Request/suggestion for next road trip

It would be nice if for the next Road Trip, those of us who tried to sign up on the first day (or at least the first few hours of the first day) but didn't make the cut-off, got a chance to reserve a spot before general registration started.

An email to the first 105 on that list (or however many spots there will be available) or however many missed the cut-off on the first day, whichever is fewer, a couple of days before general reg, with an invitation to sign up (within a limited period--two days, for example) would be one way of doing this.

Just a thought.;)

Great idea! I was number 118 and would love to have a shot for next time.
I have broadband so I was able to sign up fairly quickly (though obviously not quickly enough!). But it occurred to me that maybe a lottery wouldn't be a bad idea, so that people who have dial-up or slower computers can have a ghost of a chance! It would at least level the playing field a bit.:7 :7

I like the lottery idea. If everyone who wanted to go had a few days to enter into a lottery it would be nice. That way I wouldn't have to take time off work in order to try and sign up because I do not have internet connection at work. We really don't need it there; even though I know I'm in the minority. Then, when the lottery was drawn, all those with the lucky numbers would have the first crack at going.

I have to use the lottery system when purchasing party room tickets for the St. Louis Cardinals games. You actually call in and leave your name/phone number/account number and they call you back in the order you left your message and they go from there... and then (just to make it more complex w/the new stadium) you have to pick a 5-day series during which you would be willing to attend a game and what suite you'd prefer and then you receive a notice of what you 'won'. Kind of complex and sometimes highly annoying if you're hoping for a Saturday game and land a Wednesday game, but a lottery style reservation system would be a nice idea... OR maybe a once-a-year road trip vs. once every couple of years ... OR everyone signs up and the registration is randomly selected by the computer (from those who registered during an open window) and those folks are given 2-3 days to pay - and then go to the next round to fill in those who 'won' but decided not to go.

I don't know. I am just glad someone got to go. I like seeing the pictures and imagining the atmosphere!

Lookin' forward to this series - and the next!!! SLOW & HEAVY!!! BOXING!!! WHATEVER DVD'S CATHE PRODUCES, I'M THERE!!!

We were talking about this at the RT this weekend. As someone who was able to attend RT 2005 AND 2007, I think a lottery is definitely a very fair option. Good idea.

Yeah, how about more than one road trip a year or how about a week long seminar with a couple of classes a day and health and fitness lectures? It just seems like too much to cram into one weekend. Or having friday as a full day. I'd really like to go to as many Cathe classes as possible, but 3 in one day is a bit much.
Thanks
Eva

Wow!

I figured it was hard to get a spot for the RT.

Hopefully when it comes up again - it won't be too hard! :)

A few quotes from me :):
"Life is short so be the best you can be every single day of your life!"
"My game face is on almost every morning at 5AM!"

The lottery idea seems the best way to do this without seeming partial. I vote for that option.:)

Also, I think Cathe should take a tour and come visit big cities and have a fitness expo!!! You could get corporate sponsors. Boston has a big expo building. Why not come to us, just like the rock bands?

I suggested a lottery before and I still think it is a GREAT idea.

A lottery would give those that work or who have limited computor access more of an opportunity to compete for the limited number of RT slots. In my case, I can't stop CPR or other life support measures to register for the Cathe RT, so this option would be more accessible for me and I think others would benefit as well.

Just a suggesstion,

A Cathe Cruise, What a wonderful idea.
Sign me up for that too.
Where do the road trips take place? Maybe a Giant room for more people or different groups of people on Saturday and Sunday so more people can attend. And time for everyone to talk to Cathe.
:9 ;)

I like the lottery idea.

I also think it would be good to limit the next RT to non-repeats and give those who tried to register for this past one first dibs.

Then go with the lottery after that.

I dont think this is the way to go nor do I agree with the lottery idea. I think it should be the way it is now except for if you went this year you should be excluded from attending next year. Space is way too limited and to many people want to go, so the same people shouldnt go over and over again. I do want to add that If people keep causing a fuss over this they will probably cancel the road trips all together and I wouldnt blame them.

Wouldn't it simpler just to exclude the people who have been on road trips for the past 2-3 years? If the people who have been on previous road trips got through again next year then send them a message to say that their place will be given to someone who has not attended.

You could also put a rule on repeat applications by imposing a limit on how many times a person can apply, for example, a person who attended this year cannot sign up again for the next 2 or 3 years.

You could organise two or more road trips a year, summer and winter road trips.

Either or ALL of these will give a fair chance to everyone.

Seriously...I think that this is a splendid idea! :7 :7

I'd rather see the RT set up in a way that there are enough spots to accommodate the demand, i.e. multiple RTs, bigger trip in a bigger venue.

The idea of a lottery or someone deciding who should/shouldn't go based on previous attendance feels a bit exclusive to me.
