Question for Moms....

Goodmorning ladies,
Hoping you all are having a good day.

My 6yr old daughter goes to summer camp so she goes swimming in the pool everyday. We also go to our local pool club on the weekends. Her hair is so dry from the chemicals in the water so I have been washing her hair maybe 2/3x a week. What can I put in her hair to condition it. Im looking for a leave in conditioner. Any suggestions???
Thanks!

Two of my kids are competitive swimmers who are in the pool all the time. Look for a shampoo specifically for getting the chlorine out. Ultraswim is a good one. It's available at drugstore.com. I've got friends who have also gotten a chlorine removal shampoo at beauty supply stores. I've also used one by Suave Kids that I got at Target. As far as conditioner, anything should be good...maybe one for dry hair? The sooner she can wash her hair after getting out of the pool the better. But at camp that may not be up to her. HTH

I just Googled Ultraswim to see if any other stores have it & it's at Walgreens as well. They also have a conditioner I didn't know about :)

Ultra Swim

Just wanted to second the motion for ultra swim. My daughter swims a lot also. When she was about 8 years old she wasnt rinsing out her hair when she got out of pool. Needless to say I spent about 45 minutes with conditioner in the bathtub with her trying to get out chlorine knots. The shampoo and conditioner will have you praising the heavens.

The best I've found for removing salt and chlorine from hair is either Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three or Aveda has one that comes in an orange bottle. Both are specifically for chlorine/salt water residue removal. They work better than anything from the grocery store. We have a salt water pool, so I have tried everything on my kids' hair.

This isn't a fix it, but my hair dresser said to always wet your hair down thoroughly before getting in a pool. Something about the hair absorbing the fresh water first and then it absorbs less of the chlorine water when you get in the pool. I don't know how scientific that is, but I always do it anyways. And I use a clarifying shampoo that's made specifically to get the chemicals out of your hair as soon as I get out of the pool.

I'll have to go see what this stuff is called, but I have this aweome mint hair mask that you put on for like 5-10 minutes and it deep conditions your hair like nothing else. I get it at the salon. I'll try to remember to look it up when I get home. It's awesome.
