Re: Fingers Swollen?

For the past year and 1/2, I've noticed that my fingers, especially my ring finger on my left hand, have been swollen. I find it difficult to take my wedding band and engagement ring on and off. My diet is clean, stay away from salt and even have this problem even when it's not that time of the month.

Has this happened to anyone?

I've notcied that when I do step (high intensity stuff), my hands seem to swell. After I'm through, within about 30 min, they are back to normal. Don't know why.

No, I've actually lost weight in the past year. I've even lost weight and kept it off since my wedding. I was a size 7/8 for my wedding in 1993 and now I'm a size 2/4, also down 10 pounds. I can't figure out why my fingers are swelling. I occassionally get a little bloated in my face and chest area, but not as much as my fingers. I'm thinking about taking a water pill to see if it helps. I remember when I was taking Yasmin (birth control pill) approximately 2 years ago, I never had this problem. I haven't been on any birth control pill since then - it doesn't agree with me. I know that Yasmin contains a deuretic and maybe it helped my bloating, but I'm afraid that if I take a water pill, I might get dehydrated. Might have to discuss this with my doctor.

Definitely a good idea.
It could (a slight chance) be a sign of heart problems or something else serious, or something that a water pill (never a good idea) would make worse.

Have you taken up walking as exercise during this time? It could be just fluids pooling from swinging your arms (if that's the way you walk). But best to check with a doc to make sure.

I had the same idea as Kathryn. Maybe it is from swinging your arms as you work out. That always happens to me, but it should also be a temporary thing.
