PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION: JULY "FIREWALKS"

I kicked off July with the Lower Impact premix from Crossfire. It was really good, I think I'm going to try the full workout at some point but gotta preserve the knees. I already had DOMS from yesterday's AT and abs, and then after CF workout I went outside and did almost 3 hrs of yard cleanup from Friday's storms. So, I'm pretty darn sure I'm going to be feeing every muscle tomorrow!!

Nice weekend here. I did a wxf disc 8. I'll be doing more cathe in July, haven't got new workouts yet. Good to hear your experiences so far. Post storm Yard work x 3 hours is a butt kickin' workout.

I did an AT premix today and have previewed TTM. Stacy, how did you like it? Are you done with the LIS rotation? Both of the new ones look good to me so far. I've got some plans for my July rotation and eating. I'll let you know my results after I've stuck to it for a few weeks. Anyone have plans for the 4th? Michelle are you still working on getting your workout groove back? Deanna, you've got a nice collection of dvds going~

Today is a rest day. My body just feels tired.

FnV, I'm not really done with the LIS rotation, more just doing my own thing, but still the majority of my workouts are pretty much the same as what I was doing in the actual rotation anyways minus the STS upper body days that were in the combo rotation. I feel the LIS workouts really have alot of shoulder work and even some upper body with the pushups and isometric upper body stuff with the burpees. I'm thinking of adding in one day of total upper body or just adding in a bicep/tricep day and/or a back/chest day.

I really liked TTM, I did the original workout, not a premix. I was able to do 95% of it. I skipped the second sets on a few of the HIIT exercises, and modified a few moves here and there but overall I did well and my knees felt pretty good. I started the ab segment but was too drained so I'll do that another day, thinking of doing the ab work on an upper body day since the ab workouts in both TTM and CF have some upper body focus.

Next time I do CF I'll do the original workout but I'm thinking I'll have to modify that one alot. It was my first time using my blue firewalker band as well, I kept thinking "is this thing broken b/c it just doesnt give!" tough stuff!
 
Hey Stacy, I liked TTM also. I did the Extreme premix in order to do all the tabatas. I modified in intensity (pace here and there, stuff like that) It seemed like there was a lot of shoulder work in TTM also (the fitness tabata and the compound leg). Anyway, I likey it pretty well. : ) I'm thinking I can use versions of these workouts for quickies in the morning and also the shorter pm will alleviate some of the impact issues.

So this is what I did today--> bike ride warm up, TTM step, step tabata, 30/20 Hiit, then Back from BB TS and finally abs from Weider x factor. I skipped Sun. I watched Wimbledon and Pride and Prejudice this past weekend, the version Susan suggested, so I thought of her as I watched. I'm also thumbing thru wheat belly again.
Anyone else working out? How's the clean eating? I'm stocked up on veggies~ : )
 
Hi FnV, good job on the workouts!

I have to admit, I've been a slug and kinda down on myself lately. I went to a neighborhood party the other day and there I am surrounded by fit looking women, with nice clothes, hair looking good, nails done. And, I'm feeling like a short, flabby, frumpy mess. I feel like why workout like I do and I still have so much body fat that you cant even tell. I know it's heart healthy and all that crap, but for once I'd just like to feel comfortable in my skin and proud of how I look. I've been stressed lately too with some abnormal periods, wondering...hmmm, is this just perimenopause or do I need to buy a pregnancy test. I'm not ready to face either one right now, especially the latter, so I'm just waiting it out a bit, but it's really stressful. And, when I'm stressed, I do alot of emotional eating. I know things will change and this feeling wont last forever, but I'm just a bit down right now.

Keep up the workouts and the clean eating talk b/c it does help to get me out of my slump!

I'm going to workout tomorrow even if I have to drag myself down to my workout room!
 
Stacy, I didn't want to workout either that is why I cued up Cathe but started out by going for a bike ride. Listening to some music and pedaling helped me get motivated enough to do my late afternoon workout. Good luck tomorrow, and don't forget your water! : )
 
Wow Stacey lol I know exactly what u mean! Sorry to butt in but you just described me how I feel! I remember once in my life I did think I was comfortable most days but still had days I felt that way. Now I never seem to feel Comfortable in my Skin. I know how to lose.. I did it once. But now I work my butt off. Feeling like my body is braking down but I don't even look like I exercise now.! So frustrating. Hate I let the weight creep back. I go to this forum for motivation for sure lol.
 
BB TS workout 1 (20 min of step from SJP I think) plus Chest and Tri followed by some chest and abs from Barry's Boot Camp. I'll take dance tonight plus maybe a run prior to dance. The scale loves it when I do workouts in the evening.

I'm still reading Amen's books, looking at my supplements (already helpful) and looking at the wheat/gluten thing, eating plants, staying hydrated.

Stacy, I can relate to most everything you said, except pg (those kits are cheap and accurate, pick one up!). Sometimes I feel better if I just get outside and move.

I'm still creating habit energy around my workouts- thinking about what not to plan since I will procrastinate my day away. Also thinking about what I like to do and am likely to complete in a timely manner.

Adding my evening-- walked 4 K and dance class this eve, brewing a bedtime tea and had a little dark chocolate, passed on red wine.

Slide glide fest for me- did the SG cardio this morn and tacked on the 4 min SG tabata from one of the new ones. Was fun, good. I actually was anxious to workout and it wasn't even 8 am. I haven't felt that way very often lately so that was exciting.

Water and veggies, check, skip the wheat, check, workout, check. I need to include some act of loving kindness for myself. That is actually the hardest thing to do.

Get moving ladies, even if it is a walk. : )
 
Woke up yesterday with a splitting headache, took Advil before work which made me nauseated, then tripped and spilled coffee on myself on my way out to the car!! Never did get a workout in yesterday but I am feeling better today. I'm working late so we'll see how I feel when I get home. Working all weekend too. Part of me just wants to chuck the workouts altogether until next week. I did schedule a doctor's appt next week to figure out what's up. I did have a healthy salad and grilled salmon for dinner last night.

My goal today is to drink my water!

I did BB TS w.o #3 (step and Bi and core) this morning and this eve I did a bootcamp class at the rec center- a lot of jump rope and pushups then I tacked on a walk while I waited for dd. Usually scale loves late eve workouts but I came home and ate too many servings of nuts, we'll see. Other than that, I got my H2O and my plants in, no wheat.
Stacy, I've been focusing on my nutrition a lot the past few weeks and have started to feel better and I'm starting to be able to workout with more enthusiasm. I'm lurking on the weigh loss challenge 6 month check in too. I need to get some salmon, good idea.
Deanna, Michelle, are you out there? Hope all is well with each of you.
 
FnV...I'm glad you're still checking in with me (no peer pressure here!) despite I havent had much to report! I got my water in the other day as planned. I still havent had time for a workout but overall my energy level feels better for now. I really think I'm going thru some perimenopausal/hormonal crapola. I want to get my thyroid checked too. My fatigue and recent migraines are very out of the norm for me and I'm getting sick of it!

I need to go shopping for some more veggies and lean protein, I feel so much better when I eat clean.

I'm going to try for a short workout this weekend, but I'm working all weekend so we'll see how it goes.

OK, that's it, no more hanging out with my friends! I was THIS CLOSE to reporting a 4 pound weight loss over the past two weeks but two eves in a row of hanging with buds, eating late at night and having a few drinks set me back. Seriously, I think my new rule will be no parties for me unless we are drinking mineral water, wheat grass and eating plain broccoli! Argh! D*** IT!

New week...I've been doing BB TS for body parts and TTM/CF/LIS/BB for met focused cardio- I will keep that up. I'll keep doing no grains and continue with other types of clean eating. I'm also looking at the types of brain health supplements that Amen suggests in his books. I think co Q 10 has been helpful.

Stacy, I look forward to your input, along with Michele's and Deanna's, and like to know how you are doing in your journey. Post when you can and I will do the same. I would like us to be burgeoning success stories, though. Truly be progress, if not perfection-- not Same old Crap club!

I didnt get a workout in this weekend. FnV...no parties with friends for me, but these hormone-induced cravings have gotten the best of me. Obviously I cant do much about my hormone fluctuations as I age, so I'm going to have to figure out the best way to keep ahead of the game. I hope the migraine-like headaches subside with time.

I have a meeting after work tomorrow so not sure I'll get a workout in tomorrow either but come Hell or high water, I WILL workout on Tuesday!! My flabby, soft arms are in need of some weight training. (My lower pear-shaped half, well that's a lost cause)

The motto tomorrow is "WATER, WATER WATER!!" I need to get out of The Same Old Crap club!

Today a well meaning friend suggested I could just do an extra dance class or take a walk to negate my gains. A pound of fat takes 3500 cal to burn off, according to web sources. How many times would you have to do Afterburn, to get rid a pound? : 0

I did BM2 just the step portion earlier today and this eve I did BB ts wo #1. I've got CF ready to go tomorrow in case I can get something in tomorrow early.

Water - I've been drinking 3-4 bottles a day plus teas.
