Pure Strength and Gym Style?

If I have Gym style series do I need the Pure Strength series? I have all of the other muscle building workouts except this one.

I love the gym styles. they are great workouts. I got some very nice results with them. I would say they are an updated version of pure strength. I hardly ever do PS series now thatI have gym styles.
I know this didn't help, but I would get the Gyms Styles I do not think you would regeret it!

I asked the same question a couple of months ago, and i decided to splurge and buy Pure Strength just for variety. Besides the dated music and background, etc., I like the exercises and found it a nice addition to my collection. I say try them.

I agree with Adrienne. I have both, and though I use GS more, PS is great for variety.

I am a PS junkie. I've been doing it for months now. I have and love GS, but I like to do cardio with all my weight training workouts and since PS workouts are shorter (especially the upper body workouts which are 38 mins and 42 mins each) I can add cardio easily if I do the cardio first and skip the warm-up of the PS workouts. Also after doing GS these are going to be easier (not easy, easier), but in most exercises I lift heavier than Cathe and I'll have to thank GS for that. The set and the hairdos are definitely outdated, but if you can get over that you'll see that this is pure weight training (no bands or anything like that). Even for the floorwork in SL&A Cathe uses a 15lbs bodybar (I use a 15 lbs dumbbell for inner thighs and 10lbs ankle weights for outer thighs). When I started replacing my VHS to DVDs the first Cathe DVD I got was PS. I don't know if you need PS (needing and wanting are two different things), but it is definitely a nice addition to a Cathe collection.

Thanks ladies. Did/do you guys see goog results from this series; meaning definition and of course strength? I just finished doing 7 weeks of Gym Style series and am really happy with the results. I have deinition in my arms for the first time:7 . I know everyone's body responds differently but do you think PS will give me the same results? Or, have you seen the same results using PS that you did with GS?

I'm not sure your results will necessarily be much different to be honest. However, since the Pure Strength workouts are shorter, I tend to pair them with the same body part from another workout for a one-body-part-per-day workout. My favorite is pairing PS with either CTX or Muscle Max, ie. Pure Strength Chest + Muscle Max Chest + a Timesaver Cardio.

I use them both.

They have different exercises and the gymstyles use the bands too.

Many of the Cathe rotations I like use the P/S Series. I sub the gymstyles for slow and heavy, which I don't have.

I like the pre-mixes on Gymstyles and also how they are chaptered. If I'm just kind of doing my own thing and mixing and matching,I can use the gym styles for extra work for a particular body part.

If you only wanted one series I'd say get the gym styles because of the chapters and pre-mixes.

The series used to have an intermediate/advanced rating, but after Gym Style everything else seems intermediate. I think weight training workouts can be used by almost any fitness level by using more or less weight than what's used in the workout. I've done PS:SL&A with a 60lbs barbell (right now I'm using 50lbs) and that has been pretty much my choice for weight training so far this year. I have definition in my legs and my arms. PS is definitely not as tough as GS, but it is tough if you do it with a challenging weight and since the workouts are shorter it's easier to add some short cardios which always help with definition.

I agree, I use PS for when I want to go real heavy.
I had PS legs for a long time and just recently got the two upper-body tapes for next to nothing. I really like how I can go heavier with them. As for results, I don't know yet, but I do get some great DOMS. Just tailor them to fit ur needs.

Peace!

I agree with Adrienne. I have both Gym Styles & PS I like the variety of both and that they both offer different exercises and sequencing. PS is very well paced for heaving up so could make it more challenging. It all depends how much weight you use for the exercises.

I'm late to the party but I have all of Cathe's stuff and the PS Series holds a special place in my heart. They are wonderful workouts!! You will love them.
