PUB/LPB without the stability ball ?

I've been doing them without it (I just don't have anywhere to store one right now) and have been getting plenty sore doing the modifications! :7

Anna:

I never use the stability ball either and they are both tough workouts without it.

I am sure they add an extra dimension, as those who use it will tell you, but my opinion is that it may not be useful to use the ball for some of the leg floorwork in PLB if it takes you all your energy just trying to stay balanced...the point is, that may do wonders for your core, etc, etc, but the exercise is supposed to be targetting the hamstrings or glutes, for example, so if you are not able to focus on those target muscles because all your effort and concentration goes into managing the darn ball, then you are not accomplishing what the exercise is supposed to accomplish. That, for me, is not what we call "pedagogically appropriate" in Spanish teacher speak (which is what I am). (I don't know what the appropriate term is in fitness-speak, but the concept remains the same)

So, I perform these lower body exercises more in the manner in which they are performed in Pure Strength legs tape, which targets the lower body muscles in isolation beautifully, in my opinion.

And for PUB core section, the pike varations done by Brenda are fine for me, I just hold them longer sometimes or repeat sections to really challenge myself. And for the rest of the exercises, the bench and a dumbell or empty hands do just as well.

My ball gets used by my 6 year old who loves to roll around on it all the time, and in fact, she must be stronger than me because she can nearly do those full inverted pikes and I'm nowhere near it, (actually I refuse to do them becuase I will fall on my face and my glasses will get broken and cut my face, necessitating cosmetic surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget it! ) I prefer to watch my daughter do her pikes, Catheite in training she is!! ;)

So, if you want to do these videos without the ball, just go ahead....

I just did PUB last night for the first time. The stability ball part is for the ab section at the end. I have a stability ball still in the box and wanted to try the work out with out it. Like Muscle Endurance, you can easily do the excercises with out it (medicine ball) and I am thinking of returning the ball. The only complaint I have is that the camera was not on the gal who was doing the modification so I had to fast forward to when you could see her then rewind the tape to begin the set.
