Question: Is it wrong of me to do strength all the time...

I am really enjoying strength training and have been neglecting endurance type workouts. Am I doing myself more harm than good by not mixing them up? I am currently just doing the PS Series 3 times a week and then cardio 3 times per week and having a blast seeing how heavy I can go.:) What are others thoughts on this way of training or working out? I do gradually increase my weights every week or so and am seeing wonderful strength progress.:7

Thanks :D

IMHO, what you're doing right now is just fine. While there can be value in constantly mixing up, or "rotating" your resistance training protocols, it's not necessarily a be-all and end-all of a healthy and progressive program.

The most telling thing about your post, Annette (see? I can spell that!) is your comment, " . . . am seeing wonderful strength progress."

Annette, I have been doing strength training exclusively since the first week of November. I do only one or two cardio sessions a week. Like you, I'm "having a blast seeing how heavy I can go" and am liking the progress I am making. Because I've lessened my cardio, I am watching what I eat more closely. That's the only change I've made. I'm not going back to my endurance workouts until after the holidays (maybe) when I MIGHT need to do more cardio and when I MIGHT start to get bored with doing just strength training. I'm having fun right now and what I'm doing is working great.

As A-Jock said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Though from the title of your thread, it sounded like maybe you were doing all strength and no cardio, you actually have a nicely balanced workout schedule. As long as you are still seeing progress, then go for it! If you see that you are no longer making progress, or just getting bored with the same workout, then it will be time to change (though you can change whenever you want!)

RE: Question: Is it wrong of me to do strength all the ...

Annette- I agree with everyone here. If you're having a good time (which is the key to continued success) keep it up! If you get bored, throw in a little more cardio (or CTX) to mix it up. I personally found when I heavied up my lower body seemed to get a little bulkier than I like but a lot of people get that great lean look. Stick with what you like and what works!:)
