Push Ups

Just have to say I'm getting a kick out of reading this thread!!!! Especially as Janice stepped in and yep here's confirmation. I'm an A prior to nursing and now I've quadrupled in chest size (now nursing) and pushups are lots easier. (teee-heee) :D :D :D :D

Seriously, you just got to keep doing them. I like to do 3 sets of 40's about 4 days a week, usually with upper body workout, although sometimes if I've increased in weight (lifting weights) I'm just too pooped and do a little less. I recommend if you can do eight, try to do a few sets of eight, it will get easier and you'll be so proud of yourself!!!!!

Hey Annette...

Just when I think you've posted THE funniest thing ever, you go and top yourself. Shoulder blades. I am ROFL, girlfriend!!!

And hey, hang in there -- one of the (few) pleasant surprises of my mid-40's (a/k/a the onset of peri-something or other) has been the development of a mild case of hooters. Wahoo!!!!!

Hey Briee...

Just want to point out to you my post to Aquajock, above --

Don't get TOO attached to those magnificent nursing tools you now have, because they're likely to vanish once nursing goes away. BUT take heart -- they'll be back (maybe not AS big, but back, nonetheless) in your mid-to-late 40's!! :)

RE: Aw, shucks folks . . .

Here I am, and YES I did do 75 one time just to see how many I could do without stopping. I started out only being able to do 10. And the key is to just do them. They are not as scary as you may think.

That should be my challenge when I turn 53 (Nov. 11 of this year)- to see how many push ups I can do. Then I'll follow it up with how much birthday cake I can eat. ;-)

RE: Aw, shucks folks . . .

Hi Honeybunch,

That is fantastic ! Did you do the 75 push ups slowly or quite quickly ?

Anna

RE: Hey Briee...

I'll vouch for that Kathy. Both my mother and I went from C cups to D cups in our forties. I'm not happy about it, but I guess there are worse things that could get big!! I couldn't do a single full floor push-up at either size, but after reading this thread, I am absolutely determined to do it by working up to one push-up at a time!
Hoping nothing else grows on me,
Nancy

RE: Quit braggin', you guys . . .

I went from an A cup to an A-minus cup this year, and I'm 41!

If laughter is important for good health then I'm really getting in shape this morning. Keep this thread going!!!!

Thanks Kathy, I will look forward to loosing them (and good riddens, they get in the way!!!), but (and I had to think of Arnold S saying) "They'll be Back" right?

Aquajock, you are a scream. I'll be happy if I go to A- as it makes cardio work much easier without all that bouncing around. (don't mind if I have to go down further for pushups :D :D :D)

RE: Aw, shucks folks . . .

Just had to post up here too. YOU are our hero!!! 75 pushups and turning 53 in November. You have got to be the coolest, fittest grandma in history and we WILL look for you when your 75 in that Tae bo infomertial. I have no doubts that you can do it!!! You are an inspiration to all of us!!!!

RE: Sports bras be damned . . .

. . . I'm set with a couple of Post-It Notes during my home workouts.

Hubby, bless him, has never indicated any disappointment that I would never - and I mean NEVER - be hired to dance at the Bada Bing. As long as we leave the subject of the size of his johnson out of the conversation, marital bliss continues . . .

Annette,
I was going to try to be funny and respond to your first post about being an A-, but you're last post put me under the table!
I was a B, nursed five kids, am now 46, and probably less than an A-. I'm so flat, when I flex, my boobs completely disappear.(Those massive pec muscles underneath!):7

RE: Sports bras be damned . . .

I am so happy I read this thread! I am 5'8" and have freakishly long arms and torso. I can maybe to 10 straight legged push-ups before I drop to my knees. I have been working on push-ups for 7 years now and they are still hard. It is nice to know that my arm length may have something to do with this. I am not a wimp after all!

RE: Aw, shucks folks . . .

I don't think I did them quickly....and I'm sure it got slower as the number got higher.

RE: Sports bras be damned . . .

ROTF LOL ROTF LOL ROTF LOL. I do believe that when I need to be cheered up I will just enter AQUAJOCK into the search and I'll be set for the day. Can't wait to go back to the "post-it note" physique. Perhaps a "post-it note" rotation???

RE: Sports bras be damned . . .

Ok, Ok, I might have short arms and big boobies, BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I weigh 140 at 5'1"!!!!!!!!! Ok, does THAT make it harder????:):) Oh, and I really SMASH my boobs into the floor.?

Anyone??

Oh, Annette...what I wouldn't give for your shoulder blades!!!LOL!!

RE: Sports bras be damned . . .

We have to brag :-gloat because it gives us something to feel better about while we are suffering the torture of our big, stiff, painful sportsbras :-( that feel like metal and leave red welts under our arms!!! Ouch! x( Bet those post-it notes feel pretty damn good.
