PYGFO August 10-16

LauraR

Cathlete
I decided to start this week's thread after posting yesterday on the old thread from last week. :)

My room is still full of boxes, but new shelves are going into my garage even as I write, so my room should be cleared out soon. Meanwhile, I went ahead and worked out in the living room, even though it has no AC.

I did a FIRM video for the first time in years. It was Cardio Burn, one of their toughest, I think. I was amazed at how "intermediate" it felt after Cathe. It's still a good workout, especially after not doing "formal" workouts for several days. But compared to what I'm used to with Cathe, it's just not a killer. I am impressed with my level of fitness!

But it did help me decide to hang on to my FIRM videos for a while longer. I haven't been able to part with them, even though I hardly use them. But I might do one now and then. Beginning this fall, I'm going to have all 3 kids in school, at least for the morning. My teaching load is also less. So I'm going to try to work out more. If I'm working out 6 days a week, I may feel like sticking in some not-so-intense workouts from time to time.

I'm so happy for all of you who got to go on Road Trips again this year. This time last year, I was with you in NJ!

Laura

Hi PYGFOers!

Today I ran and yes, Laura, I plan to do LM in a minute. I'm hoping that I can get through it. I stayed up late watching the Olympics and am little tired now.
Tomorrow I start my new job with a week of new staff orientation, so I may have to start posting in the late aft from now on.

Laura~I had a ton of Firm videos before cathe, but I don't remember that one. I decide last year to get rid of them all. I may regret that. I loved them at one point. What is the temp. there if you don't have a/c? Have you done any Cathe's since you have been back? That will be nice to have a 3 of your kinds in school for part of the day.:)

Lara~Are you still celebrating your b-day? Or is the cake all gone?:p

Liann~You were so sweet to share the great pics with all of us! It looked like you had a great time, except for the bad weather getting home.:(

Hi to Randi, Heather, Robin and anyone else that drops by!
Have a great day!

Hello.

I just got back from the doctor. She said I am still not dilated, but to be patient. She said I could have her as early as this weekend. Or, she may be content to stay in a little longer. Who knows?? I actually had a dream that my water boke this morning. I couldn't decide if it was real of just a dream. She thinks the baby will be small, which is good for me since I am smaller framed. I told her I had a dream (before we knew the sex of the baby) and that it was a girl and she weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces. She said I could be right on! I am just ready for her to be here. It does get uncomfortable at the end!!
Yesterday was 4DS LIS/HIS cardio and GS Legs. Today was DM.

Laura...Yes, if you work out 6 days/wk, I think you will want to hang on to some of the less intense workouts. If I work out 6 days, I always want at least one day of less intense cardio to give my joints a little rest. I am such a cardio junkie though. I feel like I need to do it every day!

Gin...I hope your new job orientation goes well. Let us know how you like your new job! Sounds like you had a good workout today. I am with you on the tiredness. I just don't sleep much anymore.

Liann...So glad you made it back safely in that horrible storm!! It sounds like this was a great RT!!

Have a great rest of the day!

Lara--Yes, I've learned that I can't put in 6 intense days per week. There've been times when my schedule only allowed 3 workouts, and when that is the case, I want every minute to count! But with more frequent exercise, I need something that is "intermediate" to mix in with the intense.

Gin--Cardio Burn is one of the FIRMS that was released just before Anna Benson left. GT had already come on board, but they were still using the mansion set. Tamela Hastie is the instructor. It's higher cardio-intensity than a lot of their workouts. Still not as tough as original #1 & 2 though.

The weather here right now is about 75 to 80 degrees. That's really pleasant for daily activities, but a little warm for a workout. I make sure to have at least 2 fans blowing DIRECTLY on me when I work out! We generally say that the weather here is 85 degrees year round, which is pretty true. Right now it's raining a lot and is cooler--more like 75-80. When the rains stop in December, then the temperature can spike up to 95. But we don't have 4 seasons like the US.

And yes, I have done several Cathe workouts . . . KPC, B&G, LM, BM2--I've actually done all those at least twice because they were the easiest to find in my unpacking. :) I've now got all of them back out on the shelf, so as soon as my room is clear, I'll be back to normal.

Hello.

Whew!! Today has been busy! I started by typing an evaluation for one of my kiddos. I did the step portion of SJP and all of SB, showered, and ate lunch with my mom. Then we went to Target and Babies and Beyond. As soon as I got home, I had to go with DH to an opening which had lots of yummy food and tons of wine and beer (not that I could have any---I just ate extra to make up for it!!). I have now crashed on the couch and plan on watching the Olympics for the rest of the night.

Laura...We have had some lower than average temps here. It has been so nice to have 75-85 degree weather the last few days versus the 100s we had last week. This has been a good summer to be pregnant b/c it has been so much cooler! I don't think it will last much longer, but I am going to enjoy it while it lasts! I hope those fans are keeping you cool! I have to turn the air way down to stay cool. I saw your post about foam rollers. I agree, they are wonderful!!

I hope everyone has had a great day!

Yes, Lara, one thing I definitely do NOT miss is August weather in TX and AR. Over 100 degrees and so muggy you can cut it with a knife!

As a PT, I bet you know lots of good uses for a foam roller. :)

BTW girls, I've finally got some pictures up on MyCatheSpace. They're of my garden. I'm going to post some more of general Uganda pictures so you can see what it looks like where I live. But it is SO SLOW uploading the pictures, so I'm going to do it bit by bit.

Hello.

I took a rest day today. I had not really planned to, but I needed to do some more organizing! Tomorrow is my sister's birthday, so if the baby comes, she will share a b-day with her aunt! My sister won't be able to be here for my baby shower on Saturday :(, but she and her new DH are going to drive down and stay for a week around the 23rd :D. Hopefully, the baby will be here by then!! I really wish my sister lived here again!!

Laura...Yes, this is the best August (weather-wise) that we have had in a LONG time!! I am just going to keep enjoying it! I will have to check out your pics of your garden. I would also love to see your pictures of Uganda. I need to figure out how to get pictures up! I want DH to show me, but he is always so busy lately.

Gin...How is the new job??

Have a great night!!

Wow!

Laura...I just had to come back and tell you how gorgeous your garden is !! I would want to stay outside all day if I had that scenery to enjoy! Your kiddos are adorable, too :) Thanks for sharing your pics! I look forward to seeing more.

Hi PYGFO buddies. Again, I apologize for being so hit and miss on this check-in. Last week we were on vacation and this week we are helping with Bible school at church, so I don't have much time to spare.

Laura, I'm going to have to go search for your garden pictures. My gardening ablility is pitiful. I love gardens, but just don't enjoy the work it involves.

Lara, oh, it's getting close, isn't it! Sounds like you are doing a great job with your workouts.

Gin, you have a new job?

Hey to the rest of you PYGFOers out there. I've been getting up early to squeeze a CTX workout in before work this week. I didn't sleep well last night and couldn't face a workout this morning. I'll try to fit one in later, before we head to church. Have a great week, friends.

Hi Robin!!
It is good to hear from you!! Sorry about the lack of sleep! I haven't been getting much lately either. I doubt that will change for awhile. Where did you vacation last week? WTG on fitting in CTX in the mornings. I have CTX, but always forget that I have it. I need to pull that one out again...it will feel new to me!

I am going to try for both cardio and weights today. I may need a nap, too. Friday and Saturday are going to be a little hectic, so I hope I can fit something in!

Hope you all are having a great day!

Hi ladies! Sorry to have been AWOL for so long! I hope you are all doing well.

Lara - Keep us updated!!! My sister n' law just had her 3rd baby and my other sister n' law is getting ready to have her second. August must be a busy time for babies! ;)

Gin - I wish we could have all been at the same RT! I'm glad I got to see you in July though. :)

Laura - Hope the unpacking is going well! I'm horrible at unpacking. I still have my bags full from the RT. I'm such a procrastinator!

Hi Robin! Hope your vacation went well. :)

Not sure what workout to do tonight. I really need to up the cardio, so maybe I'll give Strike zone a try?

Lara--Glad for a cooler than usual August for you. I was glad that my DD was due in EARLY August back in '04!

Robin--So glad to see you on this check in. We miss you, but I sure understand about being busy!

Liann--Thanks for the well-wishes in my unpacking. It is a chore! I can say that as of 2 days ago I have at least UNPACKED all the boxes from the container and the trunks that we brought on the plane. And MOST of that has actually been put away. However, there are still a few piles laying here and there. OK--a huge pile at the foot of my bed. But I was actually able to work out in my room today. Woo hoo! Of course, the power had to be off, so I still had to use fans without AC, but it was back in MY room. :) There is a big light at the end of the unpacking tunnel!!

I've had lots of help on my garden, though DH and I have put in lots of hours ourselves, too. The guy who put it in for us was a British landscape architect, so we had the very best. We also have a guy who does the weeding and basic maintenance on it for us. So I just get to do the fun parts--pruning, putting in new plants, etc. And yes, I do love to spend my time there. I also have a screened in veranda off of my living room that looks out into the garden, so I can enjoy the view from inside, too. ;)

We do make sacrifices to live overseas, but there are perks, too.

Laura

I just typed a long post and then DH moved the motum and I lost my internet connection---and my post:mad: I will try again.

I ended up doing LIC with the bonus cardio today. It is not really what I had planned, but it was all I had the energy for today.

We have our first open house tomorrow for DD-to-be's daycare. I am a little nervous about it. We have heard lots of wonderful things about her daycare, but I still worry. She is enrolled 3 days each week from 830-230. My mom will keep her 2 days a week, and DH's mom will probably keep her 1 day each week. So, I guess the most she will be there is 2-3 days each week once she is 6 weeks old (or whenever I go back to work). I hope it goes well.
After that, I am going to luch with some friends that are not able to attend my shower on Saturday. Then, DH and I are going to a ladies house to TRY to pick out custom bedding. It might be kind of hard to do since we don't really have a nursery or colors yet. At least we have the co-sleeper set up!!

Liann...Wow, lots of babies in your family right now! There are lots of August birthday's in our family already. I guess we will add one more! Another one here that is a total procrastinator about unpacking. I still have my MIL's big suitcase that I took on the plane to my sister's wedding. I took her bag b/c it is bigger than mine and I didn't want to be charged for another bag!!

Laura...I know you are glad to be back in your workout room! I hope you are staying cool. Your veranda sounds very nice, too! I am sure it is a very peacful place to be.

I am off to watch swimming and gymnastics.

PYGFO Check-in

PYGFO Sisters:

I am still with y’all! I have been working late at night, but I have been reading during my breaks. It is good to see everyone posting again. Hugs to Laura, Gin, Lara, Robin, Liann, and any other PYGFO sisters who check-in. I hope to return this weekend for personals. Did y’all watch the new STS video clips on YouTube? Wow! I love the music, and I am inspired to start training for STS. Have a delightful Friday!

Blessings,
Heather B.

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV).

MORE You Tube clips? Hurray, hurray. I hadn't seen that. Have to go check them out.:p

So good to see you Heather! Don't work too hard, girl.

Hello.

No workout today. I was just too busy. I am hoping to get up early tomorrow so I can at least walk on the TM before getting ready for my shower. We'll see.

Heather...good to see you! I am excited about STS after seeing the clips! I don't know how I will ever do all of those push-ups! Especially since I have been doing knee push-ups only for the past few months. I can't wait to see more!

Hi Laura!!

Gin...Are you out there? I am curious about your new job! I hope it is going well.

Have a great night!

B&G is my workout today.

Next week I'm going to start a CTX rotation and really use all 6 workouts as they were designed to be used. Ever since I sprained my wrist back on Memorial Day weekend, I've had to be really careful with upper body work. I'm finally pain-free, but I'm still being very careful. I feel like it has taken the intensity of my workouts down several notches, since all weight work, even legs, hinges on what I can lift with my arms. I figure that the CTX rotation with just one body part per day for about 10 minutes will give my wrist short little bursts of activity that will prepare it for longer, more intense upper body workouts. Right now I know that I could not do a whole upper body workout, such as the gym styles, for example. But I'm just happy to be able to use weights at all. Back when it first happened, I couldn't even fasten my seatbelt (remember, Gin?!). I've been very cautious and careful, not wanting to rush ahead and reinjure myself. I've used ice and heat and rest. Slowly it has healed. I don't want to undo what I've been so patient for, so I'm still going to be very careful. But I'm ready to dig in again!

Hope your weekend is good. We have a cookout/b-day party this afternoon for a co-worker.

Laura

Wow! I missed a few days of checking in and you guys had a party in my absense!!:p Sorry I have not had much time to post with work, etc. DS21 left to go back to school yesterday. He was very ready, but mom was sad.:(

Today is a rest day and I did Baron Baptiste's Level 1 yoga.
Started my new Kindergarten asst. job this week with new staff training. Next week is more mtgs and setting up the room and the kids start Aug 25. We are leaving in a minute to help ds and dil move into their new apt. It's an 1 and 1/2 hour drive from here. Heather~ I'll wave your way as I drive by!:)

Laura~Love the pics of you beautiful garden!

Lara~How was the baby shower? Enjoy your sister's visit. And how was the Open House for dd's day care. That is great that both grandmothers will be able to keep her some!

Robin~You are one busy lady helping out with VBS after work! I'm sure your church appreciated your hard work.

Liann~Did you enjoy the "surprise" with Cathe on Sat night? Are there clips of it on youtube? I haven't seen any clips for the Aug. Trip.

Heather~Hope you are able to relax and rest a little! I love the STS clips. I really need to get with the program on my 1rm though. I haven't done a thing!

Have a great day!:D

Hi!

I am back from my shower. It was really nice. There was a great turnout--we were really lucky to get lots of good baby presents!! My hostesses did such a wonderful job! We can barely get in our kitchen b/c of all the gifts. Now, DH and I have a lot more organizing to do!! I don't think it will all get done b/f she arrives!

I haven't worked out in 2 days. I am feeling a bit lazy, but there has been so much going on lately! Tomorrow I plan to make up for it!!

Laura...I may do B&G tomorrow--I love that one! It is good that you have taken your time and let your wrist heal. I hope your wrist responds well to CTX. Have you done any wrist curls (using light weight)? That might really help you right now. Keep up on your ice if you feel any soreness (I am sure you already know all of this):)

Gin...Sorry about DS leaving for school:( It sounds like you have a busy day helping your other DS move. The open house went well. We didn't really stay very long since we didn't actually have a child with us. I am sure we will have more questions for them once she arrives. Everyone seemed really nice, and we ran into several friends that also have their kids enrolled there. I am very lucky to have both grandmothers so close by! I know they will be a tremendous help!! Now, if I could only get my sister back here!!

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend.
