - So, how old are your children? How many boys and how many girls do you have? How long have you been home schooling them?

Cheryl

Thanks for the UNDO button. I almost lost my email typed post when I highlighted and pasted instead of copied!

We didn't get home until around 8:00 PM. Had to tune dd's harp and unpack before DH and I could start YogaX. It was different. Some of the moves reminded me of Callenetics. Some of stretches were familiar ones. I just feel tired right now.

Heather: Thank you for gearing us up for another month. You are such a wonderful encouragement! You'll hear no nagging or shaking the finger from me. Depending on where I am in my cycle, my measurements and weight can fluctuate quite a bit. I've also noticed that when I am craving chocolate and there's none around, I'll eat more of whatever I do have around to try to kill that craving. It's just better if I have a handful of M&M's to curb the craving. Looks like you have a good plan to get you back on track. I can't wait to finish P90X and get back to Cathe. I'll only have a little over a month before the roadtrip to learn some more of her step moves. Yikes, you might not want to step near me. I'll be falling all over the place!

Amy: Best wishes with losing those 15 pounds. It seems like the closer to my goal weight I get, the harder it is to lose. Great job with the weight you've already lost in one month! You probably have to buy all new clothes! How fun!!

Robin: You are so funny! I'm a big time procrastinator when it comes to getting serious with my eating and exercising! We'll take you as you already are! What part of the shore will you be visiting? My family used to spend a week in Sea Isle City before my inlaws bought a house near Long Island.

Bekki: How was your first go with GS? I'm thinking of ordering the series for when I'm finished with P90X.

Lorrie: Congrats with the fundraising! I'll have to check out your site. I've never thought about imagining anyone while doing KPC. I wonder if it would make me work harder though! Your workout today sounds so fun! I miss my HIIT walks on the treadmill.

Kara: Congrats on the inch lost, especially on the hips and waist!

ShellyC: How was your 12 mile run? How long does that take you to complete? I tip my hat to you. I'm happy if I can walk/jog 2.5 miles on the treadmill. A thought just occurred to me. If Jennifer ends up driving me to Deptford, I won't have a vehicle at my disposal to get my Dunkin Doughnuts coffee. Maybe, you can run down the street and get coffee for us. LOL I would offer, but I doubt I'd make it back in time before the shuttle bus carts us off to the gym. Well, it's just a thought. Can't blame me for thinking ahead! ;-)

Hey Jenn, I'll need more than luck the next time I do YogaX. Why did you not warn me? Okay, you might have. But, next time you'll need to shout it out and get my undivided attention so I can fully understand what the heck I'm getting myself into! ;-) BTW, love today's menu.

Josie: Thanks for the movie review. I'll have to keep it in mind the next time the kids want to go to the movies.

Wow Kim, if I did three classes and worked in the garden, I'd be eating a lot more than what you did! I think you deserved it.

Belinda: I hope you enjoyed your rest day!

Cheryl: I love babies too! I love toddlers, preschoolers, elementary and some teenagers. LOL Things get kinda of iffy once their hormones kick in. I have 3 boys followed by their 3 younger sisters. No, I'm not Carol Brady. I birthed them ALL. ;-) Unlike you, I had the boys with my ex-husband. I remarried and had my girls. Their ages are 18, 15, 13, 9, and 8 year old identical twins. I started homeschooling my oldest dd for kindergarten because her birthday fell 10 days after the Christian school's cut off date. I was going to use the same curriculum and then put her in first grade at the same school the following year. By the end of the year, my dh wanted me to homeschool her until college. LOL My ex doesn't want our two youngest to be homeschooled. Both of his sisters are homeschool hating public school teachers. Our youngest boy goes to a private school and my middle son is doing well in highschool. He's about to get his pilot's license through the Civil Air Patrol's Search and Rescue Unit. He's so driven and focused. He'll have his pilot's license before he gets his driver's license. LOL My ex agreed for the oldest because ds was having a difficult time focusing his attention on schoolwork and was getting into a lot of trouble. I homeschooled him for his junior and senior high school years. He got his GED to get state grants because we didn't go through any approved diploma program. Homeschooling him wasn't a pretty sight! A sanctifying one, but not a very peaceful one. But, we made it through. And, I've always taught my twins. How are your younger ones doing in school? Did they have a difficult time adjusting to anything? I think my girls would have a difficult time having to get up early enough to catch the school bus and having to ride it too! LOL My oldest dd thinks school is a big playdate. I thought about having her spend the day at the elementary school so she could get a better understanding of how their day goes. She would be so bored since she likes to do a week's worth of math in one sitting and get it over with. Does any of your children ask to be homeschooled again? Aren't you homeschooling some of your older ones? I find the older dd gets, the more independent she becomes with her schoolwork.

Well, I should have saved my post for tomorrow's check-in! Have a great evening or day (depending on when y'all read this). :)

Hello.

I meant to have more time for personals this weekend. Hopefully I can catch up soon. Today was supposed to be a rest day (in my rotation) but I ended up doing LIC timesaver cardio. I have been eating too much not to do some type of workout today. One of my freinds invited me to a last minute cook-out. I can't even explain how good the dessert was!! I will be working out extra hard tomorrow for sure!!

ShellyC...my favorite team is, of course, the Razorbacks (since I am from Arkansas), but we made a very poor showing in the tournament (which isn't that unusual for us). I have Florida winning it all again this year (sorry to anyone from Ohio). I respect Florida's coach (and I have to cheer for someone in the SEC)!! I guess I will find out tomorrow. I hope your 12 mile run went well. I really envy you :)

It is time for bed now--I dread getting up on Monday mornings!:)
