PYGFO Sisters:
I had the first of 4 monthly fitness evaluations at the club Friday night. My blood pressure is excellent, and I aced the 3-minute step test. Thank you, Cathe! I ran my first mile Friday night too! Well, I ran-walked. It was humbling to realize that I can keep up with Cathe’s intense step workouts, but a few minutes of running kicks my butt! I started off at full speed (as my cardio boot camp trainer told me to sprint) and made great time for the first lap, but I had to walk a few times after that because my butt was burning and my thighs were on fire. The good news is that it should be relatively easy for me to improve my 14-minute mile. LOL! It took me 25 minutes to walk a mile at my top weight, so I am making progress in the right direction. After my run, I went into the fitness center and completed my assisted chin-ups and dips (2 sets of 4 reps for each).
My goal for the June test is to be able to complete the mile without any walking rests so I can see what my true time is and then start improving my time. My heart and lungs are in better shape than the rest of me. My goal has always been to start running when I get closer to my goal weight, but I am inspired to rise to the challenge and run a mile with ease by July or August. My heart and lungs could handle it now, but my legs give out on me.
This was a delightful Saturday! I slept until 7:00 a.m. and enjoyed the stability ball segment of Stretch Max this morning. I rested and read a book this morning.
I enjoyed my favorite whole wheat lasagna for lunch. Yummy! Instead of relying on Amy’s organic frozen meals, I am making my homemade favorites again. I tried this recipe with 2 percent milk string cheese today, and it was just as good. I made it with 5 simple ingredients: organic whole wheat lasagna with flax seed, organic pasta sauce, fat free ricotta cheese, 2 percent milk string cheese, and a touch of Parmesan cheese. I fix a single serving in a mini loaf pan so I am not tempted by leftovers. It is very satisfying and filling.
I had a strong craving for sweet tea today as PMS time is here again. I stood firm. I will enjoy it again in a few weeks. I went to the salon this afternoon for a hair appointment and was served a refreshing glass of iced cucumber lemon water. It was very refreshing. I need to keep a pitcher in my refrigerator because it may inspire me to drink more water on the weekends. I drink close to a gallon a day during the week, but I lose interest in water when I am at home for some reason. Of course, I drink plenty of water during my workouts.
I went to Academy tonight, tried on countless pairs of running shoes, and choose the Nike Air Max Moto + running shoes. I thought Asics Gel Kayanos were my dream running shoes, but they did not feel as good as these on my feet. I could not justify spending $40.00 extra dollars for them. The Nike Shox did not feel as good either. This pair has just the right support and cushion. I am excited to go for a run! I bought a pair of Nike Musique dance cardio shoes for the Road Trip dance party and DanceWorks.
Here is a summary of my workouts for the week since I skipped a few check-ins:
