Pure Strength - Legs and Abs

I got the PS series last week and just did legs / abs for the first time. My legs feel like jello. I don't have a body bar so I substituted my otherwise useless firm sculpting stick and added 5 pound ankle weights. I had no idea what to expect from this, and becasue of that I'm not sure what I thought of this workout. What do you all think of it?

I did this workout for the second time today. The first time I did it was a while ago, so I didn't remember it.

I only used 2.5# ankle weights for the floor work, but I felt it pretty good. I should have used more for the outer thigh portion. I also didn't go heavy enough with my barbell during the squats and such, but will know better next time. Overall, I felt like it worked my legs good. I did it after a 3 mile run and it wasn't too much.

The only thing I don't love about this workout is the warmup - I substitute the Pyramid Lower warmup. Other than that, it's thorough and the form tips are great. I go waaaay lighter than Cathe and Crew on the floor leg work - a 2 or 2.5# ankle weight is PLENTY for me.

PS is my favorite leg workout. I like each of the exercises done. I especially like how the step-ups are done slow with a short break in between sets. This allows you to go really heavy if you want.
I don't have a body bar. So, for the floorwork I've used an ankle weight.
I just received three xring's (each has diff. resistance) I might incorporate those.

I love this whole series! PS Legs gives the legs a wonderful workout - the sit and stand squats are killers!!!!! When Cathe's legs start the 'quiver' I think to myself, "I've been quivering since the second rep!!" I have these on VHS and would really love to have them on DVD.

This is my favorite leg workout too. You can really go heavy, and it works every muscle thoroughly.

This is a great workout Lorrie. You can go as heavy as you want or even light for Freestyle!! I did the light Freestyle version today just adding on a few more reps. I do the floorwork with my Firm 8lb body bar that I don't use much. I also think the Upper body PS workouts are also a must....:)...Carole

Wow! I feel much better after reading these posts! I love PS Legs and have done it many many many times and I FINALLY made it up the 15 lb body bar and that was with a BREAK in between the Outer Thigh section! I haven't done it in about a month though and I am SURE the 15 lbs would be too heavy... I won't feel bad going back down to my 9 lb bar now!

I love it, Lorrie. I do not use any weight for the floor work, and I'm thoroughly challenged by it. The best is the hamstring raise on the box. It does wonders for my lower back.
