Hey girlfriend, I spilled the beans on us -- check out the P90X thread. :) I felt that it was only right for me to admit my P90X purchase publicly, but I also felt (card-carrying weenie that I am) that I had to have a co-conspirator to share the, uh, credit with me. And gee, since you really ARE my co-purchaser, you were so handy! Hope ya still love me, GF! ;-)

Notice, however, Deb, that I DID explain about our plan to swap the DVD's around with each other so that we could integrate Cathe into our own new P90XtremeCathe Rotation (if I could figure out how to insert the little "trademark" symbol after that, I would. ;-) Isn't that just the cutest blended title?).

Detractors -- go away, I say. Debbie and I remain committed charter members of the Cathe Fan Club (well, not "committed" yet -- devoted, you betcha, and perhaps someday committed if we keep buying fitness stuff.) We are not straying or cheating on our Cathe at all, as we see it; we are just broadening our horizons, as our wee leader would no doubt encourage us to do. :7 (And I certainly hope that "horizons" is ALL that will be broadening on and around me from now on -- my eating is so clean now it's squeaky!!!:+)

Please, please share your rotation with us. I have been having the same feelings like I am betraying Cathe, because this is the first time I will be doing anything different in 4 years!! I caved and ordered yesterday. No matter how I structure any workouts lately, I cannot seem to lose this 5-8 pounds that I gained over the winter. I have been cleaner with eating and varying intensity (interval runs, IMAX2, spinning), and nothing will budge. I don't weigh myself, but my pants are definitely tighter in the hip area. I can't wear any of my capri pants from last summer!! So, I am going to try the P90X to see if it will make any difference. I would love to see how others are structuring combos with Cathe still, because I know that I won't be able to go without her....

Stop with the guilt already :) To put you in good company, I forward the P90X email to seven people from this Forum since yesterday.

I think the P90X system is a wonder complement to Cathe. Many of her workouts are high rep, endurance workouts while his is low rep, heavy weight. As well, the cardio is different but I think everyone will enjoy it. I know that I usually manage to do at least one Cathe cardio workout a week. It is a must!

So stop worrying KathyS.
 
OMG - I'm coming out of the closet too - I got P90X a couple of weeks ago and I REALLY like these workouts. I was just thinking yesterday how I would really like a rotation that incorporates P90X and Cathe. To me, that sounds like the ULTIMATE kick a$$ rotation. If someone has come up with this kind of rotation...spill it!!
 
I am following my own hybrid P90x rotation. I have been substituting Kick Punch & Crunch for Kenpo. Here's what my rotation looks like now (I'm in my 2nd month.)

1. Core Synergistics & pull ups
2. Plyometrics
3. Shoulders/Chest & Tris & pullups & Ab Ripper
4. Yoga X
5. Legs & Back (or Pyramid Lower Body & P90x Back)
6. Kenpo (or usually Kick Punch & Crunch) & Ab Ripper

I've added two more sessions of pull ups because this is an area I really want to improve, and once a week isn't going to cut it! I also switched the 2nd Ab Ripper to after Kenpo or KP & C because my legs are too tired after a leg workout.

I really hope that Cathe makes a workout similar to Core Synergistics - it is just such a great concept! My whole trunk feels so much harder & stronger. I have noticed that when I do the stability ball training after KP & C, my pikes are SO much stronger & higher!

I hope that this gives you some ideas.

Do you find that this rotation includes enough cardio in light of your goals? I am thinking that I may need a little more cardio for weight loss. Again, everyone is different. If I were to do more cardio, it would probably be mostly walking and/or a short run/walk. I have been trying to go on bike rides with my daughter also, but they are more leisurely.

Hi Sandra!

This rotation is slightly less cardio than I am used to. However, I have always found that weight loss is more effected by diet. From what I understand, latest studies show that you burn approximately the same number of calories weight training as with cardio. Also, by adding muscle, you will increase your metabolism and that will burn calories all the time.

Seriously, I'm not feeling guilty -- just having a little fun with you guys and my pal Debbie, who is such a sweetie that I think she really did have more pangs than me. I really believe Cathe would support the miniature P90X movement around here -- it does appear to be the perfect complement to her workouts (and IMHO nothing else out there is), and she's all about cross-training.

So how many of your seven recruits did you bring in? Beachbody should pay you a finder's fee. :)

I never heard my phone ringing yesterday!!! Okay, I'll admit, I had a moment of weakness too now that you have "spilled" the beans! Can't wait to try P90X-tremeCathe Rotation. There is no way I can live without my Cathe's. I am mainly doing UB work right now so adding in some new things will be good for me now. (I can't wait to get Cathe's new tapes with the tubing!) I read about the Power Tower on the other thread and now, thanks to all of YOU...I WANT IT TOO! I don't have ANY room in my workout room. I am LITERALLY starting to run out of workout space. Hey Kath, if you can share how you are getting your eating habits squeaky clean, it would be so appreciated. I am working hard in that area due to sooo lil' LB work. BTW, KathyS MADE me do it!!!!! ;-) But, I am excited to blend these new tapes in to what I do now.

As for my squeaky clean eating, I must confess that after declaring myself Miss Clean Diet, I've actually behaved more like Miss Junk Food the past couple of days. For example, last night at 10:00 I had chocolate ice cream. It's been MONTHS since ice cream interested me, and as yet I haven't got a clue why it suddenly did. (It's the week before TTOTM, yes, but come on, Kathy, let's have a little discipline here! x( x()

I feel better, actually, having admitted this to my Cathe Support Group. See how useful you all are? I'm going to go do RS and CTX UB Split and clean out my snack pantry. My kids will have to live without the Tostitos for a few days while Mom rids the house of all enabling foods. ;-)

Hey Debbie, I bet you cave and buy the Power Tower before I do -- my exercise room is up a steep staircase and I don't think I could even get the darned thing into the room! (That's my story and I'm making myself stick to it! ;-))

I did a search, but couldn't find anything on Power Tower. What is it?

I keep meaning to send you a note too. Hopefully one of us will get it done here soon! I have lots to say:)

I have my eye on a piece of equipment that will do the power tower stuff, but also is kind of like a cage for lifting heavy safely, and has the pulldown attachment. Actually I've had my eye on it for a year!

I have a pull up bar in my doorway and practiced for a looooong time. I just finally gave up for a while. I'm sure I'll get back at it, but not sure if I'll ever be able to do a full pull up.

Hello,

I just discovered this forum and have noticed all of the postings for P90X, is this the same as the P90 workout, or is this a later version? I noticed Ebay has a lot of the P90 workouts for sale but I haven't found any P90x. I have been doing the Cathe tapes and love them. I want to shape up my upper body for my wedding in September so these tapes sounded like they just might help.

What does Power90X do that Cathe doesn't?

Do you really shape up like that in 90 days with the videos or are the nutritional recommendations more important?

How much weight is everyone using for, let's say, shoulders and triceps?

I am on the fence and like to hear more opinions.

Me too, Out of the closet here . :+ I was wondering if it would be okay to do the cardio from CTX with the weight workouts of P90X on the days that you don't do Cardio X, Kenpo or the Plyo one. Would this work or would it be to much? I am one that adds cardio to almost every workout.

I would love to see the rotations that anyone is doing with this!

Oh, and by the way....I will never give up my Cathe workouts!!! Her workouts are still the "backbone" of my fitness routine!!
