RE: Road Trip Check-in!!! 3-25

Cathlete
Ok, I took the plunge and started the check-in.

I don't post much here, but I really need to meet some of the folks I will be road tripping with, so, here I am!

I am 41 and have been doing Cathe for about 2 years. I lost about 85 pounds on WW beginning in November of 2003. I am not at "goal" (whatever that is,) but I am still plugging away. I figure if every year I am smaller than the year before, I am successful.

I am very shy and I was hesitant about going on the road trip, but I really want to work out with Cathe and see "the Crew" in person!

Yeserday, I did HSTA - all 90 of the leg presses :( , and today is a CC at the gym. I think I will do #5, but we will see when I get there.

Oh, and I am from just east of San Diego!

Have a great day everyone.

Road Trip Check-in!!!

Road Trippers:

Good morning! :) I am looking forward to getting to know everyone between now and August and finally meeting y’all in person. I am Heather from Central Texas. :7

I started 2007 with 3 fitness dreams for the year: to shed 100 pounds, to attend my first Cathe Road Trip, and to start running. The first two are already happening. It is time to get moving with the third one. I bought some Ryka water running shoes so I can start running in the pool at the club to protect my joints until I get closer to my goal weight. I am 50 pounds below my top weight but still 80 pounds above my goal weight. (I have dropped 20 of those pounds so far in 2007.)

I just finished my first 12-week Cathe rotation for 2007. Actually, it was the first time I endured 12 weeks of all-Cathe workouts without a break. I think 6-8 weeks was my limit last year. I am planning to enjoy an active recovery week this week. I may take a rest week the first week in April then start a new 12-week Cathe rotation on Easter. My body needs cardio, cardio, and more cardio to shed fat. Circuit training is very effective for me too. I am pondering the possibility of doing my Cathe workouts in the morning and going to the club after work to run in the pool.

I am a member of several check-ins here. I just joined the Cheetahs this morning too. It looks like my game plan is to join so many check-ins that I do not have time to eat junk. ;-) LOL! :7

Let the countdown to the Road Trip begin! I am excited! :7

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Road Trip Check-in!!!

Hello to all fellow roadtrippers! My name is Kara and I am from Northern Kentucky (near Cincinnati). I will be 40  in June and the roadtrip is a present to myself. I discovered Cathe about 6 months ago and quickly became obsessed. I am doing Fitness Freaks' Intermediate rotations for one more month before I tackle an advanced one. I did Step Heat this am and an hour of yoga.

This check in is perfect for me to get to know you all and conquer my fear of posting. I will be alone at the roadtrip. My SO is dropping me off and going on to NY to watch the Mets for the weekend. It's about a 10 hour drive.

Thanks for starting this check-in and I can't wait to meet you all:D

Kara

RE: Road Trip Check-in!!!

Hi everyone! I am glad someone started this check-in. I have been hestitant about joining the other ones because everyone seems to know each other so well. My name is Beth and I am from western NY. I will be 34 in June. I have been using Cathe workouts for about 5 years now, but I am relatively new to the forum as I was always leery of the internet.
I am thrilled to get a chance to meet Cathe. She inspired me to get my AFAA certification to teach aerobics. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you before the road trip.
I am trying to decide what rotation to do to start getting ready for the trip. I did run 5 miles today on the treadmill and plan on doing some yoga later.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day!

Beth :)

RE: Road Trip Check-in!!!

I'm from NJ, only about 40 mins from Cathe. I'm excited about meeting everyone! I have chatted with a few folk that are going-Hey Heather! When is everyone planning on arriving? Any plans for free time on Fri or after brunch Sun?

RE: Road Trip Check-in!!!

Hi fellow RTers. I've never really done these check-ins, but would love to do so (consistently). I'm Lorrie in Chagrin Falls, Ohio - near Cleveland. 43 years old - I'll be 44 at RT time. Stay at home mom to 3 kids, ages 8,5 and 3 with a vengence - lawyer on hiatus. LOVE Cathe - discovered her from a friend in December '04. Once you find Cathe there's no turning back. Still need to drop about 10 pounds, but I struggle with a really negative body image so we'll see where that goes. With the Cathe RT and my 60-mile walk after (link below) I am calling August my "suicide by fitness" month. Can't wait to meet everyone.
:)

Lorrie

I'll be walking the Komen 3-day (60 miles) the week after Cathe's RT. Here's my webpage.

RE: Road Trip Check-in!!!

Good morning fellow roadtrippers! Great idea to start this check in! It always makes it easier to go to a meeting with alot of people when you've already established a rapport. My name is Shelly
(not Shelley, allwildgirl) Although she is so funny and witty I wish I was her! Anyway, I check in regularly with the cheetahs (A fantastic group of ladies) but have rarely posted elsewhere. I'm quite shy (like ivorygorgon) I'm an RN and I live in Northern Arizona(Prescott) I've been working out with Cathe since 1997 and lurked on the forums for quite a while before I got up the nerve to post. I love to run and race and work out with Cathe (obviously) And today is my 50th birthday!

ivorygorgon- So, shy girl, what is your name? It would be nice to greet you with it when we meet at the RT!! ;-) Do you like to run also? I'm guessing you do since you work out with the CCs.

Heather- Hello again! I already chatted with you on the Cheetah check in! I guess you're going for the title of Checkin Queen!

Kara- Silly.... you're not going to be alone!!! I'm going to be looking for ya so don't be hiding on me! You live in a beautiful part of the country! I used to live in Louisville. Glad to meet ya!

Later y'all.

ShellyC

RE: Road Trip Check-in!!!

Hello again.... isn't it August yet?

Beth- How wonderful that cathe inspired you to become an aerobics instructor? How often to you do that? You shouldn't feel awkward about joining the check-ins. I can tell you that at least on the cheetah checkin and probably all the others we are always thrilled when new people join in!!

Phyllis. I won't be arriving until about 3:30 pm since I'm flying in from Az and lose 3 hours in the process. But I figure that should give me enough time(barely) to shuttle in from the hotel and join the rockin meet up party! As far as plans for free time, I know the cheetahs are going to go for a group run at some point! And I'm sure all will be welcome!

Lorrie- You're 3 day walk is AWESOME!!!! "Suicide by fitness?"
Too cute! But you have a lot of time to get toughened up before then }(

ShellyC

Howdy Road-Trippers,

I'm Carol, 29yo SAHM/homeschooling mom of 3 kiddos (ages 8, 6 and 3). I've been doing Cathe now for about a year (started with The Firm) and once I got going, I never looked back (lol!) My real fitness goals are just continuing to stretch myself and do challenging workouts. My weight has never really been an issue, but like everyone else in the known universe, I'd like more muscle definition and less fat... I just finished up a P90X-based rotation (I used Cathe's S&H and GS series heavily) and started FitnessFreak's Total Body-Endurance (Aug '06) rotation today with Muscle Endurance :) It was a nice change of pace and I was able to heavy up nicely on the UB stuff from all that heavy weight work! I look forward to getting to know you all before August!!

Carol

RE: Road Trip Check-in!!!

ShellyC: I'm Bekki! Yikes, I NEVER give my name on the boards!

Phyllis: I am arriving on Thursday and I haven't booked my return flight yet, but hopefully late on Sunday. I am really hoping to get in some sight seeing and I would love to see the Liberty Bell. I work with a lady fron NJ and she says I absolutely can't go there without getting a cheesesteak. I have, however, looked them up online and they look just nasty, but - when in Rome!!! So I may have to try one.

RE: Road Trip Check-in!!!

Happy Birthday ShellyC!!! I'll be 50 this year too!

I'm Kim, live in Ga. Began my fitness journey at the age of 18 and discovered videos in 1990. I fell in love with step the first time I took a class at the gym I belonged to.

I remember seeing my first Cathe video in Walmart about 15yrs ago. It was $20 and I didn't buy it cause I'd never heard of Cathe and the only other experience I'd had with step videos was that step joke of a thing Jane Fonda put out. Boy, just think, if I'd have just taken a chance, I'd a been in step heaven.

Oh well, live and learn :)

Anyway, I'm toooo excited to be going on the RT. As much to meet some of my online buds, :waves at Heather: and other Catheites as to meet Cathe, Cedie and crew.

I have about 4 1/2months to get back in shape for this trip and to reach my goal to be my best on my half century mark!!!

I'm so excited to meet all of you! My name is Wendy. I normally don't post my name here because there's already a Wendy on the forums. I live near Fitness Mom (Jennifer) in PA. I wouldn't go on the RT without her! Her birthday will fall during the RT weekend and I'll turn 38 a week later. I discovered stepping and Cathe on a whim Jan 2, 2007. To everyone's surprise (and mine), I've been working out ever since.

As you can see by the number of my posts compared to my join date, I'm not shy. But I absolutely adore and admire shy people; mainly my dh! ;-) I can't wait to get to know everyone here better!!

ivorygorgon: Congratulations on losing all that weight! Thanks for starting this check-in! Did I read correctly? Is your name Bekki?

Heather B.: I can't wait to meet you! Your posts are always so sweet and encouraging. You're so beautiful to me.

Kara: I was thinking of doing the intermediate rotation, but didn't want to get some of the dvds for it. I'm just pushing myself a little more with each Cathe workout I own for now. Now you can keep us posted on your progress.

Beth: Wow! 5 miles on the treadmill. How long does that take you. Right now, I can walk/jog over 2.5 miles in 40 minutes. That includes 10 minutes of slow walking for the warm-up and cool-down.

Phyllis: Where in NJ are you? My dh grew up in Atco. His parent's moved last year to the shore. His brother lives about 15 minutes away from Cathe's gym. I'm not sure when Jennifer and I will arrive in NJ for the RT. Our hotel check-in is at 3:00 on Friday.

Lorrie: If you don't lose those last 10 pounds by August, you'll probably lose it during your Suicide by Fitness month. LOL

Shelly: HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY!!!! I wish I could insert a movable cheerleader graphic with a Happy Birthday banner. Let's pretend I did. You can see it, right? LOL Getting ready for the RT is a fantastic way to bring in another year.

Kim: That's funny about the $20 Walmart step with Cathe dvd. I'm so glad I never heard of such nonsense since that's where I found Cathe.

Carol: Hi, I'm homeschooling 3 of my 6 children. How did the faux P90x rotation using Cathe work for you? I was thinking about starting a P90X rotation with dh when it arrives. I ordered it last week for him. Hopefully, it will come in this week. He's chomping at the bit to start it.

Hello everyone,

My name is Tracy. I don't normally post, i just lurk... Here is a little about me.

I am 33 and have been a Cathe fan for about 10 years. I live in florida originally for Pittsburgh. i moved here almost 3 years ago after I got married. I just had a baby 3 weeks ago. I had a C-section so i am still limited on my workouts.. I am allowed to walk and lift light weights..My doctor said i am healing very well so I should be able to workout full strength at 6 weeks. I gained a lot of weight with my pregnancy so I have a lot of work to do.. but the roadtrip is exactly to motivation I need! I really look forward to meeting everyone..

Tracy :)

"Kim: That's funny about the $20 Walmart step with Cathe dvd. I'm so glad I never heard of such nonsense since that's where I found Cathe."

This wasn't a dvd...it was one of Cathe's first workout vhs, like 15 yrs. ago. It didn't come with anything, just the video. That was the only time I ever saw Cathe at Walmart until the FitTv thing.

Wow, just imagine if you would have started Cathe back then! You'd probably be one of the crew by now. LOL I'm glad you finally discovered her and are going on the RT. :)

Road Trip Check-in!!!

Kara, what a great birthday present. My birthday is 2 weekends after the Road Trip, so it is an early present for me. I look forward to getting to know you between now and then and meeting you in August.

Beth, you are more than welcome to join any check-in. Just start posting. You will know everyone soon. But stick with us until the Road Trip!

Phyllis and Bekki, I am planning to arrive after lunch on Thursday and fly out Sunday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. I have never been to Philadelphia, so I would love to see the Liberty Bell and do the tourist thing. If either or both of you want to hang out together Friday, let me know.

Lorrie, are you arriving on Thursday or early Friday? You can join us too if you are interested.

Shelly, happy 50th birthday! Yes, I am going for the title of check-in queen! ;-) I have a sanguine personality and want to know everyone in the place! :7

Bekki, can I order a Philly cheese steak without the steak and onions? LOL! The cheese part sounds great, but I am afraid the rest of it would make me sick!

Kim, hugs to my other roomie!

Carol, you are one busy mom! I look forward to meeting you.

Wendy, thank you for your kind words. :) I look forward to meeting you too.

Tracy, it is time to start posting up a storm!

I hope I responded to everyone. I will do my best to keep up with personals, but I am up to my butt in check-ins these days! :7

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Road Trip Check-in!!!

Hi everyone!

My name is Tracy (waves to the other Tracy!) and I am 27 years old. I live in New Castle, Delaware and I am a full time working mom, currently finishing up my Master's degree in Management (literally, I am taking my last class and I graduate May 4th). I have been married for almost 4 years (4 years on May 3rd) and my husband and I have one son, Andrew, who will be 3 in June. So, literally, I am ALWAYS on my toes doing something as you can probably imagine.

I have always been an overweight person - I could never stay consistent enough with a program to keep weight off. I am 5'8" and had in the past weighed anywhere from an all time low of 145 (while exercising 2 hours a day!) anywhere up to 197 (which made me want to cry the day I saw that number, I had been in denial). However, after having my son in June 2004, I decided I was going to commit to myself and just DO it. I got back to my pre-pregnancy weight by December and by the following April, I was about 25-30 lbs below.

My fitness journey has brought me such joy getting to try so many different types of workouts. I currently work out 5-6 days a week, usually 6. Cathe is obviously one of my idols - I started doing her workouts in the summer of 2005 and have built up quite a collection since then. My workout collection/frequent workouts include Cathe, the Firm, Amy Bento, Tracey Staehle, Turbo Jam, Jari Love, and I recently started dabbling in P90X (although I am not doing the actual rotation at this time).

I am looking forward to getting to know all of you better and having a wonderful RT experience.

Are we planning to post our actual workouts as a check-in here? I think that would be GREAT - we can learn from each other.

I'll post my weekend's workouts:

Saturday: 7 minutes on the bike as warmup
60 min body sculpting class at the gym
60 min step class at the gym

Sunday: Tracey Staehle Step mix workout (approx. 55 mins - I had to skip one of the segments as my DVD player was acting up
Abs was Cathe's from Cardio and Weights (8 mins).

Anyway, that is all from me for now. I am looking forward to knowing all of you and sharing in this experience! Time to go downstairs and work on note cards for my FINAL paper of my grad school experience! :)

Tracy

P.S. to the other Tracy- we can be Tracy 1 and 2, Tracy + first initial of our last name, etc. if you want so we don't confuse everyone :7

RE: Road Trip Check-in!!!

This thread is great! I love reading about everyone!

Heather, Friday sounds good. I havent been to the liberty bell in years. I don't drive in Phila, but we could figure something out.

Bekki, Philly cheesteaks don't call me, but everyone says they're great! Sounds like a Philadelphia trip is in the works!

Wendy, I'm in Pennsville. My DS just moved out of Atco. She was there for about 20 yrs. I grew up in Woodbury which is about 20 min from Cathe.
