question for fitnessfreak-how much cardio?

I noticed that everyone seems to ask you questions and you answer, so here is mine. I have about 25 lbs to lose. How much cardio should I be doing? and what type? and how long? I usually do the IMAX' s or the circuit dvds. I have all of cathe's dvds. I work out about 5 times a week, strength about 2-3 times and cardio 3-4. Usually not steady state though. I just got a couple of cardio coaches. I really like them. Should I be doing more steady state cardio and less intervals? more strength training? I just read that you lost 50 lbs and did alot of cardio. This is why I am asking you. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I am a cross between meso and endo (Probably more endo), very curvy but more so on the bottom. I am only 5 foot. ( i don't know if this info is relevant)I can gain 5 lbs with one bad meal and it can take a week before I'm back to where I was.

BTW, is that you in your avatar? Awesome abs, my dream.

Thankyou, chrissy

I was reading some of your old posts and you mention how you keep track of what you need to eat. Is this a special program? or did you create it yourself.

Chrissy,
I think you need to try a breakdown of something like this:

Mon.: Chest/Tri's
Tues.: Cardio
Wed.: Back/Bi's
Thur.: Cardio
Fri.: Shoulders/Legs
Sat.: Cardio
Sun.: Off

For cardio mix it up, do steady state one day, HIIT the next and so on. No need to get stuck in the mind set that you have to work cardio one way or the other. As long as you get your HR up and sweat a bit, it's all good.

When lifting, do it as heavy as you can go for the amount of sets and reps you shoot for. Maybe use the Gym Style workouts or Slow & Heavy for these days. Take longer breaks then Cathe does, that helps with muscle growth and going heavier with the weights.

Work your abs about twice a week using Cathe's workouts.

Yes, those are my abs in my avatar. :D

Debbie,
Thanks for the input. I am surprised only 3 days of cardio for weight loss? will I lose too much muscle doing more cardio than that?

I was also wondering about the food program you use.
thankyou,
chrissy

If you are a true meso with endo tendancies, limited cardio is ok. See how it goes. If you are eating clean 99% of the time you should be fine. I know when I tighten up my diet, my weight and body fat drops dramatically.

Right now I am on a rotating calorie level days. I eat high (2050 calories), medium (1950) and low (1860) right now. My macros are changing with each days recommendations as well. Too much to type and I don't have a lot of time.

If you need me to figure out the calorie range you should be eating in I'll need your age, height and weight.

oh that would be great!
I am 5 foot, 39 years old, and about 140. My LBM is 93 lbs. I got dunked over the summer. I don't think I am a true meso, I think I have more endo tendencies. I put on weight so easily. I am fairly strong. I have a big chest small waist and large hips and thighs (My butt and thighs bother me the most).

Whenever you get a chance. I am going away tomorrow. Thank you so much for your help. Diet is my biggest issue. I get very confused, I hear so many different things about macro ratios. I noticed you eat high protein, moderate carbs. I am taking a nutrition class and she tells us to eat 55% carbs. If I eat this high, I end up eating way to many!

Thanks chrissy

Hi Debbie,
I just noticed a post you wrote about WW. I am following that right now. I am at 19 points level. Do you think that is too low for me? Since I exercise I can eat 2-3 more points. I noticed if I do eat even a few of the extra weekly points I won't lose any weight. I think my metabolism is screwed up from the 20+ years of yo-yo dieting.
I'm 5foot and 39 yrs. I weigh 134 lbs and would like to lose 15 -20 more pounds. Thanks for any advice.

My figures show that you should be eating between 1441-1647 calories to lose weight. Your calories to maintain your current body weight is 2059 calories.

You need to figure out how many calories you are eating at 19 points. Keep track one day and figure it out. I'm thinking you aren't eating enough.
