I find the Pure Barre workouts challenging. I almost didn't buy the second two DVDs because the set was so horrible in the first DVD-- Carrie was wearing a black outfit against a black background. Sheesh, I could barely see what she was doing. I am no ballerina and I need all the visual help I can get.
The first DVD Pure Barre produced is still my favorite so far (I wish she would remaster it or something), but the other two DVDs are excellent workouts for sure (I'm glad I purchased them). Carrie can definitely put out tough workouts! As Cathe would say she can sure get my legs "shaking like a chihuahua"--especially in Pershing 2!
Right now I just started to do another round of STS so I'm not sure how I'm going to fit my barre workouts in. I may be doing mostly flexibility type moves on the barre for a while, but I'll work them in even if they are short routines. I certainly don't want to loose the benefits I've gained from using it in the last few months.
Trudie Styler is coming out with a ballet/tone type DVD in March (barre)--it looks interesting and I'll probably buy it (for some really odd reason I found I really like her Yoga DVD which is odd (I find it calming) because I usually prefer Ashtanga type Yoga practices).
PS. If anyone does have recommendations for short barre routines (less than 30 minutes) that I can use as add-ons please let me know. (Two that I can think of right off the bat are Physique 57 express and Fluidity hips and thighs, but I can think of others.)
PPS. Heather please let me know how you like the Essentrics DVDs. I was considering it but wasn't sure how much barre work was in it and/or if it was really good. I have one season of Classical Stretch which I sometimes use and enjoy as an add-on but out of all the discs only one workout even uses a barre.
