Hey you guys.
Before I fill you in on the producer meeting, I want to tell you what just happened.I'm freaking out right now and need to get this out. So far, since the ride home, my DH, cousin and friend just said to stop worrying, and even though they are right, my heart is pounding hard right now.
I just came back from a doctor's visit with one of my sons. He has had a lump under his knee for a while now, but we went to the doctor, who did a biopsy and told us it was a Lipoma, which is just a fatty mass. He told us he only tested the surface, but was confident that it wasn't more serious. He referred us to a surgeon and felt that it should be removed, just to be sure. Meanwhile, it has gotten a bit bigger while we waited for the surgeon appt. and it has been hurting him and he has been feeling like it was pulling on something in his leg. So, we get to the surgeon, and the first thing he says is " did the doctor only test the top of this thing? Because this doesn't feel at all like a Lipoma. He may have only tested the top which would be consistent with a Lipoma, but it is too hard and solid for that." So, we set up an appt. for next Thursday for an MRI. Then we go from there. I have to tell you guys that I am really scared. I know it's probably nothing serious, but I'll tell you that we have had serious things happen in the past and this feels similar already to me. And by now you guys know I am not a doom and gloom person. So, extra prayers would be really good. And maybe one of those shakes Tess had... of course that would put me in a diabetic coma, so maybe not. There's definitely a glass of wine in my future though.
The producer meeting. Well, it went very well. Basically this guy is the real thing. He has been around, won grammys, AMA's, etc. Worked with some pretty heavy duty artists. He is also one of the most modest, laid back people I've ever met. I like that. He's not showy or throwing the world at us. He is at a point in his career where he can choose the projects he wants to pursue. He makes no promises about anything, which is good because we have already been down that road. He is one of the best in the business. We are in contract negotiations for part ownership between us and him of the recording of this album, blah, blah, blah. This is not a record label. Last time the boys recorded their first album, it was on an independant label, and it did okay, but the marketing effort was on a small scale. Now they have 14 new songs that are even better and more mature than before! We have enjoyed some really good sales and play locally, lots of local publicity and they have actually been on several TV shows locally, played lots of great venues, but we haven't gotten past that. Soooo, we would begin recording in October. Once that is done, we have several options. This guy is so laid back, and although he won't promise anything, I'm pretty sure that once it's done, if it's a project he feels strongly about, he would use his connections to get it out there. If he has part ownership, there is something to gain by him doing that. So, it's another step for us. We have had a manager for them but he has been pretty useless, so we need to find another one. Understand that this is all being led by the fact the the boys have a drive and talent. We ( DH and I)haven't pushed this at all.But it seems like it has taken on a life of it's own! As a matter of fact, having this band has added alot of work and added stress to our lives. But their music deserves to be heard and has been recognized by some pretty great people so far.( BTW, Hootie and The Blowfish and Edwin Mcain are now friends of ours because they like the boys music!! HEHE. We are going to see Hootie in two weeks and get to hang out with them... again!!) So, we owe it to the kids to support them in this endeavor. We still have some talks and contract stuff to do with the bass player, who is the only membeer of the band who is not one of my own, although he has become part of our family. So, it's all good. I have learned in the music business not to get too excited about anything. It's all about patience and letting things happen they way they are supposed to. But, this could be a pretty big step in getting the boys to the next level. This guys thinks that my son Sean's song writing is way beyond his years and that people will probably pay him alot of money to both publish his music and buy his songs. Who'da thunk??
Oh, BTW, for those I didn't tell yet, they will be on a Fox TV show called Fearless Music TV. The new season airs in Septemeber, and we will knwo which air date they have within a week of that dat. They taped for the show back in March. This is a syndicated show, and you should all be able to see it so I'll let you all know when that happens!! The name of their band is A Fragile Tomorrrow BTW. If you haven't checked them out yet, they have a website. It's Afragiletomorrow.com
So, right now my heart is a little heavy. I teach in an hour and a half then I will indulge in my glass of wine.
Thanks for listening to me!! You guys are the best and I give you all a big {{{HUG}}}... ( okay, I really needed that hug... thanks!!)
