pull ups/chin ups

Is there a big difference between these 2 exercises? They work the same muscle groups right? I find pull ups to be so much easier than chin ups. Chin ups really bother my wrists. I was going to maybe substitute chin up sections with pull ups unless chin ups are much better. Anyone know?

the only difference between the two are hand position which causes the biceps to work just a little bit harder in chinups (palms towards you) Both will work you pretty much the same so if you prefer one way over the other then choice whichever one you like.

Oddly enough, I can do 3 solid chin-ups, but I'm still trying to do one pull up (I'm currently 3/4 of the way there).

My limitation is not due to pain or anything ~ I feel good doing both ~ so I suspect there is a difference in how they are performed that goes beyond hand grip.

i did a search and only found the difference to be hand grip but i would like to know if its more a biomechanic thing as to why one way is easier than the other.

Chinups are also much easier for me. I think because with chinups you're using your back and biceps whereas in pullups you're using your back.
