Pregnancy check in week of 7/18/04

Good morning! How's the summer heat in your hometown? It got pretty hot this past week in Washington state. I am on the West Coast. Our temps were in the low-mid 90's. Since heat like that is not common for this part of the country, not many people of air conditioning in their homes. It was so hard to sleep or do anything as our house was in the mid 80's. Yuck! I am so glad to see the cooler temps here again (mid 70's to low 80's). I hope they're here to stay!

I had a busy week. I've been out shopping again (my passion!). I know I'm silly, but with 7-8 weeks left (and God willing, if I go a little early...) then I figure I may still be able to hit some of the summer sales and actually wear the clothes a bit before the weather turns too cold. It's been a lot of fun to shop again. I have missed it so much.

I am finally starting to buy clothes for the baby (he's good for the first 3 mos which will go very fast!). I don't have anything else for him (except a crib--the one thing we hung onto as I was saving it for my SIL). I'm starting to get a little stressed out that we aren't ready yet. It's just hard with the office remodel we have going on right now, and so much stuff still needing to be done in the yard with it being summer. We'll definitely be busy next month making sure everything is ready to go.

Now for my workouts:

Sunday: Off
Monday: All Step
Tuesday: Power Circuit
Wednesday: Unplanned rest day - I had to run an 80,000 piece job with same day turnaround. I was on my feet for over 12 hours bending, lifting, loading, unloading. This was far more challenging than any other workout I would have done.
Thursday: Circuit Max (first 40 minutes of tape)
Friday: Leaner Legs
Saturday: Off

Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying summer!

My 8-year anniversary is tomorrow. Our kids will be staying with their aunt and uncle so my husband and I have a kid-free weekend. I'm really looking forward to it!

Hi there!! I've been a lurker for a while, but decided to change and become a poster. Yippee!! I've always meant to, but have been too sleepy or just plain lazy. Since I've entered my third trimester, it seems like I've gotten more energy. So, hopefully (I'm keeping my fingers crossed) this won't be the only time that I check-in. You all have been a big inspiration for me to keep exercising (even if it's just a couple of times a week). Last week I found out I have gestational diabetes so workouts now are even more important. This diabetes scare is really kicking my rear into gear. Okay, here's what I've done during the past week:

Sun Push Pull (-abs)
Mon Keli Roberts Ultimate Step (-abs)
Tue Treadmill 35 min/2.05 mi
Wed Walked outside 1 mile w/dog and PS CST
Thu Walked outside 2 mile
Fri Step Works
Sat CTX Kickbox

Here's a little info about me (only fair since I've been lurking and not contributing): I'm 31, live in Kansas, am expecting our first child, work at a golf course (quit my job as a 401(k) plan administrator last October to try life without mega-stress...it was the company, not the job), have 2 dogs and love Cathe workouts(I know that's a no-brainer). Have a great rest of the week!! I'll post again soon!!

Tana - Welcome aboard! It's great to hear from you! Please post even if you don't have a great workout week. It's great to hear from everyone. Sorry to hear about your gestational diabetes. You really have kicked it into high gear with those workouts of yours. I really feel like I've been a wimp this time around, but I'm still doing great with my weight gain, and overall still feel like I'm pretty fit (wind-wise) and that my legs (underneath all the water weight) still have good definition thanks to Leaner Legs, so overall, hopefully I'm doing just fine.

Do you know if you're having a girl or a boy?

Take care, and thanks for sharing. Hope some other ladies post too. I'm really looking forward to hearing from Diana. She's so close. I can't wait to read her birth story! They always make me cry.

Hello everyone.
Glad to hear you're doing well Stacey. Sorry I haven't posted in so long. I read the posts all the time but get lazy about posting myself. I always want to post but keep putting it off until it gets too late in the week. You asked about the weather, well here in southern Arizona it is HOT. There's no other way to describe it. 110 degrees is the norm around here. I just stay inside under my air conditioner otherwise the heat really gets to me. It's hard to get motivated to do anything when it's so hot.

I'm starting to get a little stressed too because it seems like I haven't done anything to get ready for the baby. Right now my nursery is a storage room and I have to get rid of all the stuff in there. We're suppossed to be having a yard sale but keep putting it off. It's seems we're out of town almost every weekend.

I had another ultrasound last week. My doctor was concerned because I keep measuring around 6 cm bigger than what I should be. At my last appt. I was 27 weeks but measured 33 weeks. The dr. was afraid there might be something wrong with the baby but luckily everything looked allright. My baby is just very large. I'm just hoping that this doesn't hurt my chances to have a VBAC. I guess I'll know more as I get further along.

Well, I have no workouts to report for last week. Not unless you count all the walking I did around Disneyland. My DH made an appt. for me to get a pregnancy massage at the spa at our hotel while we were at Disneyland. It was so nice!

Tana- it's great to hear from you. I hope to see more posts from you. It looks like our due dates are the same but I know I won't be having my baby on my due date. It'll be a week or two early because if I have a VBAC (which I'm hoping for) I'll have to be induced bacause the hospital I'll have to go to is 120 miles away and the dr. doesn't want to take the chance of me going into labor on my own, and if I have to have a C-Section I'll be scheduled early for that also.

Edited to add: Happy anniversary Stacey!

Well, I'll be 38 weeks officially tomorrow. I haven't done much in terms of workouts because I've had a lot of work to do and it's all on the computer so I'm feeling like a real lump!

I've developed gestational carpal tunnel syndrome (hey my feet hurt and I have a sciatic nerve that is flaring up so why not add my hands to the mix!!). It's especially bad in my right hand. It's probably from all the work on the computer which I think I've gotten mostly completed. But I still have things to get done before I go on maternity leave.

Stacey - you're workouts look great! Hope you enjoyed your anniversary.
Welcome Tana! It's great to see posts from new people.
Jacque - aren't pre-natal massages wonderful for helping with any aches and pains?

Hope everyone has a good week. I'm ready for baby!

Jacque: It's always so great to hear from you. I don't blame you for not feeling very motivated in that kind of weather. One word - YUCK! Especially when you're pregnant! I would count the walking you did at Disney Land as a stellar workout. I'm sure you walked over 5 miles each day. How fun. We are going to Disneyland in the spring this coming year if all goes well.

Have fun getting your nursery together. I have lots of little things to do like paint the entertainment cabinet in my son's (older son's) room, etc., but the baby's room is pretty much okay. I'm leaving it as is with a surfing theme, and adding the crib to the corner. My SIL found crib bedding for me yesterday that coordinates really well with the stuff that's already in the room, so now we just have to put the crib together and buy a swing, a high chair, a bouncy seat (my sister might have one), and make sure we have a carseat (again, from my sister).

Diana: You poor thing! I feel for you. It will all be worth (as I know you are well aware) when you get to hold your sweet baby in your arms. You sound like you are taking this all so well. What a great attitiude. Take it easy and rest up guilt-free before your little one comes. I can't wait to find out if your baby is a boy or a girl. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for all of the 'welcomes'!! Very cool to have women to talk to who are going through or have gone through pregnancy.

Stacey - We decided not to find out the gender of the baby. Sometimes I wish we would have so it would be easier to plan and shop, but my hubby is so excited about finding out on it's birth day. Plus it's been fun hearing other people's guesses on the gender. So far I've had mostly votes for 'girl'.

Jacque - Do you know if you're having a boy or girl? We haven't done a thing with our 'baby's room' yet either. We finally took out the full-size bed that was in there, but it's still full of things that need to find permanent homes. October still seems so far away....

Diana - Thank you for the welcome. How exciting to be so close to your due date!! I'm looking forward to hearing your birth story also. :)

Tana:

Congratulations on having the discipline to wait to find out what you're having. I am always so impressed with people who have that willpower. I was one of those people that thought "Why would anyone find out? It ruins the surprise." But the instant I became pregnant, I wanted to know what I was having. And now, being on my third pregnancy, you would think that I could have at least waited with this one, especially since I already have one of each, but no...of course we found out! I actually might have been able to wait, but my husband said we had enough surprised and he wanted to be as prepared as possible. I couldn't argue there. They make plenty of unisex clothes for babies, so you should be able to pickup plenty of things that he/she will need. Or, if you're a shopping maniac like me, do what I would do - buy a bit of both genders and pack a few different outfits for the hospital so that you're prepared either way. Return the set you don't need. :)

I hope Jacque doesn't mind if I answer for her here. She has been blessed with 2 boys, and is now going to be blessed with a beautiful baby girl. :)

I had to take my glucose test yesterday - they didn't schedule me for one at 28 weeks, and with this being my third, I was really hoping to get out of it. Oops! Well, my OB told me that I wasn't going to be so lucky and scheduled it for my 32 week appt. But I got to eat 19 large jelly beans instead of drinking that nasty drink! It wasn't as much fun as it sounds, though. I had to eat them all in 5 minutes. Chewy sweets like that sometimes make my teeth hurt. I also had the full variety of colors (no black thank God) but the yellow ones were pretty awful. Anyway, the rest of my checkup looked great, and I don't need to go back until I'm 36-weeks!

Take care,
Stacey

Hello all!
Just thought that I would check in. I only walked 2 times last week (and that was a miracle) I am still puking! I know that it is all worth it.
Stacy - I don't really like jelly beans, but that drink is gross! I felt soooo woozie after I drank it (1st pregnancy)
Take care everyone!
