Quit my job today. Anybody hiring?

Hi Nan, Heck good for you. It is ironic though isn't it, how you would think quiting a job you hate would make all the stress go away and instead it is replaced with the stress of money. Have you thought of crunching the numbers and seeing if it is worth it for you to stay unemployed? You mention that your child/children are in Kindercare. You would save money if you took him/her out and let him stay with you, a lot of money. I know day care is expensive. The only thing is you would have to be disciplined with how you spend your money. Sometimes working, especially part time costs you more money when you factor in daycare, lunches (for you), work clothes, gas, car maintenence for travel, the occassional Starbucks/Peets coffee trip, it all adds up. Something to think about. Good luck to you.

Did the temp agency thing today, said she has a couple temp to hire that I fit. She will contact them and I will call her on Monday. If I stayed home, we would budget, but it would be VERY tight. As in, can't afford an extra roll of toilet paper tight. We thought about that as well. Ideally, I'd be back to FT making what I was or nearly what I was making, or be able to work PT eves/weekends, still see the family, not pay for daycare and have some extra $$. It'll all work out in the end:) :)

Every state is different but more than likely you can collect unemployment at least for a time. If the company doesn't fight it you might get away with collecting it for the max allowed time or until you find another job (and some companies don't fight it). I'm in HR and it seems it is MUCH easier for the employee to get unemployment than for a company to win a challenge and have it denied.

I left my job too at the beginning of this month. I had had enough of my boss and my job and I wanted to spend more time with my daughter. I am a little worried about finances -- especially with the economy the way it is -- but I have never been happier. You'll make it and it will end up being the best decision you could make. My thoughts are with you!
