Question about Seasun Zieger

I'm thinking of buying one of her DVD's to try and was looking for suggestions on which one I should try first. They all look pretty fun to do, but I'm leaning towards The Next Step.

Thanks for your help.

Amy

I have The Next Step and Rock Steady Step. They are pretty complex and very turny. Straight Up Step is supposed to be the least complex of the three. I like Seasun and her choreography is fun but it might take a few times before you get it unless you're used to complex choreography. Her workouts are a lot of fun.

How does she compare to Cathe as far as complexity? When I first started with Cathe I really struggled with All Step and the 3rd segment of Step Blast, but I just kept plugging away at it and I eventually got it. I'm used to Cathe's choreography now and don't struggle that much, but I just don't want to get a workout where I'm struggling with the choreography for the entire workout.

I think she's more complex than Cathe. I still haven't mastered her workouts (I have her first two) but I haven't really spent much time on them either. I haven't been in a complex mood lately! The biggest problem I have with her is that a lot of the moves are facing away from the TV, either your back is to the TV or to the side, so I never know what foot I should be on. What little I've mastered is fun though!

I love all three of Seasun's step workouts.

I love complex choreography and crave workouts that are more complex than Cathe's. Seasun fits the bill.

Based on the fact that you've struggled with some of Cathe's stuff, you will probably need to watch Seasun a couple of times, then try a combo at a time and see how you do.

I think it is well worth it. Personally, I have never struggled with any part of The Next Step. I think it is cued very well, and moves flow, etc. etc. I like it better than Rock Steady Step and Straight Up Step, but I think they are all great step workouts and I use them all.

Netflix might have these available--you can try before you buy...

Good luck!

I personally think she does the most complex choreography out there. I wasn't too thrilled with her step workouts as I thought they were *too* complex for me, but I LOVE her bosu workout. It takes a few tries to get it, though... which isn't necessarily a bad thing! It does make me more likely to go back and try her step workouts again, though, because the fun factor is pretty high!

Hi Amy,

I have Seasun's Straight Up Step, which Seasun said is the easiest choreography of her Step DVD's, not intensity. It is more complex choreography than Cathe's but is a lot of fun once you learn it. I'd like to get more of her Step workouts. She also has a Bosu workout which is great. It's CIA 2604 Double Cardio. Sharon Money Twombly teaches an All Body Cardio workout on that DVD, which is fantastic. 2 great workouts on one DVD, can't beat it! Seasun's website is http://www.seasunz.com/index.asp. Have fun deciding!

I'm not the best at complex coreography (but I constantly try working at it). Cathe's about as complex as I used to go. I ordered Seasun's SUS a long time ago and after I learned it, it became my fave workout to do when I wanted a mood lift. I then ordered Rock Steady Step and learned about the first 40 minutes of it and I like that (don't know if I'll ever learn the rest), but the Next Step was totally over my head. I couldn't even get the first 2 minutes of it. I haven't tried it lately though. I love Seasun!

If you like complex coreography, Rebecca Small is a good instructor. She is from Australia and her DVDs are usually from Marcus Irwin's company, Evolution Studios. She has one out at www.FitnessOrganica.com called Step 2 Success. I love it. Of course, if you want them to be a bit more intense, you probably should do it on a higher step and I always add a bit of jumps and propulsions, etc. Rebecca & Seasun are the best IMO. Rebecca teaches in the layering method and her combos get harder as they go on. No warm-up or c/d on Rebecca's and she teaches like it's geared to step instructors.

Have fun with Seasun.

I went over to Netflix, and they do have Rock Steady Step, Straight Up Step and Double Cardio (the one with Sharon Money Twombly's workout, which I agree is excellent).
If you don't have an account with Netflix, it may be worth the $10 a month to be able to preview workouts before you buy. I have tried lots of things I thought I wanted, only to save myself a lot of money when I decided they weren't for me after all.

I have Seasun's DVD's. I especially like "The Next Step" 2005 bonus where there are two steps to work on. Talk about a lot of fun. This took me ages to figure out, but I now can do it.

Have fun, but prepare yourself for very very advanced choreography. This kind of stuff makes my mind just a little sharper.

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

I have Rock Steady Step and the Next Step. I think the choreography is very complex compared to Cathe, but not as athletically intense. I must admit, that it took me so long to get RRS down that I have not tried the Next Step.

My mind certainly gets a workout when doing this one--can't let it wander at all!

Hello,

I have just received The Next Step DVD and previewed it last night for about 20 mins. I think the workout is low intensity and probably a good alternative to Cathe's Low Impact Step, which I do not have. I would prefer a more intense workout.

I will try her choreography out and see how that compares to Cathe, but from what I have seen it doesn't seem to be more complex than Rhythmic Step.

I find her rather young as an instructor and probably more appealing to younger girls/women with her long blond pony tail and tall thin figure. I am not sure that I could take her seriously as an instructor. I also previewed a little bit of the core workout and it doesn't look as professional as Cathe, she seems to figet around a little bit before getting into position whereas Cathe get straight to work.

I would still incorporate this into my workouts though, but nothing compares to Cathe.

(Maybe I'm picky because I am used to Cathe's quality and professionalism.)

Complexity-wise I would say Seasun is even tougher than Christi although I think Christi cues a little better.

Marcy

I hope that we can agree to disagree but I feel that Seasun is just as professional as Cathe. She does have a unique style, so you can't compare her to Cathe-- but I would not say that she is any less professional. Anyways, I think the last workout that she released is the one that I prefer the most (The Next Step). The intensity of all of her workouts is advanced and she has some fun choreography. I would say to give her a try but be patient in learning (preview it first) and then have fun!:)

Hi,

I must stress that I have only previewed and seen the DVD cover so far, I have yet to try the workout. But I did noticed that her DVD cover was a little blurry, it looked like a bootleg copy (I bought this from a legitimate vendor www.advancedworkouts.com). I also noticed a clip where she was stepping on 2 steps! I hope that was in another video. I would defintely use the workout and if I like her choreography and intensity I would consider purchasing more.

Yen

Thanks for your replies everyone. I think I'm going to start with Straight Up Step since it sounds like that one is a little less complex with the choreography and I'll go from there. Thanks again.
