Pregnancy Checkin Dec 15th

LOL Jess, too funny about scaring away the salesman! At least he didnt stay too long and pester you with his wares :)

How are you eyes doing this morning? Better I hope!. Im still pretty swollen, but its not as bad. As soon as i get to work and sit at this desk i feel like the fluids all start pooling and my feet start exploding again. Sigh. Its still both feet so i dont think its ant bites anymore. Maybe i will be swollen the rest of my pregnancy!

According to my scale at home, i have gained 31 pounds already :( A lot of people tell me i dont look like it but i highly doubt the baby is 31 pounds in my belly. So there must be fat pooled elswhere. My boobs have not grown AT ALL so i cant even account for poundage there. I will always be small there! haha. Sigh...all these xmas cookies and candies lying around sure do not help my phlight.

anyhoo..today is a new day and its my friday. i have monday off as well so i have a nice four day weekend. yay, go me. Maybe i can finally get the nursery in order!

Ryan says hi!

Hi all! Just checking in from the gym computers before I leave Chicago and head to St. Louis. Ryan says hello--no clue if it's a boy or girl, but I think I woke her/him up because s/he wasn't moving around much last night. Did you have constant movement at 20+ weeks? I really think that I'm about to pop, but there's no way a regular person would know that I'm preggo--only 5 pounds gained and I think one pound each in my breast. That I like.

Laura i did not have constant movement. And still dont. I did not even feel my baby until maybe week 22. Which is later than most, so i was really worried. But everything is just fine according to the midwives :) Now i feel more movement but it is still sporadic. It is easier to feel becuase i know the baby is over 3 pounds (she was three pounds a couple weeks ago so i know she is more than that - and she was bigger than average then! Im scared! LOL).

You are lucky to have gained only five pounds. Im hating myselfr right now becuase i've gained 30. People tell me i dont look it, but that doesnt make me feel that much better about myself. And boob weight - forget it!!! I dont have any. STILL!!!! Never have, and i guess i never will. Boo hoo, sniffle...I was hoping for that perk. Instead my feet have decided to swell up to the size of an elephant each! I know month 1-3 i gained zero. Month 4 i gained about 6, month five 7 and then i just exploded after that. It started coming on rapidly for no reason if you remember my previous posts/complainants.

Just make sure you are eating enough to help support little Ryan. That was hard for me at first, but my babys life and nourishment is much more imprortant thatn a number on the scale.

Maybe by the time STS arrives, my baby will be here and in an ideal world i will be able to follow it post partum and get back to my pre preggo weight! wont that be nice!

oh, have a safe trip by the way!

Oh and i did not show until after i was 5 months. Im 7 now, and obvisouly pregnant. People are finally starting to comment at the stores and guess the sex etc. I've had a couple women tell me "You are THE cutest pregnant woman i have EVER seen" haha. Thanks, i guess?

well you guys have seen my pic. I still get looks of shock when people find out I'm preggo. I guess they just don't notice the big bump sticking out?? lol. well its not that big I guess. but its big to me considering its not normally there. I'm still squeezing into my snug sweats and tshirts at home but I wear maternity out of the house.

Jen-don't worry too much. With my first I told you I gained a ton cause of swelling. I was pretty small my whole life so started at like 115 and gained 60 or so with him. yeah you heard that right!! but like I said most of that was swelling. :( I lost most of it right away. I was back into the small clothes in a few months and I wasn't even working out much. I think for me nursing helps too, but the swelling was a big one. I deflated after baby. ha!
With Noah my second I was fit but around 119 or so when I got preggo. I worked out 6 days a week or so most of the pregnancy. I slowed WAY down the last month but still walked and did some kickboxing. I gained 40 overall. But the drs never complained cause they thought I was underweight to start with.
This time I started out 130 which is big for me but I admit not overweight. I'm hoping that since I started out more I will gain less this time around. It's not helping much I've been so sick and have only sporadically worked out :(.

Anyway, my eyes are the same. It was never a bad case. The left eye isn't really effected its the right one. But I scared the guy off cause of the ointment DH put on. I didn't realize how I looked till I saw myself in the mirror. Really it just looks a tad red and dry. No gook so far thankfully, and thankfully the kids haven't picked it up. I'm trying to wash my hand everytime my hands get near my face.

Laura- I'm sure you'll pop soon. I'm 21 weeks now and the movement is sporadic definetly. He has little bursts of activity but it doesn't last long. Seems he sleeps constantly lol. I think I've gained a lb in each breast too. Mine hear the word pregnancy and get big. They'll get even bigger as the pregnancy goes along and when nursing down right huge. then they totally deflate when I'm done nursing. Which isn't cool. I'd rather stay rather small then stretch them out like that.. but oh well. Dh likes the size they are now. lol.

Jess, I'm sending you some healthy vibes down your way. It's bad enough being sick, but sick with company has got to be miserable.

Jen, I'd think several pounds have got to be water weight. With your feet swollen off and on for a while now. My boss's pregnant wife (due late Feb) gained 9 lbs in Nov. The nurse weighing her made the comment "looks like someone had a great Thanksgiving". I probably would have burst into tears (or stepped on her foot when getting off the scale.)

Hi to Laura and Ryan!

Off to eat something before my forced starvation/depravation for the 3 hr test. It's just wrong to make a pregnant woman not eat for like 12 hours. A mom I talked to today at DS's preschool told me she had diabetes with her 2nd & 3rd children, but not her 1st or 4th. She had to give herself insulin shots into her tummy. I couldn't imagine.

oh Tana,
Your scaring me. I'm HATE HATE needles! I'm really nervous for that test now. I hope you pass this one with flying colors so you don't have to deal with that! let us know how it goes!
I don't mind blood drawing as much as shots. I have to do that this next appt to check my blood platelets. I'm REALLY hoping I don't develope the same condition this time but the midwife says I probably will since I had it with the first two. I'd atleast like the OPTION of meds when labor/delivery comes even if I think I can make it without them.

I've gotten a lot better with having my blood drawn. Doesn't seem to bother me as much as it used to. They had to draw blood 4 times during the 3 hour glucose test. The worst part was sitting in the uncomfortable waiting room chair for 3 1/2 hours. Luckily I took the afghan I'm crocheting for a Christmas gift and was able to get quite a bit done. I just made myself at home. LOL

Jess, what condition did you have with the other two?

The condition is called Gestational Thrombocytopenia. It is just that my blood platelets drop as the pregnancy progresses. They usually get so low it worries the drs and they insist I give birth near a ready blood supply. Basically I could bleed too much. It scares me a bit. After I had Noah one of the nurses said I lost too much blood... no one else told me? I didn't get anything given to me for it. So I guess it wasn't life threatening but it still creeped me out. With Seth I had that AND preeclampsia and so they took him 3 weeks early due to both of the problems. They almost took him a few months early(that was scarey). I know they dropped dangerously low and also they were worried about the preeclampsia. Anyway medications like an Epidural could complicate the problem so they severely frown on it and if I ask they say they need to do blood tests first then they say no. Well my labors are pretty fast but they are HARD and fast. I skip all that slow drawn out labor and it starts up so fast I can be admitted right away and the baby comes 4-6 hrs later. So I guess I can survive it. ha.

Oh so when do you find out results? Glad you got your crocheting done :)

now that I said 4-6 hrs watch this one take twice that. lol. Well my mom was the same with me and my brothers so I'm thinking it'll go similar this time.

ok me again. I did some reading on it real quick and it seems the severity that I had it is VERY rare. Uh. that kinda creeps me out! ugh. I also didn't know it was possible the baby could develope a form of it too. They never told me that?! I was reading about it online. I'll have to ask at my next appt.

Wow! That sounds scary, Jess! I hadn't heard of that. Will they check your platelet level at every appt from now on? Did the doctor ever mention that they might need to check your boys for something similar?

Thank goodness you don't have slow and drawn out labor. I've heard about women who are in labor all day/night. That would stink! I got to skip the labor experience with my son who was breech. I'll be skipping it this time too and just go straight for the c-section. The dr asked if I wanted VBAC, but then she started telling me scary things about it like she was trying to talk me out of choosing it. I didn't care either way.

Eeks...better run. I hear DH spraying Pledge upstairs and I'm feeling a little guilty. = )

Jess,

My platelets were low with every pregnancy. Are you planning on having a having a c/s? Spinals & anything that goes into the spine are contraindicated with thrombocytopenia----so I"d be really suprised if they give you anything for pain that way. I did get some IV meds, which helped early during labor---but they wore off quickly---and I was in mega-pain until I was put under for C/s. Good luck & keep us updated.

Melanie- yeah no meds for me if it happens again. :( same deal as with the last two. I think they gave me some IV med with Seth but it did NOTHING at all but make me whoozy. No edge off on the pain at all. totally not doing that again.

Tana- my boys should be fine. My problem is only during pregnancy then it goes back to normal after delivery. But I was reading online the baby may be affected. I'm not sure how/why so I'll ask at my appt.

Yeah I was wondering about Anne too. Check in Anne!!

I had back labor & could not handle the pain. I BEGGED for a C/S....then they could put me completely under & I felt no pain. On the negative side, I didn't get to see my babes until they were a few hours old (b/c I was out of it). I wasn't able to bond with my babes with my husband. Since i had a C/s with #2....other pgs are automacially "optional" C/s. ;)

I don't handle pain well AT ALL. Many people have mechanisms to help with the pain...this works for them. My platelets got down to about 80,000. Alternatively, an option you might be able to talk to your dr about it starting a prednisone taper prior to delivery. It boost your platelets up & might give you the edge you need to get a spinal/epidural. My platelets were too low...but if yours are border?

Melanie- With my first they dropped to atleast 50,000. I know it hit that but may have slipped lower cause the started plummiting at the end. I know they got too low to get any meds with #2 also but I can't remember the exact number. I have never heard about the prednisone I'll look it up online and ask my midwife about it. So with Seth (my first) I had the dangerously low platelets and the preeclampsia that I developed rather early on and they said that the uterus was becoming toxic and dangerous for the baby. After he was born the placenta fell to pieces and they had to pull a few pieces out. ick.

I always feel like I'm pretty tuff... but labor/delivery kicks my rear for sure. I wish I had an option for meds even though I realize its better not to. After they were born I felt like I had been run over with a mac truck and was beat up for atleast a week. The lady next to me in recovery after Noah was talking all peppy like non stop and I was thinking "SHUUUSH I'm trying to rest for peats sake" lol. She must have had meds you'd never know she just had a baby. I have this pic that says it all I looked wiped out. ha. so yeah I feel ya. But I'm scared of C/S too. I feel if I can just survive thru it I'll be ok. Atleast like I said it isn't drawn out all day. Mine are shorter but HARD. They comment on it when at the hospital and they are monitoring me.

yadda yadda. I hope I don't creep anyone out. I think that condition is pretty rare esp for it to be at a dangerous level. I think if you only have it mildly also you can still get meds but I'm not sure?
Well, heres hoping maybe I won't develope that condition this time around! Oh and yeah they will start checking my blood from now to keep an eye on that.

Hi Ladies
Hope you are all having a nice weekend. Nice to see the forum is active! :)
I hope Anne is ok as well, she hasnt been around in a while. Anne, come back! :)

Im so tired, ive been busy running errands this weekend. Nothing fun - spending money on groceries and thats about it. The meal i wanted to make for xmas lunch (before DH goes to work) was not at two stores and at the last one it was 20 dollars a pound. Forget THAT! So i opted for a lesser steller xmas lunch meal lol

I did get some workouts in. Yesterday was a new Michael Olajide, Savage and Serene. Its a boxing/jump rope workout. My arms are so sore today! And then i did Gym Styles Back, Shoulders and Biceps. Today was IMAX 3. I had to stop a couple times due to arch pain. Then i did Gym Styels Chest and Tri's. My arms are so sore. But at least i got some good workouts in.

Ok, DH is finally going to move some furniture out of the babys room for me, yeah! I wanted to do some rearranging. We are still trying to decide if we are going to paint the walls in here. Our whole house is white, pretty boring!
I was thinking some sort of pink and yellow combo to accent the bedding, but i dont know...im not good at desigining things.

Oh Jess, dont beleive everything you read online. That tends to scare more than help. I've been there done that!

Jen -sorry your lunch didn't work out :(
Is that guy the one with the eye patch? I always wondered why he has one. I haven't tried one of his workouts yet.
Well about reading online. I was reading on medical sites only. One that my DH was shocked to see me on cause you have to sign in lol! he must've not signed out. But I'll run anything I read thru at my drs appts anyway.

---

Well is anyone going to get Chalene extreme? I'm still thinking about it. I actually wouldn't mind some shorter workouts esp for after baby! I have STS coming to me. I could do the best I can with that till baby comes (maybe) then do Chalene. Still thinking about it.

I'm feeling MUCH better today!!! I am hoping all the sickies are on their way out. I have a massive amount of family coming in today though for the weekend. DH mom is here since yesterday already. We have no where to keep them so they all have to ruff it on palets etc ha. I only have one extra bed for guests and its a twin.

Jess - yes, thats the one. He has an eyepatch. I dont know the story behind that though. Maybe from boxing! yikes. My arms are so sore from this workout, and ive done many a kickbox workout before. This is mostly upper body punching but he goes for a long time and the speed is nuts! it really works you. He alternates punching drills with some jump roping (i stink at jump roping) and also some squat work for the legs. Its a keeper!

Its so funny catching a glimpse of yourself boxing when you have a huge belly hanging off you lol :)

I put the bedding in the crib today, i know its early but DH pulled it out of the closet and said why not! we still have to get the room organized but im including pics of the crib and bedding here for you to view.

i would like to paint the walls. any suggestions? i was tking pink or yellow or a combo of both. but i dont know im not creative...

About Chalene Xtreme i realyl want to try this out but i havent purchased it yet. i hope to get it on the exchange one day but i know thats wishful thinking!
