PYGFO Check-in for Monday, October 22, 2007

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
PYGFO Sisters:

Good morning! Well, I think it is morning anyway. I have not been to bed yet. I did not go to bed the night before either, but I did take a nap between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Wow! After previewing Higher Intensity Step at midnight, I am fired up and ready to take on hell with a water pistol! I am double knotting the laces on my ice skates too because hell is freezing over. This cardio lover is fixin’ to embrace heavy weights.

My plan has not been working for me, so I am ready to give Cathe’s 4-Day Split a whirl. The production quality is nothing short of spectacular, and I am looking forward to experiencing this fun and challenging workout for the first time this morning. I wonder if I should take a nap first?

I had a weighty revelation Sunday afternoon. Miss Cathe inspired me to buy heavy weights. I was feeling discouraged because I am “only” 50 pounds below my top weight after 4 years of this amazing journey and have “only” lost 20 pounds so far this year. Friends have been encouraging me that this is something to celebrate. I am a visual learner. I need to see it and experience it firsthand to really get it. I took a field trip to Target Sunday afternoon for a powerful lesson. When I picked up a 20-pound weight, it dawned on me that 20 pounds is a lot of weight! I bought 10-pound plates, 20-pound weights, and 25-pound weights on sale. I actually found pretty Reebok weights that are encased in rubber with chrome trim. They do not make heavy weights in pretty colors, so these will have to do! They are much more attractive than the cast iron weights.

I carried the 10-pound plates (a total of 20 pounds) up the stairs first. That was easy. Then I returned to my car and carried the 20-pounds weights (a total of 40 pounds) up the stairs. That was more challenging but still doable. By the time I made the third trip up the stairs with the 25-pounds weights (a total of 50 pounds), I was praying and telling God that I could use some help! It definitely took me longer to make that final climb up those stairs. It dawned on me that I was carrying the equivalent of the 50 pounds of fat I hauled around all the time when I started this journey at 260 pounds. No wonder my feet and joints hurt all the time! I was in such bad shape that I had to rest after every few steps to catch my breath. I am rejoicing in my heart and praising God for the amazing progress I have made. Yes, I am still 80 pounds above my goal weight at 210 pounds (size 20), but I am filled with renewed hope after carrying these heavy weights from my car to my home. I can finally imagine how much lighter on my feet I will be and how much better I will feel when I break free from this fat cocoon.

Cathe is waiting for me. I am so excited! I believe with all my heart that this is my breakthrough series. This is a new challenge for me. I have never trained this way before. My game face is on, and I am embracing the challenge and committing to get fit with Cathe’s 4-Day Split!!!! Join me if you dare!

Blessings,
Heather B.

Good Morning!
Today was DM cardio only and then I was going to go run, but it started raining and so I decided to tack on LIS cardio only. LIS was fun, but will be more fun when I get the steps down!! I burned a total of 605 calories.

Heather--So glad to see you start the thread this morning. I always enjoy reading your posts! I hope you enjoy working out with your new weights and using the new Cathes. I hope you are able to get some sleep, girl!

Have a great day everyone!
Gin:)

Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a nice weekend. I sure did, busy but fun. Saturday & Sunday I got to break in the new Cathe's. Saturday I did the bootcamp / bi's & tri's and yesterday was LIS with shoulders & core. I really enjoyed the bootcamp. LIS was just OK for me but I think I will enjoy it more once I get the moves down. Step is just not my thing as you all know but I really loved the heavy weight work for shoulders. I can tell that I am going to use the upper body premix on these ALOT. Tonight I'll try out the kickbox / leg workout - I'm really looking forward to this one.

So Friday night was our ACF get together. We really had fun. Lorie's dogs are so sweet, it melts your heart. I wanted to take Linus home with me.

Heather - have fun with your heavy weights. I can tell you that I rarely use 25 lbs for any exercise...maybe back. I do use 20's for chest press and overhead tricep extensions. Do you have 15's and 12's? Those are the ones that get the most use for me.

Gin - sorry you got rained out. That's a bummer....but hey, you got to practice your stepping. Oh and YES, that pic I took really is one of my favorites from the RT. :)

Hope you ladies have a great day.

Afternoon Ladies

Today I did the "all Upper Body Premix" 61 minutes from the new 4 Day Split. It was a great workout. My left shoulder is a little sore though. I guess I need to work up to that heavy weight:eek: Seemed like there were also lots push-ups in the chest workouts.

Heather - Glad to hear you're going heavy. You'll never look back once you master the heavy weights.

Tess - LIS is so fun once you get the groove of it. Glad to hear you guys have fun at Lorie's.

Gin - 605 calories just from LIS:eek: Holy cow, I need to do that workout twice a day!!:p

Hope everybody else has a great day

Carolyn

Good evening Ladies of the PYGFO.

Heather, I think 20 pounds this year so far is nothing to sneeze at. I consider the 5 pounds I've lost and keep off since this time last year a huge achievment. Have fun with your new weights. I'm making due with what I have. DH is mad at me for pre-ordering workouts from Amy and Tracey, so I don't think he'd be pleased if I went out and bought 25 and 30 pound dumbbells. I'm not sure I could use them at this point anyway. I used two 15 pounders in one hand for the one arm rows on HIS and it was a struggle.

Gin, I know what you mean about getting a better workout when you've learned the steps. I did HIS for the second time and it could have been the first. That's part of the trouble getting 4 workouts at once. When I get one, I do it a few days in a row till I pretty much know it.

Tess, I envy you with the ACF group. Everyone I know well from Catheland lives far, far away. At least a couple hours.

Carolyn, there ARE a lot of push ups!!!

We had a nice time in DC over the weekend. I didn't get to do a workout, but we walked so much, I didn't feel guilty. No lunch and no snacks helped keep the guilt in check too. I think we are done traveling for a bit now. DH mentioned trying to get to the finger lakes for an adult get away between Thanksgiving and Christmas, which would be great. We'll see.
