Pyramids!!

Luv2WorkHard

Cathlete
I just tried pyramid upper body last night and all I can say is "WOW" - I love that workout! Since this is only an upper body workout, I was afraid I would get bored. Not a chance. I couldn't believe how quickly the 56 minutes flew by. Prior to this one, I've only done Cathe's total body workouts, so this was new for me. Perhaps this was why I was hesitant to try it.

Even though I have been lifting light weights for a few years, I am new to the "heavier" lifting category. For pyramids, I used 5, 8, and 10 lbs. for the exercises and it was just fine (for tricep extensions I used 2.5, 5, and 8). I think I can handle a heavier weight for the chest presses, so I am going to go get some 12 lb. dumbells on my lunch break today. Exciting...:D

Just wanted to share this with anyone who is a beginner weight lifter like me and may want to know about this workout. It's awesome!!!

I have a feeling you'll be buying a few more heavier dumbells!!! I love the Pyramids and agree, the time just flies by...the bicep exercises are killers when trying to increase you weight amount!!! Have fun...:)

Me too!! I loooove PUB!! And it was my 2nd purchase after Muscle Max. I started w/ 8, 10, & 12 lbs because I didn't have any heavier & after the 2nd time purchased 15 lbs. I don't have 20 lb dumbbell's, but I do have 2 10 lb barbell weights that I use together for the triceps & back. Pretty soon you'll be getting 15's too! 20's are on my list of things to buy soon though!

I've also never really been into heavier weights, I'm a runner but now I'm loving the definition I'm seeing since doing PUB/ MM for a couple mos!!!

Hugs,

Thanks for the info, everyone! It is always helpful to hear from those who have already experienced the progression. If I am doing this workout 2x per week, approximately how long does it *generally* take before I will be ready to incrementally increase the weights? I know it's different for everyone, but I am just trying to get a ballpark...2 weeks? 4 weeks? 6 weeks? I do tend to build muscle rapidly when I am focusing but am very slim right now.

Thanks!

It is different for all of us....but when the weight you are using gets to feeling easier (2-4 weeks maybe)....then increase, but be careful with the shoulders and only increase by about 1 lb. You don't want to stress out those shoulder joints...:)
