Puppies and log lovers My pug puppy got spayed

yes, yesterday, I took Mollie to the Aspca hospital, she is only 5 months but they are into sterilizing in early stage,,, after bringing her from the hospital, she slept till midnite,,, she woke me up with her cry,, and she gave me this look, I dont lie to you, so expresive: WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MEEEEEEE????
I felt so sorry for her and just conforted her, I saw her booboo,,, :-( My question is: you dog lovers,,, have you noticed the outcome of spaying a female dog? what can I expect? and please talk about your dogs when they were sterilize. Love to hear doggy stories :-9

What do you mean by outcome?

Kiana was spayed at 5 and she had a hard recovery. She didn't want to get out of her crate for about a week or so. Kept her isolated and on crate rest.

Bear (yes female <G>) was spayed by 1 and had an easier recovery. Needed a cone not to chew on stitches.

Keep her calm and on leash walks until she is feeling better.

.. don't worry she will be fine. Spaying is really easier at a younger age. My females I have had spayed all did great .. I usually like them to have one heat cycle b-4 spaying (I worked for a vet for a while .. and that is just what he always reccommended) .. but everyone except the female I have now was spayed young.

Let me tell you .. my female French Mastiff has gone through 2 heat cycles .. and she is PITTIFUL during them. If anyone did not believe in PMS all they have to do is watch my poor little Tootsie go thru a heat .. she cramps .. and moans in pain .. and ILL .. OMG ..she HATES the male when she is in heat ... the house is literally a madhouse for almost 4 weeks ..

I want puppies from her ..so it is going to be the next heat or nothing .. we purposley did not want to bread her yet b/c the male is SO MUCH bigger than her . I was scared he would hurt her .. but I can't take another heat cycle .. LOL .. no sleep for anyone for 4 weeks ..

so spaying releives ALL that ... so just think of it as you saved her from YEARS of PMS'ing .. LOL

She will be fine .. the first few nights will be tough .. then the stitches will start itching and she will try to chew them .. so watch out for that .. after the stitches come out .. she will be spry as ever!! and probably if she could she would thank you!!!

Hang in there .. funny how dogs expressions can make us feel so bad!! I know mine can look at me so expressionable .. I swear I can tell what they are thinking .. LOL .. hang in there ..

Is she old enough to be bred? OFA'd, etc.? You can always do some kind of AI breeding if you think the male will hurt her, etc. But I'd be more concerned that they have all their health tests, etc. done before breeding than anything else.

Awwww! I remember when my Bisquit got spayed. She was kind of pitiful that first day. After that she was fine. Other than that she plumped up- she's not fat just plump!! I am sure your little girl will do just fine.

Hi Norma,

You baby will be fine. When I had Meiko spayed, she was a bit out of it for a day or two. NOT her typical behavior. She is SOOOO hyper! After a couple of days, she was back to her old self! Crazy as ever.:p

Don't worry...everything will be OK.

OH yeah .. these two are my pedigree babies .. Dogue de Bordeaux .. shots - hip testing everything ... the male came from Park Avenue Bordeaux's and the female from Puppy Creek Kennels .. spent an enormous amount on them just b/c I love the breed ..

the male is about 130 pounds the female about 90 - 100 pounds .. they don't mature until 2 years of age .. the male is 4 and the female is abut 1 1/2 years .. that is why I wanted to wait .. the males head is SO much larger than the female .. and for sure it will have to be a monitored pregnancy and this breed usually has to deliver by C-section b/c the heads are so large ..

I don't think I could take another heat b/c the male is .. let's say "frustrated" .. LOL .. and he looses his mind when she is in heat (like most men) .. the house is insane when she comes in .. so we are breeding her next heat or going to forget it .. LOL!!!
 
Well, Max is a male, but he was just fine. I was told neutering would calm him down. If that's true I can't even imagine my life if the little guy still had his.....ummm.....equipment! :eek:

I just neutered my intact male and lordy lordy it's going to be heaven now!! I have an intact female Vizsla and can empathize!!! The SCREAMING, WHINING.....

When I got my Molli spayed I felt terrible. She was 1 1/2 yrs old. We adopted her from the local shelter. But after a couple of days she was doing great. The only problem I had with her was her constant licking at the stitches. She passed away last year ;( . When we got our girl Maisi she was already spayed and she was only 8 weeks old. We adopted her from a shelter too. So that was very easy. I had never heard of them doing it so young but she is fine. :) Good luck and take good care of her!!
