"Rest Week" question for Cathe

Hi Cathe!

Could you please explain the benefits of a "Rest Week" and what exercises should/should not be done during that time?

Thank you very much for your time!

:)

RE:

Hi Amydaisy! A rest week is where you take a week off of your normal fitness activities and just let the body have down time. This helps the body recover and rejuvenate so that you can continue to gain optimal benefits from your overall fitness program. For those people who find it hard to take off entirely, I encourage short duration, low intensity workouts or workouts that are more recreational during this time. Stretching, stroll through park's nature trails, bowling, scenic biking, scenic hiking, etc.

Take care!

Good question.

I heard about "Rest Week" by reading the forums. I know that it is an important time for muscles to rest so that you become stronger after taking the time off! This would be especially good for someone who is looking to build muscle mass and strength.
I am not sure how many times a year you should do this. I guess it would be up to the person!
