Questions for Lift, Move & Restore 2 Elevated - Questions??

I never hesitate to buy Cathe's series and I have not been disappointed by LMR. I find her workouts to be excellent no matter what and I don't expect them to be tailor made for me. She provides quality workouts that, if need be, I can change whenever I wish. For example, I recently mentioned how I don't stand as much when doing the spin workouts. I prefer to mostly stay seated. I still find the workouts effective when I'm seated and they help challenge me and give structure to my ride instead of absentmindedly sitting and spinning while watching a show. Some other workouts I follow to a T. The old saying works best here: you get out of it what you put into it.

Now you all have me laughing with the “no animal moves” followed by “no insect moves either.” :D:D Personally I like the scorpion move, but I wasn’t a fan of the super quick gorilla move from side to side—that was the gorilla move, right?

I can’t see her doing burpees or the like in any of the LMR series. Actually I think they might be too jarring for her shoulder and knee?

I also thought the newest video was a bit vague, at least vaguer than I was hoping for! It didn’t really convince me one way or the other. I’m not sure why 20 pound weights should make anyone nervous, just go lighter—I know I do if needed! I’d rather have the option to go heavier, and for me that means the moves should be slower. It’s hard for me to modify with heavier weight if the moves are too quick.

Actually I love the scorpion move, and some other yoga-animal-fish-plant moves :) .

ETA: Oops. . I forgot bird moves too!

I'm taking a look at LMR this weekend, in case I'm being too harsh. That may help. One problem is simply time. Do I have enough time to dedicate myself to a functional workout without giving up what I am doing now? Cathe has said this transition needs to take place, but I remain unconvinced. So my indecision continues. Ordering the series and deciding when more is known is my most likely course of action now.

Scorpion has grown on me. Used to not like it because it hurt my breasts, but I guess they've developed tolerance for it now as it doesn't bother me anymore. I love all the deep stretch, twist-yourself-into-a-pretzel moves. I feel proud of myself working through them, and overall, I enjoy anything that improves my mobility and flexibility.

I told my doc that I will continue to do what I am doing until I no longer can. He wholeheartedly agrees and supports this and has never told me I need to transition to something else. Cathe can’t know my body and I’m fortunate not to have experienced the injuries she has dealt with in her career as a fitness professional. Her situation has no doubt impacted her viewpoint on exercise while aging, as mine has on me.

Yes, there is definitely the matter of time! So many choices of workouts and not enough time to fit them all in!

I’d like to see someone put together an “all animal moves” workout! Maybe someone already has!

That's a plan. I've been doing similar and reviewing what I specifically do not like. Pilates Fusion is one - its good for mobility but I think I expected more from it due it's name - if it had a "mobility" title, I'd probably appreciate it more so that's how I plan to utilize it. The other big disappointment for me is the Barre Fusion - I really like Bootcamp(-ish) workouts but I just can't get a good workout from it. I can make the Fn weight training ones work for me on occasion with heavier weights & more reps, or for a recovery week, just like I do with the Boss Bands & Loops - they're a change up, not regular rotation workouts, unless again I'm having an issue (ITB stuff). I'm going to try adding LMR timesavers and bonuses to my April rotation as I did in December when I had a more favorable view before I tried a full month+ rotation with them. That attempted full rotation was the series' nemesis for me. I won't use them that way again, unless coming back from injury, illness, etc. And they're in reserve for the "maybe later, someday" shelf.

I think about this. We have a large workout collection. as probably many people here do. I've been thinking again about getting rid of some to clear the shelves (we still have some VHS). Last year I donated a slew of yoga workouts; altho I have looked for one or two to use before I remembered i gave them away ...ha ha. This month I've been revisiting some KCM & JS workouts I haven't done in years & that's been a nice change up. Variety is good.

I've been researching Functional training - the term has been buzzing around for awhile. It doesn't have to be easy. It usually does involve compound movements, balance, power, mobility, strength, especially core strength, etc. Much of it is what we've already been doing - just less emphasis on isolation exercises. I've had to work on flexibility and now mobility all my life - my tendons are just not as supple as the average & combining that with arthritis that aspect of Functional training is important to me.This past year I also focused on balance due to a knee injury. So I've been decreasing the number of sets of bicep and tricep work in many of Cathe's traditional weight lifting workouts to have more time for balance & mobility work. It's all trade-offs - what's important to me today.
