Question- Unexplained bruising.......

I am getting bruises or sore spots that aren't bruises yet on my forearms and one even on my upper arm between the tricep and shoulder. Am I lifting too heavy and bumping myself without realizing it during a workout?! I did Slow and Heavy Chest and Back yesterday and from what I can remember I didn't bump my arms.:+ My dh suggested that I am bursting blood vessels while lifting. I think my carpel tunnel is acting up because my forearm is staying numb (feels like it does when you are in the car with the air conditioner running and your arm get cold and numb but when you warm it up it goes back to normal) well my arm isn't going back to normal it is staying with that same numb feeling. Kinda hard to explain.

Anybody have any thoughts though on the bruising?:)

Thanks for listening!:D

I'd like to know the answer to this one too, I also have bruising all the time in random places. Legs and arms, but I've had it all my life. I do notice it more when I have been exercising lately, and I don't think I'm bumping myself either. Love to know if anyone knows the cause.

Thanks for posting this...

I get it real bad on my legs..my reumatologist told me it was from my fibromylgia...I also heard you can get it from being anemic...it is annoying because it makes my legs ugly because I get alot of them..about the size of dimes..sometimes quarters.x( x(

I bruise quite easily (at least it shows more than on someone with darker skin...I'm as pale as a fish's underbelly!) and I notice that when I bump myself (because I often do..klutz) I will often forget about it, then someone asks me where X or Y bruise came from and I don't know. I think also that heavy weight training and perhaps exercise in general may increase your tolerance for pain, so when you do bump into something, it doesn't "register" as much, and is easy to forget. I now have some bruises on my leg that I figure are from putting the dumbbells on my legs before hoisting into bench press position. I must be rougher with them than I thought!

You might want to check with your doctor just in case. Anemia and a vitamin defiency (C maybe??) can cause bruising also. But then again, it may just be that you aren't noticing when you get bumped. Couldn't hurt to double check tho.

I have this happen to me sometimes. Usually it is when I am taking a lot of aspirin, or not taking extra vitamin C. I have been to the point of just leaning on the counter would leave bruises. Also my daughter told me to quit taking vitamin E before doing laser treatments on spider veins. It can cause bruising. Just a couple of ideas. I know certain meds can cause bruising more easily. But sometimes you just bump areas or put heavy pressure on them without realizing you are bruising yourself. Good luck figuring it out.

I am usually full of bruises and have no idea where thye come from. My mom and grandmother too. I did go to my doctor and he ran a bunch of tests and evrything was normal. That is a relief, but it is sometimes embarrasing when someone asks about all the bruising.

Here's something weird but related in a "totally opposite" kind of way. I never bruise. I've had four bruises in my entire life, and I received two of them on the same day (from a person who was drowning--she's fine, now, btw).

I once fell down a flight of steps (6) and my shin landed squarely on the edge of the bottom step. No bruise. Hurt like the dickens, but no bruise. I've always wondered why. I'm very pale, so it isn't that. I wonder if I just have thick skin or something???

Anyway, I almost always have numerous sore spots that feel like bruises, but I rarely show a bruise.
