Question on Larabars

I bought a couple Larabars based on some recommendations on some previous posts, I think Kathryn was one of them. I love the taste and I love the fact that they are completely natural. The only thing is that they don't have a ton of protein and are probably not considered low calorie. Some have somewhat high sugar, although it's not processed sugar. Just wondering in what way folks eat these, I assume not as protein. Just a snack instead of fruit for instance? Maybe something in your purse when you're having a long day and need a quick snack?

Hi,
I usually eat them for a snack if I know I won't be eating the next meal for a while. I don't eat those bars too often because they make me thirsty for some reason. Once in a while, they'll give me a heartburn so I eat them once in a great while.

Maybe you could look at Jay Robb's bars? They're the same texture but I don't think they're as high calorie as the larabars. I could be wrong.

I eat them as a snack once in awhile as well...not everyday...and in replacement of a sugar fix.

And you are correct in that it is high in sugars but it is from the dates and fruits. On the Larabar website they suggest you can eat it with yogurt. I've done that too, broken it up in my yogurt.

Sometimes I've also used the Chocolate Mole one as dessert, heated it up slightly and put a little ice cream on it or just on its own.

Enjoy,
Sham

They have chocolate mole one?? At Trader Joe's, they only sell 3 different ones. Apple, Cherry and I think choco. coconut. I like the coconut one better. Thanks for telling me about the yogurt part. It might just make my greek yogurt tasty.

My Trader Joe's kind of sucks. I can't find a few things people on here talk about there. The one I went to in Indiana is HUGE compared to the one I go to here in NY.

I eat them as a snack. Or post workout.

For meal replacements (and more protein), I prefer Vega bars.

Lisa, I think those are the only one TJ's carries. Whole Foods has all of them, on sale right now. I got a box for $20 last night!

Personally, I think TJs has the right idea. The other ones are kinda icky to me. I'm sticking with Cherry Pie!!!

The nice thing with Jay Robb's bars (and his wonderful protein powders) is that they are made with stevia. They all taste wonderful to me; however, they are pretty soft and chewy. Some people aren't too thrilled with the texture but I don't mind them at all.

Ditto..Larabars are wonderful to carry around for a quick "fix." I too like the Vega bars, but I need to drink an awful lot of water with them....they make me so thirsty (with the Larabars some but not as much water is required ;)).

Not to provide too much information, but that cherry pie one I ate went in and out, so to speak. Must have been the dates in it. ha :p
