PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION: AUGUST "GO FOR THE GOLD"

Did the XFit workout yesterday, only took 16 minutes, and I'm actually a bit sore in the quads today despite going low on the weight. Kinda scary. No workout today, but plan to do another XFit workout tomorrow.

Did a second XFit workout this morning, this one was centered around back work. I've been sneezing all morning which means either allergies or I'm coming down with a cold, unfortunately I think it's the latter. It's not going to be as hot today, so I'm thinking today will be another soup day.

When I get my DeltaFit workouts, I'm going to see if I would be able to alternate those with my current XFit workouts or maybe alternate weeks with them. So far I'm liking the shorter, but still sweat XFit workouts. I put on my own music and get the job done. Nice change of pace.

Have a good one!

P.S. I felt the goblet squats more in my outer glute area, moreso than with other types of squats. I only did them holding my 10lb kettlebell. May go up in weight next time. I did them as a wide squat with toes pointing more outward and when I went down I was almost pushing my inner thighs outward with my elbows (if that makes sense!). It was a deeper squat but my knees felt ok since I did them slow and steady.

Hello Ladies, today will be my 1st day going back to the GYM. I am not in any pain, and I am going to take it very slow. The MRT class on Tuesday is considered Torture Tuesday. :( Again, I am going to take my time.

Yes let us know how it goes!
I did LIC with bonus cardio and abs. Love that dvd. Dance later.
Stacy, your change of pace sounds fun.
Edited to add this eve's workout, a slow hour long run plus dance. Tired!

No workout yesterday, can't even count dance performance b/c it was performing 5 songs over 3 hours. Most of the other girls performed nearly continuously for the whole 3 hours, I miss that troupe but that is a lot of choreography to learn and stay on top of.

Stacy, i was reading vf and saw some of the delta chatter and checked it out, looks good. We really can't have too many dvds, can we?

Deanna, did you make it back to gym?

I was going to workout before work this morning, but opted for extra sleep.

I got the DeltaFit set in the mail today, but havent had time to look at it yet. Since it's from Men's Health, my husband is interested in it as well. I'm hoping he'll get into it.

Hi, Deanna!!

Anyone out there?
I did AB, dbl trouble pm. I was 6 pds away from goal on last Fri but I've been shy on eating plants and doing my workouts. But I'm getting back on track.
Stacy, it would be fun to have your hubby w/o with you. Let us know how you like the Delta.

I've hit a workout slump, have been working late hours, working weekends, not sleeping well. It's all left me tired and very unmotivated. I've gained a few lbs as well from eating junk :( So, nothing to report here. I need to find some inner strength somewhere.

Sorry, Stacy, I hope you find your motivation.
I did about 35 min of AT so I'm keeping my workouts moving along. Didn't run as planned this evening, though.
I ate too many ww points today but I also made some veggie soup. : )

I did an Intensity pm this aft.
Stacy, maybe work on sleep/rest as first priority, then nutrition followed by workouts?
Deanna, how's it going?
I'm thinking about using gym at my school a couple of days a week, I'll have to give it a tour.

FnV, how was the soup??

I did my first DeltaFit workout with hubby today. It went pretty well, it didnt seem to hard, but I am now feeling very light DOMS in my quads hours later. I tacked on Shoulders from Meso2 and abs. Nutrition....ate a smaller portion of junk...it's a start!

Soup was gooood! I'd made chicken breasts in crock pot with veg broth and chipotle marinade that was really yummy-so when I pulled the chix out, I added a can of chopped fire roasted tomatoes, finely chopped onion and celery and carrots and just cooked a little bit; the veggies stayed crunchy. And chick peas, too. I think it is sort of a Gazpacho? Tastes great cold.

Good job on deltashred and add ons. I'd like to know how it goes. I'm eyeing a lot of stuff at beachbody, plus the Jillian and other stuff. I'd like something different, but sticking with Cathe keeps me somewhat consistent. Either way, I can't throw money at new workouts right now.

Soup sounds great, are you still not eating meat?

The second DeltaFit workout today was Combat Cardio, it was pretty good. It was 3 exercises each done for 1 minute, then a one minute active rest of what he calls "fake jump roping". He does 10 sets of 3 different exercises. The basic formate was an "animal exercise" then followed by many different kickboxing inspired kicking and punching moves, I'd say he did a good job of splitting the workout up fairly evenly btwn kicks and punches. The animal exercises were the toughest! For instance you do a "crab crawl" where you sit on the ground, lift your hips up so your back is parallel to the ground and walk so many paces forward and backwards for a minute. There are "gorilla jumps" which you do a deep squat and let your arms hang so your fingertips are just touching the ground and then you do minin hops all around the room like a gorilla would. My quads were burning! So far I'm liking the set but I've only done 2 workouts, so I'm optimistic!

Food so far so good. Went out for breakfast and got an egg white veggie omelet, with no cheese, got the fruit instead of the hashbrowns and orderd dry toast and only ate one slice. Have a good Sunday!!

I'm back to animal protein but in smallish proportions and trying to include sardines, salmon and mackerel. Still into the Amen/brain thing (watched him on pbs today, he says eat like a gorilla- plants, mostly veggies and some fruit, some meat, no wheat, dairy, etc).
Also going to look at Okinawan, which I think will mostly dovetail with Amen).
Anyway, was funny, he said eat like a gorilla and you were doing gorilla jumps, which sound crazy but fun. Maybe we just need to embody the gorilla? : D

Today- did Bootcamp (wanted to try Gauntlet but turns out I don't have that dvd!). Need to get a lunch bag and plan some food for this week while at school.

Have a good Sunday, too.

Did BM2 bootcamp pm. I tried a few of your Crab Crawls, too.
Picked up a lunch bag yesterday so fewer excuses available to me for not having good stuff to eat for lunch when I'm gone all day.

I definitely do much better when I pack my lunch the night before, I just forget!

Today's menu...

B--100 cal container of chocolate milk (trying this quick breakfast for awhile as breakfast is often on the run, yes, has sugar, but good amount of protein)
S--almonds
L--small can of tuna, with diced celery and diced red peppers with a small amount mayo (the kind made with olive oil)
D--no clue yet

Planning on another DeltaFit workout with hubby. Apparently he doesnt like when I give him form pointers, so he can have bad form and get injured if that's what he chooses, and yes, he will definitely get an "I told you so" from me, just sayin' ;)

Supposed to be cooler tomorrow...I feel a soup day comin' on....

Today I did the step cardio and core from AT, followed by DeltaFit's 40 min Isometric workout. This workout got progressively harder and more exhausting. You do a series of exercises that you hold for 10 sec, then rest for 5 sec. There were about 12 main exercises and each exercises had roughly 3-5 progressions, for instance....a side plank on your elbow, then with arm extended, then with arm extended and raising your top leg, then holding your top leg raises but at a right angle to your body etc etc. Some of the pushup variations were too tough for me still.

I'm making this soup tonight, maybe with some tweaks, maybe not...

Why-the-Chicken-Crossed-the-Road Santa Fe-Tastic Tortilla Soup Recipe : Rachael Ray : Recipes : Food Network

Have a good day!

Soup looks tasty, workout sounded tough! Some of those planks would have had me toppling over (I don't usually make it thru Cathe's balancing snow angels)
I did CCC and the Hiits from 30/30. Dance class later. Doubt I'll workout tomorrow due to schedule but I'll be packing my lunch bag : )
I'm still rebounding from last weeks non-green eating but I'm on the right track.

The soup was fantastic! My husband would have had 3 bowls but he was too full! I omitted the zucchini just b/c I dont care for it and did not add the tortilla chips to it, though did garnish it with some tortilla strips that they sell near the salad dressing/crouton section in the grocery store. I also bought a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken and was able to just shred that literally by hand it was so tender which made the prep time even quicker. I'll definitely make this one again.
