Rest week in between cycles

Worknprogress

Cathlete
I am getting ready to start STS on Tuesday the 22nd. I should be done with my 1 RM's by Thursday at the latest.

Did everybody stick to the one rest week in between meso cycles? If yes, what workouts did you do that you felt fit in well with STS?

Or, did any of you not take the the week off but just a few days of complete rest?

Hi Debbie,

I'm on my second round of STS. The first time around and this round I have taken my full active recovery week between mesos. I did some cardio, abs, and some light weights during the recovery. I think the recovery week really helped to get me phsyched up for the upcoming meso cycle. If you work to your full potential while doing STS then I think you'll welcome the week off.

Enjoy STS!

I definitely took the rest week, with yoga on a few days and then several days off. And those days off felt great! I am in my rest week now, and my body needs it. By the time I got to the end of a meso (especially now that I am doing a 6-month rotation), I was/am exhausted. So the days off are welcome. When I feel energetic, I take long walks in the hills.

Debbie~
I took 5 days between each Meso- I gladly would have taken the 7 had I not wanted to be done before a long holiday.

I found that by week 4 my body was REALLY needing the recovery time... Week 3 I was fine & thinking- gosh do I really need it? - By mid week 4 I was ready in all 3 Meso's. ;)I think if you are truly lifting to your max capacity for all 3 meso's then you need it mentally & physically.

During my 5 day recovery I did 1 hard Cathe cardio & just stretching the rest of the time but that was just becasue my body was truly out of gas. My next round will be using STS & Shock Cardio so I think I'll STILL feel this way! LOL

I guess my next question then is:

I set my STS Rotation to start on Tuesday, September 22nd. So after the first cycle - the last disc being on Saturday, the calendar shows my next cycle to begin on a Tuesday, therefore making the rest period a total of 9 days.

So I am to assume that the rest week is supposed to only be 7 days?

Mine have always been more like 8 days, because I end on a rest day. You need to do what works in your daily schedule, so if that means ending on a Saturday and starting on a Tuesday, so be it. Personally, I wouldn't worry about an extra day or two of rest, but if you want, you could always do a circuit workout in there or a really hard cardio.
