Questions: what DVD(s) to buy and Wii Active

LadyLep

Cathlete
I'm fairly new to Cathe workouts. I have these on my DVR from Fit TV:

Rhythmic Step (favorite!)
Step Blast
Imax 2 (did today, great but tough!)
Slow and Heavy: Chest and Back
Kick, Punch, Crunch

Just DVR'd or programmed: (so haven't tried)
Legs and Glutes
Muscle Endurance
Push and Pull

I own Core Max.

I would like to get some more, hopefully 4 but probably only 1. I am interested in getting something with good cardio (I like step) and tough weights. My goal is to lose 15 or so, I've already lost 14. I'm 5' 8" and am 8 pounds away from my wedding weight (almost 11 years ago). I also like variety in what I'm doing as well length, as sometimes it's nice to have a tough workout for 30 min (I'm thinking HiiT here)when I'm short on time but recently I've been able to workout for 50-70 min using a FitTV step (50 or so min) and then a Core Max Segment.

Here's what I have in my cart and it's over $200 and not going to happen:

HiiT
Step Moves
Drill Max
Circuit Blast
4 Day Split DVD series
Body Max 2
Intensity Series: Imax 2 + Cardio & Weights

The equipment that I have:
step (The Firm Box, 6" and 14")
stability ball (65cm, not even sure this is the right size)
3, 5, 8# dumbbells
free weights
resistance bands

I think I need to get 10, 12, 15, 20 and 25# dumbbells and maybe a stability ball. The dumbbells definitely if I stick with the Slow and Heavy: Chest and Back.

Any advice on which DVDs to get would be appreciated. I think HiiT, Body Max 2 and Imax 2 + Cardio and Weights are at the top. Feel free to suggest something that's not on my list as I'm new to Cathe.

One last thing, my hubby just bought me Wii Active, but I haven't taken it out of the packaging yet. I am not sure if it's worth the $60. Will I get a good workout? Anyone have this? I feel like it's not for someone who does advanced workouts. But on the other hand, it might be fun to have something light that I could do with him or my kids (3 boys: 3.5, 6, almost 9). Oh, I think I need to return the Wii Active by today or this weekend... if I'm going to.

Thanks,
Lady Lep

I just bought HiiT last week. I really like the high intensity and I think 30min is a good length (I would give out if it were much longer!), but maybe a half hour after I end up feeling like I havent done enough and usually do another one or another workout. I'm not sure if I think it's worth it.

I dont own Circuit Blast, but I think that might end up being a better buy, actually.

I do own the four-day split series and I LOVE IT. I'm really busy on the weekdays and an hour is perfect to fit in cardio and weights. I also like that two are low impact (low intensity step and kickbox) and two are high impact (high intensity step and boot camp) for when you are having slow and strong days. They come with a lot of premixes and even though the price is kind of high (IMO) I think it's totally totally worth it. I've owned 4DS for a little over a year now and I never get tired of it.
The 4DS series would also be good for you because you said you like step routines, but since it comes with two other cardio programs, you can stave off boredom from the same old routines. :)

If it were HiiT VS Circuit Blast VS 4 Day Split, I'd choose 4DS.

The ones I didnt mention are the ones I dont own. :)

Good luck and have fun!

Of what you have in your cart I would get:

Imax 2
4 Day Split
Body Max 2
Step Moves

Since you are new these are the ones (in addition to what I have listed above) that I enjoy:

Low Impact Circuit
Gym Styles Series (a Must HAve)
Muscle Max (a Must Have)
Low Max
Imax 3
Cardio Fusion
Athletic Step
Travel Fit (a Must Have)

Hiit and "must haves"

mrsprincess07,

Why not Hiit and why Travel Fit? I don't travel much. Actually why the 3 must haves?

Travel Fit
Gym style Series (I did look at this and it looked good, but frankly, less than 5 DIDN'T look good!)
Muscle Max

Thanks!

Choices!

This is what I'm thinking:

Either this combo:
Body Max 2
Imax 2
Hiit
Step Moves
Muscle Max

or this:
Body Max 2
Step Moves
Muscle Max
4 Day Split

The only DVD I own is Core Max. I have a bunch from Fit TV on my DVR. I wanted to see how I could put 4 Day Split in there. But I'm not sure the workout looks as tough as Imax 2 and I'm not a huge fan of kick boxing. But 4 60 min workouts is great....

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Ladylep,

Not sure if this is too late, but I would recommend IMAX2/Cardio & Weights and the 4 day split series. They are both great and some of my favorites. I also own the Shock cardio series and enjoy it, but for starters, I would work with the others. I find unless you have bands that are the right length (which I don't) travel fit doesn't work so well (read my bands are too short - need to get Cathe's 6 foot bands).

Enjoy whatever you have or are going to purchase.

DVDs bought

thanks for the reply. I think the 4DS is on my wish list. I needed to get them in March because of the great coupons. I ended up getting:

Body Max 2 (which I need to send back because it's defective) I've tried it 2 times and it skips thru most of the 4th step part of the circuit.
IMax 2/Cardio & Weights
Hardcore Extreme
Muscle Max

Next time there are some great coupons, I hope to get more. :)
