Question about STS

Hi Cathe, This is my first post and I hope I am posting it in the proper location! I have been using your strength training dvds for a long time (years) and love them, and I also do many other types of workouts (Pilates, Ballet, Yoga, tough dance cardio, etc). I recently began STS and am following the program doing STS, cardio, STS, cardio, STS, etc.. I am noticing that I while the workouts are great and I am working hard, I am generally not working as hard as when I have used your other dvds in conjunction with other dvds and classes I go to. Can I go ahead and add an additional day of weight training or perhaps another day of lighter weight training to the three days of STS for the week, or will that compromise the effectiveness of STS? Thank you.

Yes, and am working as hard as I can, struggling with the last couple of reps! I have only done a couple of the workouts, and I know they will get progressively more difficult. Maybe it is a matter of time for me to feel that I am working as hard as I have been accustomed to. Which still leaves me with the original question~ will adding one additional day of lighter strength training hinder STS or would it be okay given my level. Thanks.

I am just about to start Week 3, Meso 3 and have done the program as designed, with (most!) of my 1RM done. Although I had to tweak my weights a bit here-and-there, I have gotten the best results I have ever gotten from weight-training. And all without feeling completely wiped-out at the end of the workouts, just good and worked-out! STS has changed my mindset of having to lift weights and feel like I'm going to die by the end of the session. It has showed me that quality and efficiency wins out over quantity...not to mention having science and fitness experts do all the research for me in terms of gaining strength and muscle definition.

I'd say try the program as designed without any add-ons...it was hard for me too, but I was determined to do STS as planned and could not be happier with the results!

Thanks for your reply! I actually used very light weights in a class today and could tell, even after 2 rest days, that my arms were still recuperating from Thursdays Back and Triceps session! Sometimes I think that I need to rest more than I have allowed myself to in the past.. I used to do lightish (10 lb.) weights at night in a class with cardio and some toning, and then the next morning, do a workout like Pyramid! I know now that I don't have to work that hard, and that really I am not giving my body enough rest time. However, despite all of this, I have still leaned out a lot, and am seeing definition. I am excited about STS and will continue with it, mostly as is. I think I can forgo the weights in my classes most of the time in order to allow enough rest! Tomorrow is Legs! BTW- is it true that the workouts will get progressively more challenging? I know I will continue to increase my weights, but are the workouts designed to become more challenging? Thanks again!
