RE: Legs and Glutes, Hams are feeling it today!

;( I did legs and glutes for the second time last night and I have to say my hams are feeling it today. It must be from the one legged deadlifts or the hamstring leg raises on the step. OUCH! Fun video though! The music is AWESOME!
 
I'm ready to give this one another try. I wasn't real sore after my first try because I didn't do all of it. My legs were just too tired. Hopefully I can give it my all this week and really feel it the next day. I also love the music.
 
Hubby & I just finished it! I get so sore from this tape. (Or, it might be a combo of this one and K,P&C!) The music just makes it move along so quickly. :7 Are those side-lying-lifting-the-core and pulling the knee in & out thingies TOUGH or what? (Sorry, forget what they are called?) Whoa, they kill! I can finally do them all. The first two times thru I was lucky to do half of them! This is my fav tape of the series!

I agree, I can only make it through a couple of them before just doing the leg in and out. One day I may make it through all of them

I think this is a great workout for the whole leg and of course glutes!. My hams were sore the second time. I thought it was from the one legged deadlifts too. This is my favorite leg workout so far..:)
 
Hi Debbie! Hi five's to you and your hubby. So glad you are working out together. Oh and just to make you feel better about your hard work, the Outer Thigh and Glute Sweep exercise with ankle weights IS killer. I'll admit to practically seeing stars on the last two reps of the second set. Especially on the left side, since the left side was already fired up while we were lying on the right side. Did somebody say YOWSA?
 
I just did Legs and Glutes for the first time this morning. I LOVED it. It was tough, I was thinking maybe tougher than "Meaner Legs" I don't know. I'll see tomorrow if I'm able to walk. :)
Cathe, I didn't say YOWSA on those hip lift swingy things but I was talking to you. :eek: :7 PURE EVIL they are.
 
Whoo hoo! I finally did it with ankle weights (1.5 pounds). L&G is definitely my favorite leg workout of all time! Love it! (Well, maybe love is too strong a word, but I dread it less than any other leg workout--especially that dratted Meaner Legs.)

Me too! That second side just about did me in! I make sure to switch which side I start with each time as the second set usually gets a bit cheated at the end! WHEW! (I use 2 1/2# ankle weights and they feel like 10#'s on the second side! :p)

Did you say the ankle weights were 2 1/2 pounds? }( NO wonder my legs felt like they were being tortured! I was using 3 pounds and I stopped and lowered down on the second go 'round. My legs were making some very mean remarks to me!
At least now I don't feel quite as bad as the weights weren't as heavy as I thought.
3 pounds will be something to aspire to later (much later) down the road. :7 :7 }(

I just had a bad thought!}( Now that we are using ankle weights in this workout, you KNOW we have to add them to the leg floor work in the other Cathe workouts. PLB for starters. :p
(I'll go hide in the corner while you get all those med balls to throw at me.:p )
 
OOOOOOOOO!! I haven't yet done Legs & Glutes, but I am loving these reviews!! Ankle weights for PLB ... hmmm... I just happen to have a pair too ... LOL!!

Wanda, I think Cathe said she was using 2#ers??? Not positive. I have a pair that goes up to TEN POUNDS! Guess they'll be collecting dust! Carol wait til you try L&G's! It is sooo much fun. Great music makes it just flie by too. I love all the standing and High Step moves. Diff then any other Cathe workout. Let us know what you think.

I have the velco strap ankle weights that could go up to 6#s, but I only have the plates for 5#. I bought them from the Firm many ages ago. I feel good to be able to use them again.
Wowzie Wow! I can't imagine using 10#'s. Do you ever put that much weight on your legs?
I used 5# strap on weights when 'doing Jane' with the record when it first came out,(remember those days?). While doing the scissor move, (on your back with your legs straight up in the air) those strap on weights shifted and my legs came down so fast and with such a jolt, that I injured my back....big time.
Traction and having to stay in bed, laying on my back for 6 months was not fun. In those days, doctors kept you exercise free during back injury recovery.
You heal much faster these days with the new emphasis on movement.

But on the Legs and Glutes, the first leg did fine with the 3#'s, the second leg was not happy until I lowered down to 1#. Like you, I think by alternating which leg you start with each time, the legs will eventually get used to the added weight.

I'm really enjoying this new series. I'm still looking forward to the premixes though. I want to try one of AJ's or Jilly's mish moshes that they come up with. I'm sure it will be brutal.}( Ah, a brute for punishment, that's me. :7 :p

Noooo, I don't EVER use 10# weights on my ankles! OH MY! I have used up to 5#'s and that is enough of a challenge, thank you very much! Ha! Yes, I agree with you, this tape will help to strengthen our legs. I LOVE it and never dread doing it. (EXCEPT those explosive moves! YIKES! Gets the ole heart-a-poundin'!) I love the leg press on the High Step with the outer thigh sweep and also the leg pulse down 3X, then singles 2X move with the High Step the most. I have a hard time making myself do other tapes as this one is my favorite. Yes, I too will be waiting to see what torture Jilly and AJ want to put us through. Think of me next time you do L&G's. I'll probably be doing it too! ;-)

I did this for the first time a couple of days ago without weights. My butt and hams are still sore. Can't even imagine doing this with ankle weights. You guys that can do this with weights - I'm amazed.
