recommendations for kickbox videos

I am loving Cathe's kickboxing tapes sooo much that I want to try to find some more. Are there any others that have the same "feel" as Cathe's? I need suggestions that I can add to my Christmas List!

Thanks!
Michele

I love Cathe's kickbox videos as well. Some others that I like that you might like as well are Janis Saffell's CIA 9809 - Kickbox Express and CIA 9907 - Kick it!, Sherri Jacquelyn's CIA 2K03 Kickbox Jam. All three have drill sections, choreography sections and toning sections. 9809 also has a jumprope section. With all of them it is easy to do the sections alone or together. If you like Cathe's kickbox workouts you will probably like the drills & choreography sections of these workouts.

Thanks, Loretta!

Thanks for the recommendations. I plan on making a purchase soon! :)

BTW, do you know if Collage carries any of these tapes?

Thanks again!

Hi Loretta,

I too love Cathe's kickboxing tapes and would like to purchase another similar in style. Of the videos you recommend, do you prefer any one over the others?

Thanks, Steph

LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-00 AT 02:48PM (Est)[p]I really like CIA 9907 - Kick it! It's got a 8 minute warmup, then 30 minutes of kickbox drills, 36 minutes of kickbox choreography, 30 minutes of what they call sculpting work (some standing, some floor), then 6 minutes for a tai chi cooldown. The standing part of the sculpting section can keep my heart rate elevated, especially after doing the other sections. She does a lot of standing kicks & balance work. The video is really easy to split up if you don't want to do the whole thing.

I just got CIA 9809 and 2K03 recently so I've only done each one a couple of times. In Kickbox Jam they do a similar sequence of sections (warm-up, drills, choreography, sculpting, cool down) I like the combos and it will probably become one of my favorites. The sculpting section is done with tubing but I used dumbells and they worked just fine. I can't remeber the exact sequence of 9809 but it has some jumprope sequences. Both times I did it I skipped (no pun intended) the jumprope sections because my heart rate was going down & I figured I could spare my feet the pounding. The sculpting section is very up tempo so it kept my heart rate up. I also did the drill section with 1 pound handweights and that really increased the intensity.

Another tape that you might want to try is CIA 9902 - Kick butt combat. Keli Roberts is a kick! and her form pointers are great. I really like the sculpting section in this one.

Good luck finding more tapes that you like.

I know no one thinks of Kathy Smith as being for advanced exercisers, but I think both her Kickbox video (which is also on DVD now with 2 levels) and her Aerobox videos are really tough and fun. Both are taught by other people for the most part, a professional boxer and kickboxer and they're both really cool. But the Kickbox tape is on par with Kickbox from Crosstrain Xpress in terms of intensity; lots of kicking and punching drills and you really get tough cardio work. And Aerobox is a trip, too. That's heavier on upper body, more punching and jump-rope segments (which of course you can do without the rope.)

So, just keep those in mind too.
