Pure Strength

I have been thinking about Pure Strength after reading posts on another forum saying that the pace is slower, the reps are fewer and in general a more relaxed workout then the endurance workouts. Any opinions? Am I just looking for an excuse to buy another Cathe workout while I wait for the new ones. Appreciate any feedback.

I was just reading the exact same thing on VF! Is that where you saw it? I'm wondering if I should get it now. It sounds good. As a few posters said the workout is "you're in, you're out, quick, efficient and effective".....

I have PS and rotate them regularly (just did them last week). Sometimes I'll double up the upper body by leaving out one cooldown and one warmup. It is slower paced -- Cathe incorporates some rest periods. This allows you to go heavier than the faster-paced endurance workouts. Some people say the Gym Styles are an updated version -- I don't have them so can't say myself. (The hair/clothing sytles are older if that's a concern -- check out the previews). Deb

Well, I just ordered Pure Strength, so I hope it's a good one. Actually, I'm sure it will be--I've got all but a couple of Cathe's DVDs now.

It looks like it's a set of different workouts for a 3-day split like Slow and Heavy or Gym Styles. Can anyone confirm that?

Yes it is a 3 day split. I have had it on VHS for a long time but just never reach for it. Also I no longer have a VCR. It is Back Biceps & Abs, Legs & Abs, Chest Shoulders Triceps. I am looking forward to getting this on DVD. I just wanted to add that I like the idea of longer rests allowing you to go heavier and a more relaxed pace. Also I like "straightforward" strength work.

I just dusted this one off (literally!) and re-previewed the back/biceps/abs workout in view of doing it today. I agree that the pace is better than in some of Cathe's more recent, 'no-time-for-down-time' hurry, hurry workouts. It definitely lends itself to heavier lifting, and I like Cathe's demeanor in it as well, with her encouraging us to lift heavy, and sometimes even go at our own pace.
